I will probably get round to reading it in English at some point... but no I know no Greek at all!

The Aeneid was written practically as a game of one-upmanship against the Iliad, just so the Romans could feel that they were better than the Greeks, it was all a bit odd, but it resulted in a good story so I remain pleased!

Oh that's a shame... Ovid is my love, what with the ars amortaria, amores and the metamorphoses.

Unfortunately i have never studied the Aenead, it is one thing i really wanted to do (apart from more metamorphoses)

no you are right, it is 2. Sorry i think of all my favourites as numbers and managed to confuse Horace 1.5 with Catullus 2. STUUUUPID!

Horace 1.5 is fun though... Have you tried any of Ovid's amores?

No, my favourite Catullus is 5, the one with Lesbia's sparrow.

I have just finished doing 10 years of latin, with the last 2 being used to study latin love poetry such as catullus'
