Timid and pessimistic, Kiyoshi Yamaguchi (山口 清, Yamaguchi Kiyoshi?) is an extreme introvert with zero self-confidence and a paralyzing fear of the opposite sex. He tends to mumble when he speaks, and stutters heavily when forced to become the center of attention. Deep down, past the maelstrom of personal woes that seem to plague his very existence, he dreams of being a “trickster”, someone who able to break free from the rigidity of organized conduct, yet is still considered to be wise and influential.
Ever since the beginning of his school career, Kiyoshi’s true personality, his dreams and desires, were repressed by the overbearing desires of his parents; he had to be the “perfect student”, had to be at the top of his class, had to be everything they never were. While he managed the grades, it was at the cost of his social life; Kiyoshi had no friends throughout elementary and middle school, was dubbed “socially retarded” by his teachers, and was continually teased by his peers, particularly the girls. The pressure placed on him by them reached critical mass in middle school, resulting in the “birth” of his Shugo Chara, Aki. It is through Aki’s mischievous antics that Kiyoshi has come to be known as a “troublemaker” in high school, mostly due to daily involuntary Chara Changes during school hours, something that is completely unbeknownst to his family. Despite this, Kiyoshi’s GPA remains the same, leading his new classmates to see him as a “role model” of sorts, though his behavior is questionable at best.
More recently, Kiyoshi has realized his would-be self, merging permanently with his Chara and gaining a new egg in the process.
Aki is was Kiyoshi's fox-like Guardian Character, gifted with speed... and enough self-confidence to supply a small continent. He's very playful, though his intentions are rarely as "innocent" as they appear. He loves to play pranks on people, especially the uptight Kiyoshi, and sees it as his duty to help the boy "loosen up a little."
During a Character Change with Aki, Kiyoshi sprouts fox ears and a tail, gains Aki's speed trait and the ability to summon a pair of will-o'-the-wisp-like balls of light for offensive and defensive maneuvers, and takes on a bizarre preoccupation with "beauty"; he generally physically assaults his target, hugging them and crooning about what he likes about them... until a new target enters his field of vision, in which case he'll flit off to repeat the process with them. His Character Change only occurs when his thick, clunky glasses are removed, ceasing when they are replaced. Around those who don't interest him, he comes off as being either "playful" or "rude", generally the latter when dealing with people who exhibit personality traits that are similar to those of his normal self.
Kiyoshi's theoretical Character Transformation with Aki is "Rogue Adonis"--the two have yet to perform a proper transformation. His main weapons are a pair of crescent-shaped blades with crossbar handles fastened to sturdy, lightweight chains, all made of a deep red metallic material.
