Hey, Gaia. It's been a while, so I guess it's time to reintroduce myself.
I'm an oldbie, a millennial who suddenly has found herself a noob again. I started on Gaia when I was in high school and was active through my college years with spurts of activity in my 20s as I tried my hand at this thing called "adulthood."
What have I learned? That most of us are just winging it. Some have careers while others are continually seeking new experiences, but most humbling, I learned that we all have things we don't talk about. We go through rough patches in relationships, distancing from friends, and suffer the loss of those who've been with us through it all.
In the last handful of years, I've cared for my father who's been through a triple bypass, is battling stage 3 prostate cancer, and just survived an honest to gods brain parasite that most people don't live through.
In December of 2022, my mother suffered a massive stroke and is currently in a nursing facility doing physical therapy so she can at least come home in a wheelchair.
I've also lost a handful of family members and close friends who raised me and watched me grow up, and let me tell you, none of that gets easier, especially when you begin thinking about your own mortality and how others would survive your own death.
These days, I'm really into cozy gaming. Pokémon and Zelda games will always be my first loves, but give me your Stardew Valleys, your Animal Crossings and Fae Farms. Minecraft and Slime Rancher are fun and exciting in all the most wholesome of ways, and I appreciate that far more now these days than I did when I was young.
I'm recently just getting caught up with Demon Slayer and have planned to start Delicious in Dungeon soon, but I'd like to explore other anime and manga too, especially the yuri titles since I've been living authentically as my queer, lesbian self for the past nearly four years.
I know this is a novel of an "about me," so I'd like to thank you for your time. It's precious, after all. Please, always feel free to leave a comment just saying hello or message me. Whatever you prefer. And if you ever need an ear, I'm here to listen and give advice when asked. I try to keep a pretty open mind and extend courtesies where others don't. Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes that same community to lift each other up. Positive thinking can be hard if it isn't something you're used to practicing.
I hope you have a fantastic day, wherever you are. heart heart heart
