It's one thing to ask "wait, what?" if you're having an actual conversation and you didn't quite HEAR what the other person said. It's quite another to be outright rude and ignorant. It's really not a fine line, either, or accidental, and I've got absolutely no interest in conversing with someone who purposely acts like a d**k.
