Deidara was originally from Iwagakure, although he readily abandoned the village for the opportunity of using his "art" more frequently. Deidara became an assassin bomber for hire, not caring who he worked with so long as he could use his artwork. Sometime after Orochimaru left the organization Akatsuki, Deidara was located by Itachi Uchiha, Kisame Hoshigaki, and Sasori, who were under the orders of the leader Pain to recruit him. Although, at first, Deidara refused, he quickly got into a small confrontation with Itachi, where Itachi forced Deidara to join by almost fooling Deidara into killing himself with his own clay explosives via genjutsu. Deidara, having been forced into Akatsuki and taking a huge blow to his ego, carried a loathing for Itachi throughout all of his time in Akatsuki, though he was intelligent enough to recognize Itachi as a more powerful opponent.
Quick to anger and annoy (if the right buttons are pushed), Deidara is a very hot-headed man. Something of a sadistic arsonist, he is not above relishing a good fight, and he often blows up his opponents in a very brutal fashion. Deidara's most distinctive trait, however, is his love of art. He will respect any form of it, even if it disagrees with his own. Deidara also has a habit of ending his sentences with nasal "hmm" or "un" sound, roughly translated as "yeah".
Deidara refers to his explosive ninjutsu as art, believing each bomb he makes to be a significant accomplishment. He refers to his style as superflat (refering to certain types of art), and claims pop (another art style) is dead. One of Deidara's catchphrases, "Art is a bang!" (or variations therein), was originally coined by famous Japanese abstract artist Tarō Okamoto (several of Deidara's explosives have resembled Okomoto's works too). Deidara is very proud of his art, to the point that he is simply unwilling to accept that anything could defeat it, leading to frequent overconfidence in battle.
Deidara refers to his partner Sasori as Master Sasori (サソリの旦那, Sasori no Danna) out of respect for him as a fellow artist. He also admits, at least outwardly that Sasori was more powerful than he was due to the respect he had for him. In spite of this, Deidara wasn't above goading his partner, and they frequently squabbled over the nature of true art (Deidara holding that art is transient and departing quickly; Sasori believing fine art is something wonderful that's left long into the future). This reflects their individual natures (Deidara makes clay sculptures that explode; Sasori makes long-lasting puppets out of humans). Deidara outwardly seems to respect Sasori's beliefs, but couldn't resist getting a final jab in after Sasori's death: "Like anything that is left for the future as a thing of eternal beauty..., all he did was get killed."
Deidara's partnership with his second partner Tobi, however, was very different. Tobi apparently held a great respect for Deidara and frequently called him "senpai" (senior). Tobi's carefree and goofy personality did not please Deidara, who believed that all Akatsuki members should be serious and calm. Tobi frequently and unintentionally angered Deidara, which usually resulted in him attacking Tobi in a comedic fashion (e.g., blasting him with his exploding clay or strangling him with his feet). In battle, however, the two easily set aside their differences and worked well together. Deidara also seems to have a minor respect for Tobi, as shown when he apologizes to his partner in his thoughts before he initiated his Self-Destruction.
Also, as revealed in the third databook; Deidara's favorite food is bakudan, a pun on the actual food (boiled eggs in surimi) and the Japanese word meaning bombs.
Deidara's gender is sometimes confused, due to the Japanese language's sparse use of third person pronouns, which forces translators to use their own ideas of Deidara's gender to make sentences flow smoothly. This caused a lot of confusion, since both "he" and "she" were used to refer to Deidara in early English fan translations. However, Deidara speaks of himself using male pronouns and was initially given a very deep, male voice in the anime. His current anime voice is significantly lighter, but still clearly masculine. But the ultimate "proof" was when he took his shirt off to access the enormous mouth on his chest.
