About
Specimen Name: ADAM
Genus: Unknown (Similarities to Lictor, Warrior, and Gene stealer)
Species: Tyranid
History: Codenamed "ADAM," this new breed of Tyranid seems to have been created for infiltration purposes by the Hive mind. It was sent many years ahead of its respective fleet (Unknown) and has traversed planets ever since. It has infiltrated Tau, Ork, Chaos, and human space, landing on Earth about a year ago. Most recently it has joined a group known as the Syndicate, hoping to prove Tyranid superiority and learn new culture. Whether or not being lonely and not having contact with the Hive mind for so long affected this decision, is also unknown.
Physiology: ADAM seems to have been created with the purpose of independent survival in mind. It is able to alter almost all the chemical processes in its body, and can rapidly evolve to new combat and environmental conditions. As such, its quite deadly. It has also exhibited insectile and reptilian abilities, such as clinging to walls and chameleon scales.
Abilities and Weapons: Created as an infiltrator first, ADAM has excellent stealth capabilities. Able to match its surroundings colors, scents, and heat makes it almost entirely invisible when fully engaged in stalking prey. When confronted with combat it is a quick and efficient killer, relying on speed over strength. Using diamond-hard rending claws, a powerful tail, and bio-morphs to quickly tear its foe apart.
Personality: Time away from its fleet has left ADAM with a trait uncommon to Tyranids. A persona. He is arrogant, believing his race to be the ultimate evolutionary masterpiece in the galaxy. In retrospect this is sad however, as it would almost seem his Hive Fleet has abandoned him (It wont answer his calls). His recent joining with the syndicate was hesitant at first, but lately it would seem he is warming up to them.
And to say Adam is heartless, cold, unfeeling killing machine would be incredibly incorrect.
He has 3 hearts
He has organs to regulate body temperature
His sense of touch is much more acute than a humans
Although the killing machine part...thats about right. He has been developing some sort of bond to the syndicate member "Jaus" recently, but whether or not Tyranids are actually capable of feelings and this bond is merely one that involves him not eating her, remains to be seen.
OFFSPRING!?: Before Adam underwent a metamorphosis prior to Christmas (went Human form for a few days) he had given a crushing hug to Jaus. In some way, his reconfiguring and unstable DNA somehow rubbed off on her and has caused minor mutations. These pale in comparison to the true effect, which wass Jaus being pregnant with their hybrid baby (Both were yet unaware) Jaus vomited the egg up during the Christmas party, and it has yet to hatch. Whether it will be a cold insect of death or a more human creature , only time will tell.
ITS WILL BE AMAZINGLY CUTE HOWEVER!
Organs:
-Hybrid Arolium/Pulvillus: ADAM has been seen on many occasions cling to almost any surface and able to make great leaps. This is accomplished through the unique combination on his legs, which uses the same purpose as the apaendages on flies (Sticking to surfaces) and Grasshoppers Crickets (Cushioning falls)
-Spiracles: Among some insects is this organ, which is similiar in appearance to gills. They line ADAM's sides and when needed, can open to directly deliver oxygen to his circulatory system. They open only when needed, and allow him to hold his breath and make absolutely no noise
-Spinnerets: Common in spiders, ADAM is equiped with one in each hand, between the middle and ring claw on his hands. Able to weave small webs efficiently, but it takes much longer and is almost impossible to create larger webs to catch prey. The webbing has shown itself to be quite durable, and can be used to restrain prey. Also shown to harden to a crystal-like state, but this serves no combat or hunting purpose.
-Stridulation: ADAM has ridges that line both his forearms and legs that seem to serve the same purpose as in crickets. By rubbing the ridges together in a tooth comb like way called Striulation, he is able to produce the same chirping effect. For crickets this is used to call for mates/warn off other males, and a quieter song used when the desired female is near. The idea of ADAM actually needing something is preposterous...yet he still has it for some unknown purpose...
-Timbal: Timbal is a term for a vibrating membrane in the abdomen of a male cicada, which is responsible for the characteristic sound produced by the insect. The paired timbals are located on the sides of Adam's torso. The timbals are regions of the exoskeleton that are modified to form a complex membrane with thin, membranous portions and thickened "ribs". These membranes vibrate rapidly, and enlarged chambers derived from the tracheae make Adam's body serve as a resonance chamber, greatly amplifying the sound. Again, whatever purpose this serves is utterly unknown...
