I thought it was more than just listening to punk, playing punk and dressing differently..
I just assumed that he was because he was a rebel. (he did drugs, got expelled from school twice,he also stopped school to concentrate on his band) and he didnt care what others thought about him.
He listened to punk and started playing punk.
his family was working class.
when they first formed the band and started playing in clubs they were different from any other bands that were playing there because their music wasnt as hard and their lyrics are mainly about girls but they didnt change and when they started playing people started being fans of them.

theyve changed their sound over 21 years, but "Punk is always something that’s going to be with us and to try and explain that would be stupid at this point."
I dont exactly know why theyve changed, but its definitely not for money. they are NOT sellouts. yeah of course theyre rich and stuff but unlike most people they never spend a lot of money on fancy cars, fancy houses or fancy clothes. In fact, they wear the exact same clothes every single night for concerts XD
theyre really humble people. theyve said that if they could, they'd charge dollar for a ticket. And they really love their fans and they love entertaining them.

I dont know, maybe theres a lot of definitions of punk? He'l always be punk to me.

okay i understand why its gets on your nerves but what exactly is a punk lifestyle? Being rebelious? i'll have to admit that I dont exactly know what it is, but Billie's history and his life, it just somehow seems punk to me. Its not just because he says he is and i'll automaticly agree. I know its stupid to say this and not exactly knowing what punk is, but i am pretty stupid anyway. So tell me, what is your definition of punk?

i havent posted in the music forum for months o_o
their music have never been really punk before, but they are influenced a lot on punk. Billie and Mike used to be really in to heavy metal, which is the reason they ever got to be friends. Their lifestyle is punk. I just know it. And if you want to disagree, go ahead. Does it really matter?. I dont enjoy arguing, either. I'm not one of those girls who like Green Day just because they're hot. they've changed their type of music over 21 years as Green Day.
Everyone is arguing about whether Green Day is punk or not. Maybe thats the reason theres so many haters on gaia? I mean, is it really a big deal if they are punk or not?
just curious.. what do you think about their music? i know its not punk, but surely it isnt horrible like others say it is, right?

exactly, or to 21.
This is a ******** oath you take, and it's serious. I hate kids who sell out with no qualms, and then talk s**t to ME for still being edge. Like seriously, ******** you! I'm strong and hold true to my convictions, just because you couldn't doesn't give you the right to talk down to me.
Do you go to shows out there often? and props to you man, for trying to start something. Seriously.

wow that few edge kids? Jersey's got a really big amount., guess I got lucky with that.
And it's nice to meet you Casey!
Yeah, I can't tell you how many kids I've come accross wearing my children, my bride, a day to remember, and other stupid s**t like that, saying it's hardcore, and they're edge. It just makes me LOL for days. There are still new hardcore bands coming out though, that ******** kill. I saw trapped under ice 2 days in a row last week, and it was ******** ridiculous. As long as good, hard working bands like that are coming out, hardcore will survive.
I can't remember if there was a specific song that made me want to go edge, but bane's "superhero" was the reason I quit smoking cigs like 2 years ago. The rest was a progressive thing. I waited 6 months before I claimed.

Yeah, january 2nd was my six months. I waited a long time to go edge, I wanted to make sure it was the right choice for me. It's been the best choice I've made in years.
I hate that, I know straight edge is open to anyone, but I see so many kids who claim edge and know NOTHING about the music. They don't even know minor threat, or SSD, or how any of it began. And they don't even know modern straight edge hardcore bands, which sucks. It's cool to find someone on here who knows their s**t, so thanks for that.
I'm kiba by the way.

It's only their second album, the earlier ones are usually the better ones anyway. I really enjoy that album.
I listened to Conflict's album The Final Conflict, pretty good stuff. Very classic sounding.

Black Flag, The Misfits, The Clash... Lot's of better-known bands. Like I said, I need to start digging around for the underground bands. What's one of your favorites?

I'm not a musician because of the mainstream stuff. The first music I was ever in to was Green Day BEFORE they were big. And I'm usually listening to AFI and Ramones. Sometimes Bad Religion. I listen to a lot of others but not as much.

Well punk doesn't all sound the same. And yeah they did sound a bit like pop-rock... But not as much as they do now. I think what my point to begin with is that punk or not, Green Day are phenomenal musicians. They are the band that inspired me to become a musician. I listen to them heavily, along with a bunch of punk.