Deidara, when partnered with Sasori, traveled to Sunagakure to capture Gaara and extract the Shukaku within him. When they got inside the village, Deidara was greeted by the Fifth Kazekage himself, and the two began to fight. Deidara's left arm was destroyed during the fight. Despite the fact that he had lost one arm, Deidara still managed to defeat the Kazekage by using the safety of Gaara's village as a distraction. Deidara then took the unconscious Gaara out of the village where his partner — Sasori was waiting. The two Akatsuki members then took their captive to their hideout where they began the three day long jutsu to extract the Tailed Beast out of its host while Team 7, and Team Guy attempted their rescue operation. By the time they broke into the hideout, the jutsu was completed and Gaara was dead. Naruto was enraged and began to chase after Deidara with Kakashi following him, leaving Sasori to deal with Sakura and Chiyo.
In the chase, Deidara first tried to separate Kakashi from him and Naruto by dropping explosive clay. When the attempt failed, he simply went faster, baiting Naruto. When Kakashi revealed his Mangekyo Sharingan, destroying Deidara's right arm, Naruto finally caught up with him. Deidara dodged the attack Naruto threw towards him and Naruto's shadow clones managed to tear Deidara's clay creation(which held Gaara within it) apart. Naruto then proceeded to attack Deidara up but he only managed to destroy Deidara's Clay Clone. Deidara meanwhile hid himself and learned that Sasori was dead, killed by Sakura and Chiyo. Team Guy found out Deidara's hiding place with Neji's Byakyugan.
Outmatched and missing both arms, Deidara managed to escape by setting off another larger explosion by eating the clay of the remains of his clay bird (which Naruto had tore up earlier when he tried to save Gaara). Kakashi sent the explosion into another dimension using his Mangekyo Sharingan to protect the group. Deidara survived and went to find his missing arm and ring. He then became Tobi's new partner after Tobi retrieved Sasori's ring.
Deidara accompanied Tobi to capture the Three-Tailed Beast, and makes it a point to argue with Tobi over who did the bulk of the fighting. By now, his arms have been sewn back on by Kakuzu.
Deidara attacked Sasuke after hearing of his (seemingly) killing Orochimaru. Sasuke's lightning-elemental Chidori proved a good counter to Deidara's earth-elemental clay bombs, and Sasuke managed to survive each new bomb Deidara used against him; however, Deidara managed to counter Sasuke's newly realized genjutsu abilities by only viewing Sasuke through his left eye, which allowed him to pierce visual illusions; this led to Sasuke being forced to run his own Chidori Nagashi through his body to purge it of C4 particles, which caused him tremendous harm. Deidara created this counter to the Sharingan-based genjutsu of the Uchiha clan to defeat Itachi and found that it worked well against Sasuke. Deidara was eventually defeated, but rather than telling Sasuke where Itachi was, he decided to feed himself clay in an attempt to self-destruct and kill Sasuke. The attempt failed, though, and Deidara was killed in the blast, while Sasuke summoned Manda to protect himself at the cost of Manda's life.
A fancy and skillful fighter, Deidara possesses special mouths in the palm of each hand and one giant mouth on his chest, to create Exploding Clay, chakra infused clay that detonates on command, this usually being Katsu (喝), along with a single-hand handseal held close to Deidara's mouth. This clay can be molded into a wide variety of shapes and forms, growing to large sizes when enfused with chakra (with Deidara performing the neccessary hand-seals) and can be controlled at will. This allows him to create living explosives to attack opponents at long range. Deidara can even create clones from the clay, named Suicide Bombing Clones, that can be a deadly surprise for opponents. Deidara's clay creations can range from microscopic to gigantic in size, allowing him to adapt to any situation. Deidara can also use the clay for other purposes, as he is frequently seen creating birds to be used for transportation. It seems he also knows Earth Release:Inner Decapitation Technique, because he was seen underground after his suicide clone exploded. He is also seen using it during his fight with Sasuke, when Sasuke survived C4 and landed on his clay bird.
In addition to his clay based abilities, Deidara is very intelligent, often using tricks, misdirection, and calculated gambles to get his explosives in range of an opponent. As a long-range specialist, he is weaker in close combat, but skilled enough to hold off a combat speicalist ninja like team Guy, handling a kunai in his mouth, and has a variety of techniques in his arsenal to escape close quarters when necessary. He also wears a scope on his left eye for long-range observation, and he has trained the eye itself to counter genjutsu, allowing him to see through and negate them. This was done in response to Itachi's powerful genjutsu skills, of which he had a considerable loathing and resolved to defeat if he got the chance. Deidara's abilities were well recognized within Akatsuki and the leader, Pain, openly admitted that he was something unique, and that his loss was a major blow to the group.
