Many vibrant colors paired with a delicate, long, and lean frame not seen in human children set this girl far apart from many other children. There is no way anyone, in any condition, could ever mistake her for a human child, even with the most cursory of glances.

The roots of her hair burn a brilliant, deep crimson. Some people would refer to this color as blood red, but truthfully, it's much more vivid and difficult to attain for humans even from a bottle. This almost eye-smarting shade of red gradually bleeds out into a slightly more tame but no less attention-catching orange, like a low, flickering flame. This orange color too gradually lightens until the curling ends of her hair are a vibrant yellow. These colors occur naturally on her, and it almost looks as if someone had managed to spin the gaudy feathers of a tropical parrot into hair. The transition between colors is smooth, less notable than the transition of colors in fire. Her hair often is rebellious, seeming at times as though it has a mind of its own as it goes where it wishes and defies any attempt at making it presentable.

Her eyes are quite unusual also by human standards, ringed with a deep violet that changes dramatically into blue in the middle, eventually morphing yet again into a pale, almost icy green around her pupils. Though the colors themselves are quite captivating, some might argue that it's the shape of her eyes that catch the attention of most. Large and round but not unattractively so, Leyna's eyes are ringed with thick, red lashes which bleed into orange at the tips. Those eyes seem to have mastered early the power of guile and innocent charm, able to manipulate all but the very hardest of hearts.

Not even her skin is exempt from this unusual colorfulness, although a very careless glance in bad lighting would, at first, make it seem so; a bronze color is the foremost hue in her skin, giving the appearance of being naturally sun-darkened. However, beneath the bronze-brown shade lurks a green tint that shows up in the highlights of her skin. Like her eyes, the little girl's skin has a tendency to express her emotions, though this is only useful if one knows what the various changes in hue mean. Beneath it all, there seems to be a shimmer that's almost elusive, although her skin does tend to flash in the light if she executes an abrupt turn; not unlike the sun flashing off fish scales. When pleased, content, or excited, her skin seems to literally glow from within, as if there's some form of light shining inside her that only she controls. The shimmer in her skin increases with excitement. When channeling negative emotions, however, such as anger or depression, her skin darkens, the shimmer all but disappearing. This is also true for illness. Embarrassment and fear make her skin lighter, but it lacks the shimmer; this is, apparently, her equivalent of pallor, or going pale.

Unlike most children, who are short, chubby, and usually a bit on the clumsy, uncoordinated side, Leyna is anything but. Her frame is long and delicate, even at such a young age. She moves with a certain grace and sense of confidence that is lacking in most children of her age group. She's also taller than most six-year-olds, indicating that she'll most likely grow to unusual height as an adult. She's lean, lacking most of the 'baby fat' that normally cling to small children. This (along with the clothes that she's provided thanks to a certain doting drow) gives her a certain air of elegance that is also lacking in many other children.

But no matter how expensive the silks, lace, and velvets she's clad in, there is always a wild air about her. Like plucking a fox kit from its den and raising it like a house cat, anyone who looks at her and sees the girl and not just her beauty knows instinctively that she's a wild creature. She almost seems better suited for the sky, grass, and trees than silk ribbons and satin sashes.
