You're right, teenage years definitely can be confudliciousadicious. BUT HEY they're pretty fun, no? Just a bundle of hormones rolled up into one emotional music-infested superpack! It's like nothing we'll ever experience again! Maybe?

But keeping your affections towards other females secret makes sense, I mean, it's something that you might be afraid would scare them off, if they don't know 'bout your open preference, right? Personally I have a thing for shemales, but you can't easily tell when a woman has a p***s, they don't seem to like making that sort of thing obvious.

As for being a lesbian, I've found more girls with depth and complexity than I've found males. So I'd say boys are easy, maybe that's why they're so confusing. Too simple to make sense!
