Insidious Sidus

More and more Sidus would stand up straight, her dark eyes gradually fluttering shut from his affection. Her ragged wings fluttered and twitched before moving to fold tight against her shoulders for now. "You," she cooed, shifting around to nuzzle against him. Hopefully he wouldn't mind. That said, she felt awfully blessed for being so welcomed into the company of a deity she had just recently tried to harm. When she tried to stand upright again, she found she lacked the energy to. She was much to tired. Her legs had kept planted in the ground to prop her upright as she so casually pressed against him, half awake by this point. She gave a final quiet coo before growing completely silent. Her hand was still loosely fastened with his own, and from time to time it would randomly tighten around his midst her vivid, shallow dreaming.

That smile was all the reassurance she needed. A barely audible squal would be heard at Atlas gripping her hand. A deity, being in contact with her! Never before had she felt so honored. She felt as though she would remember this for the rest of her days. She feel ever so graced. The very moment he had started to speak she fell silent. Again, she picked up on a few choice words from his explanations. A more refined, calmer Sidus was the output. Even though it was hard to control, with being a deity especially, she managed to stop trembling finally as well. "You. Ally? she harped right back, her wings giving a sublt twitch as she looked to him for appoval. The hand that had been positioned on her cheek made her release a joyous, trill of a coo. How forgiving he was! Surely she would have to repay his kindness one day... In the meantime she was just happy here, with her species once more.

Baffled, Sidus stood up to follow his guiding. He had refused her offering, did this mean he was unhappy with her display? Was he going to banish her off to some forsaken plane where she would surely perish without the necessary amounts of energy? It sure seemed so. The very feeling of the sash being adorned on her once more caused her to panic. Immediately she unraveled it and moved to so carefully fasten it around his neck with trembling hands. "No," she bargained, taking a few lanky shuffles back. "Is. Yours." Her odd little sayings came out slow and choppy. She still had so much to learn about this odd little language he spoke. Luckily for her she didn't catch most of what he had just said. Surely he would reinstate it all once she had picked up more English. In the meanwhile Sidus had begun her soft cooing just as she had been earlier. Atlas seemed to like when she created sound. She could only hope he wouldn't be too upset over it all. Being in the presence of a deity only made her feel more fearful of her own actions. Not to mention he towered over her with his godly height. It made her feel that much smaller. "You?" she feigned, her voice still heavy with native, bird-like undertones. Her dark eyes darted around, refusing to look at him for now as she reached over to adjust his new scarf.

Insidious Sidus

Sure, she had seen small samplings of his powers earlier, but nothing like this. Sidus was left speechless. All the commotion made her sit upright to watch the ensuing action, her hair cooling down to the familiar dark clouds in the process. Her eyes never left him. Amongst her tribe there had been stories passed down orally from generation to generation about a devine offspring, one who could bring stars to her people rather than have them travel out for 'food'; one who could manipulate the pull of gravity. Awkwardly getting to her feet, she let out the quietest of whines. Atlas seemingly was a deity to her by now. The very fact that she had tried to hurt him earlier made her sick. And still he kept coming back! Without thinking she collapsed to the ground, instantly moving to bow at his feet so that she was facing the ground. Directly after she began to quietly murmur and hiss off to him, pleading for mercy and a swift punishment. Not that he would be able to understand anyway. Still she thought it had to mean something. She could only pray that he would not be too upset with her for being so unstable; going from sincere to trying to attack him all within the hour. To reinstate her fears, Sidus cautiously sat back up, unravelled the odd, silk-like tattered sash from her waistline and offered it up to him with open palms as a sigh of her repentence.