-Circulatory System: Adams system for his blood and oxygen combines that of mammals, who have internal veins and arteries to convey blood, with the open circulatory system found in spiders. His body is filled with haemolymph, which is pumped through arteries by a heart into spaces called sinuses surrounding their internal organs. The combination of both systems is to insure his survival, even if one system should be attacked or fail.
-Chromatophors: The same cells found in both octopus and chameleons, these allow the Adam species to change it's color to that of its surroundings. Adam's are many times more advanced however, and allow him to mimic his surroundings so perfectly that he often will only appear as a blur or outline. He is in no way invisible, but when clinging to a wall or staying low to the ground, he is incredibly difficult to see.
-Compound eyes: Adam's eyes have gone through many stages of evolution, ending in what appear like shark eyes now. Inky black, the nictating membranes which cover them act with inner organs to see light and heat in different spectrums. Infrared, Thermal, and Night vision are all easily accomplished with these. Adam's preferred method of fighting and hunting is the thermal vision, which at close range allow him to see heat in a mammal's circulatory system, showing the prime locations of where to strike.
-Eco location: When his keen sight is taken away Adam still has the same ability as Dolphins and bats. This allows him to fight blind, and locate prey that have somehow cloaked themselves from his other senses.
-Tremor sense: Very rarely does he have to use it, but when all else fails Adam can attempt to focus on the tremors in the ground to obtain his prey's position and distance. This is a last resort method however, and Adam isn't very good at it.
Weapons:
-Tail: The most powerful weapon on Adam's body is his tail. Many time's stronger and more flexible than a regular scorpion's tail, it serves as the quickest way to deal with most foes. It is almost entirely muscle, covered in the same chitinous armor as the rest of Adam's body. The tip of the tail consists of the stinger, and the vesicle containing the venom glands. Using striated muscles in the stinger, he is able to regulate the does of venom injected into his victim. As Tyranids often do, Adam has incorporated hundreds of different types of venoms into his DNA memory. His glands are able to produce and store 2 different types of venom at any given time, and if need can swap them out for different venoms (Though the processes can take a few hours up to a full day, depending on the potency of said venom) He has a full list of deadly Neurotoxins and Necrotoxins, as well as paralyzing types of venom found in many of his insect brethren. His most common combination is a quick acting paralysis venom, which renders the user unable to move and to become unconscious the moment the venom is injected into the bloodstream. The 2nd is a deadly form of Tetrodotoxin and Necrotoxin, which causes paralysis, the destruction of cells through the bloodstream and body, and eventually death. The Toxin is quick and efficient, made mainly for assassination. If not treated in under a few minutes the subject will die. The tail is durable, and if cut off can be reattached by being held to the base for a long enough time that the cells re-unite and begin regeneration. The tail is however, MUCH weaker afterwards, and needs time to heal.
Its flexibility and muscle mass have also proven as Adam's only strength based weapon, able to club enemies and swat them away with great force. Though this unorthodox usage has been rare.
-Rending Claws: Adam's rending claws resemble chitinous, scaled human hands, the last segments of the fingers ending in wickedly pointy claws. The tips are diamond sharp and able to slash through flesh and light armor like butter, and when applied with enough force can also rip through metal and the like. Again, this is mainly used for assassination or for slicing through a foes weak points during melee combat.
Weaknesses:
-Fire: Like many Tyranids before him, Adam has a physical, and almost primal weakness and fear of fire. He has no organs or method to make himself flame resistant, and the specialized organs inside and out of his body and be wracked with pain by extreme heat (he has evolved layers of membranous protection in the past to survive superheated planets, but the protection is minimal at best) He is very careful around fire, and tends to avoid it when he can.
-Electricity: Ever since he landed on Earth and was lured into a bug zapper, he has fear and avoided electricity. It seems the haemolymph that fills his body is an excellent conductor, and too much of a charge could easily fry his innards and kill the bug. Even more wary of it than fire, Adam distrusts most anything that uses much electricity. He also has a fascination with glowing lights, which can keep him almost hypnotized for extended periods of time.
