Should Gay Marriage Be Legal? The Best answer ever

Yes.

Mostly because the reason's people tell me are kind of silly and monotonous.

1: Leviticus says its an abomination.

Leviticus also gives step by step instructions on how to slaughter animals for sacrifice, says you can't reap your fields entirely, that you can't wear clothing of two fibers, and that marrying your ex-wife's sister before she dies is a perversion. Also, the bible is an incomplete gathering of books and teachings. They completely left out all things that were written in greek, like oh ‘Tobit’, ‘Judith’, or ‘Susanna’, or maybe even ‘The Gospel of Mary’ (which I highly recommend)

So saying the bible is "the word of God" before familiarizing yourself with everything that could possibly be "the word of God" as though His holy digits were the one grasping the pen that scratched the text instead of a bunch of spiritually inspired people with a serious case of the plot bunnies is being closed minded and ignorant. I suggest looking up the Catholic Church's banned book list and start thinking for yourself.

2. Marriage is an institution defined by the 'church' and should be respected for it's religious roots.

Marriage existed long before the christian faith ever did, and there are far more religions than christianity. Paganism, neo-paganism, polytheism, taoism, Shintoism, the list goes on. And homosexuality has been in history just as long. The Greeks and Romans didn't have a problem with it until the Church took over, Japan considered it the purist form of love until it tried to appear civilized to the western community, and it has influenced art, philosophy, and lifestyle throughout the ages.

Before I get a million replies correcting me, yes I know Greece and Rome had varying ideals on homosexuality like our world does today, I'm saying it's been around long before Christianity and will be around long after.

3. It's evolutionarily impractical. We, as a species should strive for our next step in the chain, and homosexuality hinders that as it brings our reproductive rate down.

First, since when have we done anything to further our evolution, if anything we've been hindering it with our constant restraints of whats deemed "normal." from plastic surgery to removing additional digits. If a person has a webbed toe, isn't that a sign of evolution? Especially if it's a genetic trait. Why call it a mere genetic anomaly? By conforming ourselves to what we have claimed is "the image of god" we limit ourselves to progress.

Second, how do we know homosexuality isn't the future of evolution? It's in the nature all around us, from insects to cattle to our very own pets, and if Homosexuality is in fact a genetic trait wouldn't forcing the homosexual to procreate in a heterosexual manner be considered continuing this potential destructive lifestyle? And what of unisexuals? The woman with men's genitalia surely couldn't marry another woman because she herself is woman, but would a straight man want to marry a chick with a p***s? Also, a man in body and mind finds that his DNA reads XX, making him genetically female, is he then not allowed to marry a woman? And the same for a female who finds herself with XY?

4: (last one, because this is getting long) Marrying would allow them to have children, introducing this dangerous lifestyle to them and perverting their minds.

Most homosexuals grow up in a heterosexual environment, as such by this theory they should be heterosexual. Also, many children grow up in single parent households, have parents with alcohol, drug, or smoking addictions, or in an abusive environment and only a small portion of them continue the trend as they get older. In a recent study most highschool boys who were raised without a father say they would never leave their own child, even if they had to quit school to support them. Likewise, most young girls whose mothers had them in their teens choose to wait until they're married, many claiming "you can't always trust birth control."

Using this logic, how could anyone possibly say a child growing up in a homosexual environment would thus be homosexual?

So with those excuses aside, what other reason could you possibly have for withholding even the term "marriage" from a homosexual couple?