Insidious Sidus

And then she spotted him. The familiar being perched on the far off rooftop, watching. Sidus was now breathing heavily, growing increasingly tired from her little rampage. A bike, a car, a newsstand. Anything she could get ahold of she hurled up at Atlas in her little tantrum. Just as he had predicted, the military ended up showing up moments later. Which only seemed to make her more upset. She shifted her gaze up to Atlas, letting out a long stream of creaks and trills to him. Just after she had finished though, the troops rolled out. They didn't even wait. As soon as they were able the opened fire. But she didn't care. Just more energy for her. Each bullet seemed to stop upon impact and slide into her skin, creating ripples in her night-sky skin. The firefight seemed to halt momentarily once they realized weapons were useless. Standing upright, she twitched her head around for a moment before a seemingly endless stream of bullets shot out from her skin; only at double the speed. Her barrage managed to take out at least half of the small infantry, the rest relocating to behind a building a few blocks away to rethink their plan. Sidus in the meanwhile, let out a shrill shriek while turning to glance up at him again. "You," she harked, wading her way over to one of the destroyed cars that was laying on its side nearby. Sidus curiously poked and prodded at it, expecting it to fix itself. When it did not, she fell backwards to sprawl out on her back. She simply lay there in the middle of the road, staring up at him and waiting for the second attack to come.

Insidious Sidus

Sidus was more than glad to accompany him out to the humble abode. However once they actually got there, it was a different story. Long-repressed memories flashed for a moment and she froze. The last time she had landed here and so willingly followed someone around, bad things had happened. She had gone through the same fate as he. Her skin tightened, thousands of tiny needle-like bumps jutting up; however they were fairly short, hardly half an inch in height. It was more of a weapon used to scare off predators. She shook her head and let the familiar low hiss emit from her neck. "N-No." she chirped, her fists clenching. But she was weak. How was she to fend him off if he or anyone else tried something by this point? The thin pair of wings finally managed to straighten off of her back, twitching and flapping around while she merely stared over at him. Even then they had not been repaired themselves from her fall. No, she would require much, much more energy for that. Sidus nearly tripped over her own feet as she turned and ran. The last thing she wanted was a repeat of her last visit. That said, she managed to stumble and lope her way back into town. Back into the unsuspecting town. She wasn't sure why, but she was angry now. How dare these creatures try to single her out! Perhaps it was finally time for payback. Sidus so calmly stepped out into traffic. Her timing was so unintentionally precise, she managed to step out right in front of a bus. A sudden burst of energy coursed through her. With her hair burning into white flames again, she simply glanced over at the ruined bus. The front end was completely totaled and had been bent around where it had run into her. Yet she was unharmed. A simply kick was all it took to send the bus rocketing back. All the while of her barrage on the area, she could be heard hissing and quietly harping 'no' to herself.

And just like that, she felt light as a feather. Sidus rapidly glanced around to try and find the source of this new weightlessness. It was almost like zero gravity; the environment she was born and raised in. She failed to see the necessity of having such hard gravitational forces at work here on this odd little planet. But that wasn't too much of a concern now. She was more worried about where they were going. "You?" she cut in, responding to his compliment best she could. Now all she had to do was learn am entire language. Simple enough. Hissing and clicking all the way there, Sidus had stopped numerous times to observe smaller wildlife, uproot plants, and take in the sour smells of earthly foods. Needless to say it all left much to be desired. Still she tagged right along beside Atlas. It was still empty everywhere, leaving the lone pair to wander the streets. "You!" Sidus randomly cheered, the familiar bird-like voice ever present. The empty walkways made her happy. She didn't quite get along with people well yet; so she preferred empty everything.