Deidara ranks his clay by number in a fashion similar to the C-4 explosive, the weakest being C-1 and the most powerful being C-4. The other clay ranks are much more dangerous than C-1, and any foe that sees Deidara use any rank higher than C-1 is usually one Deidara sees as a worthy opponent:
C-1: Deidara's most basic and versatile form of clay created from a single palm mouth. These are small animated dolls that often resemble small birds or insects. They have an explosive power similar to that of a hand grenade. Despite being his weakest bombs they can still be lethal at close range and are very mobile and agile.
C-2: These are large living clay statues, created by using both palm mouths together. The best example seen was a giant dragon that could create numerous other explosives from its own body; Tobi's reaction implies that the dragon is significantly more powerful than other C-2 level explosives.
C-3 "Ohako": His most powerful large scale bomb, this was an large immobile clay statue that drops on targets from above. Its explosive power was great enough to apparently destroy an entire hidden village.
C-4 "Karura": His most lethal explosive, Deidara eats and releases the clay out of his actual mouth, creating a giant copy of himself. This figure is actually a hollow shell that disintigrates, releasing a cloud of microscopic, tick-like bombs that invade the target though the lungs and the victim's skin pores and detonate inside the body, causing his victims to literally crumble to dust.
C-O Ultimate Art/Self-Destruction: Deidara also has a "final attack", a suicidal technique in which he eats a large ball of clay with the mouth on his chest, causing veins to erupt from the said mouth, and then spanning over Deidara's person. This consumes his entire body, condensing the body into a large black sphere with jagged teeth and pupil-less eyes. The sphere then opens up and detonates, destroying everything within a ten kilometer radius

Naruto's father, the Fourth Hokage, sealed the dangerous Nine-Tailed Demon Fox within Naruto's body, at the cost of his own life leaving him without a family.[24] With the villagers of Konoha always showing him animosity for being the container of the demon fox, Naruto never had a source of love or attention during his early childhood.[24] Desiring that which he has lacked all his life, Naruto's dream is to become Hokage, the village's protector, hoping that it will bring him the villagers' recognition and respect.[25] To assist him in gaining this title, Naruto possesses a fierce determination, always confident he can complete a given task with relative ease.[26] Naruto's efforts have proven successful as the series progressed, as many characters have reached the conclusion that Naruto will someday be an excellent Hokage.[27]
Since his introduction, Naruto's determination has resulted in some of his traits rubbing off on those around him, such that in Part II his teacher, Kakashi Hatake, notes this to be Naruto's unique power.[28] Gaara, after being defeated by Naruto in battle, discovers that true strength is found in fighting for one's friends, not for oneself.[29] These changes that other characters experience serve as the moral for the part of the story they take place in, and subsequently become the creed for the particular character's life.[30]
Through his ability to change others, Naruto has gained the friends that he lacked during his childhood. Among the many friendships he has formed, none are more prominent in the series than those he has with his two teammates: Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. With Sasuke, Naruto shares a highly competitive relationship that he likens to brotherhood.[31] Though Sasuke betrays Naruto and the rest of Konoha at the end of Part I, Naruto maintains his attachment to Sasuke, readily lashing out at anyone who speaks poorly of him.[32] With Sakura, Naruto possesses a deep dedication to her, rooted in the crush he has had on her for years. Naruto's commitment to Sakura is such that he will do anything to make her happy, vowing to someday return Sasuke to Konoha for her sake.
Because of the demon fox within him, Naruto has access to its great chakra reserves, allowing him to perform ninja abilities that someone of his age would ordinarily be incapable of using.[24] Though portions of the fox's chakra constantly mix with Naruto's own,[34] Naruto can forcibly draw upon its reserves by either submitting to rage[35] or by directly asking the fox for a donation of its strength.[36] Once doing so, a fox-shaped shroud appears around Naruto with a number of tails indicating his current level of strength. While each tail drastically increases his fighting strength, Naruto begins to lose his sense of self as more tails appear, completely losing himself once the fourth tail is activated.[37] Because he can quickly become a danger to those he cares for in these situations, Naruto has begun to limit his usage of the fox's power.[38]
Naruto takes advantage of his expanded chakra reserves throughout the series. His first and most recurring example of this is the Shadow Clone Technique, which creates any number of physical copies of the user though it requires a large amount of chakra.[24] Naruto, however, can create hundreds of clones at once without worrying about tiring out.[39] He has found a number of uses for these clones, such as overwhelming an opponent and scouting a large area in a short period of time.[40] His ability to summon toads to aid him in battle also relies on the fox's chakra, as he can only summon larger toads with the fox's help.[36] However, he also learns senjutsu - an ability that greatly enhances his power.
Rasengan, a concentrated ball of spinning chakra first created by his father, is Naruto's favored method of attack.[26] When performing the technique Naruto creates shadow clones to help him form the attack by manipulating the chakra together.[41] While capable of grinding into whatever it touches and causing great damage, Minato created the Rasengan with the intention of infusing it with his own elemental chakra.[42] Through repeated training with his shadow clones, Naruto has been able to infuse the Rasengan with his wind chakra.[43] This has resulted in the creation of the Wind Release: Spiraling Shuriken (風遁・螺旋手裏剣, Fūton: Rasenshuriken?), which damages what it hits on a cellular level but the hand he uses is damaged as well. [44]

Kidomaru (鬼童丸, Kidōmaru) is a member of the now deceased Sound Four.
Kidomaru generally sees a battle as a game, and often plays around with the opponent too much because he prefers to have fun seeing the opponent struggle. His speech also reflects this; when battling Neji Hyuga, he refers to Neji as a "minor character" and analyzes his situation using typical gaming language ("level" and "difficulty" wink .
Kidomaru makes a short appearance in this arc using a barrier technique along with the rest of the Sound Four: Jirobo, Sakon and Ukon, and Tayuya both from the inside and outside so that the Third Hokage cannot escape, nor can the ANBU get into the battlefield. When Orochimaru fled, he used Spiral Spider Web to stop pursuding ANBU.
Kidomaru uses his web techniques to wrap everyone on Team Shikamaru. Neji Hyuga, using his Gentle Fist is the only one able to cut through chakra and escapes from the web himself and thus finds him a good match with Kidomaru. They then battle, leaving the rest of the Konoha group to go ahead. He fights Neji using his spider techniques which, even with Neji's Eight Trigrams Sixty Four Palms, are difficult to defeat. He reveals a golden armor that is made from liquid secreted from his sweat glands that protects him from powerful attacks. He uses the same element of spider silk to make an arrow and discovers the Byakugan's blind spot. He activates Cursed Seal Level 2 and makes the arrow go right through Neji who later closes all of Kidomaru's chakra points and transfers chakra through the web to kill him eventually.
Kidomaru is the spider-like member of the Sound Four; he possesses four extra arms for a total of eight limbs, and has the ability to make webs. He makes his webs through a special type of liquid that is created by infusing spit with chakra. He can also create a thicker gold liquid that hardens into a chakra-blocking metal. This hardened material can be fabricated into body armor, kunai, or his especially deadly bow and arrow.
Kidomaru while in the second stage of his cursed sealWhen in his Level 2 cursed seal form, he becomes even more spider-like; his skin becomes darker, he gains horns on his forehead, shoulders and elbows, and grows long white hair. He opens the third eye on his forehead to improve his accuracy (which he normally keeps covered with his Sound forehead protector). However as Sakon and Tayuya comment he goes into that state way too easily. He also gains the ability to control the path of his arrows with chakra and thread. His abilities are not kekkei genkai, but clan-related.
Kidomaru is an excellent tactical analyzer, capable of figuring out his enemy's weak point quickly and efficiently, and also enjoys playing with his enemies before he kills them. He seems to prefer fighting from a distance, lending him a considerable advantage and allowing him to avoid close-combat. Close combat is his worst type of fighting.