Insidious Sidus

The feel of his hand on her flat head caused Sidus to let out a quiet, high pitched trill of a coo. However this quiet observing was soon disrupted. His sudden demeanor change alerted her to the impending danger. Before she knew it there were squad cars pulling up left and right. A choir of clicks from their weapons locking and loading made her on edge. Clearly these silly little beings were a threat to them. Sidus casually strolled towards the blockade, one of her hands lifting to be level with her shoulder. With an open palm, she stood before the terrified officer. A small orb of light formed, levitating just above her palm. From that orb formed what could only be described as a scaled down star, and she stepped closer. Without hesitation she shoved the star down the man's open throat. Seconds later his body seemed to disintegrate from the inside out, leaving nothing behind but a runny pile of ashes. But this was only the beginning. As long as there were officers here, Sidus would have to go on the offensive. Her once placid locks of smokey hair seemed to catch fire suddenly; a scaulding white flame taking place and whisping around in the wind in its place. "You." she chirped at the nearest officer. With her eyes slowly running to become a bright white, she stepped forward. Another step. By the time she had stopped she was in the middle of the blockade. And then it happened. Sidus raised a hand again to tap into the last of her feeble energy reserves. A bright flash of light; a blazing wave of heat; and the shrieks of men being vaporized. It all went together so nicely. If Atlas had managed to keep his eyes transfixed for long enough, he would see the miniature bomb explosion forming in her palm before expanding wiping out the remainder of the police. Right infront of Atlas stood a ring of distruction; Sidus had made sure to keep him untouched. All done. Sidus flinched and let out another series of clicks and trills. The walk back over to him seemed like the longest she had ever endured. The harsh flame on her head died down to return to the familiar shadowy cloud clusters, her eyes returning to normal as well. However something was a tad off. Sidus waivered and toppled sideways. The shadowy cloud tufts soon disappeared, leaving her bald until she could gather more energy. "You," she quietly harped as she tried to lift herself. Considering she had no sense of manners she went ahead and used Atlas as a post to aid herself. A thin mist of clouds appeared once more to coat her head; as in the act of falling she had gained some energy from the impact against the ground.

Insidious Sidus

Sidus let out a low, feral hiss. This mirror of a being was getting closer and she had every reason to be wary. Her eyes never left him. By the time he had managed to rest a hand upon her flat face however, she had fallen silent. Their skin matched, perfecty. Infact it blended in so well that from a distance, one could swear they were conjoined. Again with those confusing words. Of course by now, she was beginning to pick up on a few. With an absolute concentration, she stood tall and fluttered the openings on her neck open and closed. "You. she parroted back in an awkward, bird-like sing-song voice. She was rather proud for picking up this fast. In the not-so-far-off distance however, the faint wails of sirens could be heard echoing around the surrounding neighborhoods. Even with her underdeveloped hearing Sidus managed to catch wind of these new sounds. Would they provide more energy for her too? Sidus sure hoped so. "You?" she inquired, departing to retrieve his mask and toy with it again. She was so easily amused by such trivial things. It provided just enough of a distraction for her to allow her to forget about the approaching offensive.

Insidious Sidus

Atlas had certainly managed to catch her off guard. Her near primative sensory organs had not yet been too agile to pick up on the approaching figure. Two thin slits of flesh suddenly jutted up from the sides of her neck to reveal the delicate pitch black flesh beneath. Sidus rapidly pivoted to stare at him with her own pair of blank eyes. His words confused her though. It would take time for her to adapt to this new language. So she decided to make due. In response to his questioning, a rapid series of clicks, hisses, and screeches were emitted from inbetweem the slits on her neck to chime in to answer; her native tongue. Hopefully he understood. With her point made Sidus cautiously stumbled her way over to him. The gravity here was something else. What kind of a place was this? But those eyes. They nearly mirrored her own. Sidus was perplexed. Was he the same? If so, where was his skin, the featureless face, the wings? He didn't appear to have any of those. Another string was let off in her native tongue. If he was the same, he would understand, right? She might have an ally here! The idea alone stirred some excitement up. Sidus stood there, unmoving and silent with just a few feet of distance between them. Those dark eyes of hers never left that mask. How odd it seemed to her. Was he hiding? Uncaring of his reaction, she suddenly lunged, jumped, and scurried away towards the bank to hold the shining object in her arms. It was ever so disracting when it caught the light just right. What was it. She held it close to her face, eventually managing to get her eyes level with the two slits carved in it for seeing. Upon looking back at him, she froze. His skin, it matched her own. Sidus carelessly let the mask slide trough her long bony fingers to clash with the ground below. She was suddenly transfixed with him. And so she stood, wide-eyed and staring at him with an absolute curiousity.
