When I think of where we have been and the paths we have traveled, the enormity of our journey strikes me.
When I reach out and touch you, the journey seems but an instant and time stands still. Glorious ecstasy fills me then as the moment stretches out.
Though it only seems as moments as we touch throughout the passing days, to me, we have lived countless lifetimes.
Forgive my ignorance of Canadian acronyms, but... "JP"? "Justice of the Peace"? ""Just Peachy"? "Jam Prophet"? I assume it's the first. In any case, I think I get what you're saying.
So...there aren't little courthouse marriages in Canada, or just in your province? Either way, that's another thing I wasn't aware of. I guess you learn something new every day.
In any case, now that I understand your situation, yeah, it makes much more sense why you'd go the route you did. That said, I suspect that if you did want a free wedding, you might be able to get a Mormon bishop to do it for you, even if you weren't Mormon. But that's just a guess (an educated one, though), so take that with some salt.
I guess I was just assuming that Canada was more like Great Britain than like the US, and I met some folks in Britain who did/considered doing the private ceremony in a local courthouse.
But... yeah. I wouldn't advise anyone to be a hypocrite anyway. That said, I've met plenty of people in my short time who claimed one denomination or other, and yet rarely attended, so... maybe "active" is a relative term, when it comes to church attendance? wink
So, that begs the question: if you've already arranged your own "trap," and if you're already considered "married" by family and government... what persuaded you to go that route instead of just getting a "standard" marriage (even just a courthouse marriage)?
Ah, so it's a common law marriage. Right, I had forgotten that Canada did that (or at least some of the provinces). I should have figured as much, because it's incredibly common in Britain, from what I experienced, at least.
I still haven't quite grasped the concept, though, that people can live together for decades, raise children, and live as if they *were* married, and yet still claim a fear that officially getting married would somehow ruin things. I've come up with a small list of reasons--and they make a certain sort of sense--but if you could help me understand that better, it would do much to help me solve a problem that has had me perplexed since '97.
It's always good to get additional perspective; I'm such a myopic idiot sometimes.
I *believe* you were the one commenting in the "marriage is unnecessary" thread, and you talked about how you've basically gotten yourselves into a marital arrangement--complete with you using his last name, and having power of attorney, etc. without actually *getting* married.
Anyway, you're only 36. That's not old at all. But if there are legitimate medical conditions, then, yeah, maybe a hospital birth would be a good idea in your case.
Ah, free thinking. We need more of that. You made the best case for a marriage-substitute relationship I think I've ever heard, so regardless my personal opinion, I take my hat off to you for having a solid understanding of your own position. smile
My wife had homebirths with children 4 and 5, but a midwife was only present for child #4. #5 came out the same way he got in; just the two of us alone in the bedroom. wink
We're working on our 6th.
Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you, such as it is. smile
lol ya...i ended up giving the thread over to someone else because i have too much on my plate recently to uphold a guild. i have my college, my Lottery, and my up and coming art shop to take care of. i had to quit all of my guilds that i owned and participated in. I believe the owner is still Chaotic jester of Envy.
And i will add you with this one and my new main. her name is Aukah ^ ^
lol it probably wasnt 4 years. but we were together for a little over four years. i cant remember when i met you too. ^ ^
im glad you remembered us though.
And i believe you were pregnant with a boy at the time.
you were the one who gave me confidence about being a sub, and made me realize how much i want to be a stay at home sub and wife. ^ ^
believe it or not, this isnt my main anymore. i use this account for my Lottery, but we can still talk with her if youd like. ^ ^
FIOCE....oh my god......i found you. i cant believe it.
i know you probably dont remember me, especially since this is a new account of mine, and i cant remember which one i met you on....
but you and khunn changed my life.
i accepted you into my guild just a few seconds ago.
i let someone else take over it for me, though so i dont know how its going in there anymore, but im so glad i checked in there. once i saw your name in the join requests i remembered you and khunn.....all this time i had forgotten your username and was looking for you.
i wanted to thank you and khunn.
you were the one who introduced me to the D/s lifestyle and i am forever greatfull.
You two taught me and my Dom all we know about the lifestlye and it gave us 4 years of happiness in our relationship.
unfortunately, he has abandoned me and gave up on alot of things. i dont know what happened to him. but a new dom found me over a month ago, and i couldnt be happier.
here i am, rambling away. ^ ^
i guess im just so excited i found you again...
i think my name was [Kioku], and my Doms name was [Zai] or something like that <3 i have had a few accounts since....
but its okay if you dont rmember me, i just wanted to say thank you to you both....
so much....
Recently returning from a sort of TCC hiatus, Messenger_Of_The_Moon has decided she's going to devote herself once more to keeping the guild alive and well. For those of you who have not checked the guild lately, some spring (or summer) cleaning has been done in the main forum, and a major announcement has been posted.
In case you've not read the announcement yet, here are the basics of all this: Inactive members are going to be plucked from the guild once a month or so once more, and a NEW off-site has been recently finished thanks to the hard work of Messenger and Metamorphosis Lycanthropy both.
Two people alone can't keep the guild alive, though. We've got precious few members and want to keep one of the most awesome BDSM communities on Gaia alive and well. A new profiles thread has been posted in the guild's main forum once more, and once you've posted your new profile, you'll get a link to the brand new off-site! Keep in mind the old profiles thread is located in the Thread Graveyard if you have information you'd like to retrieve.
So I ask now that you all start posting once more, but if you've decided TCC is no longer for you, just send a brief PM back saying as much so we won't bother you anymore.
Thanks,
The TCC Staff
P.S. I'm sorry for the wall of text, but I couldn't send it in a PM sweatdrop
There's still the insane wait times for Canada if you don't have a life threatening situation. And our hospitals are better equipt (Technologically). You're right though, you'd certainly be paying less for getting treated. the goal in America is to...avoid injury >_>
Yeah, the started tightening down on the border. I had to get a passport to go to Canada now. (Not that I couldn't just hop the border)
UHC isn't free though, you still have to pay for it through taxes. However, with having 3 kids I think you're definately getting your money's worth opposed to other Canadians.
G'night. Hard to believe there are Gaians on here so old ><
Well, I don't really want to be super-wealthy. That would take a lot of work. (Not that I would be against having a lot of money). For awhile my Dad was unemployed and was a stay at home Father. Personally I didn't like whenever my parents cooked because they SUCK at it. My Dad's girlfriend actually cooks pretty well and it's the first time I've been actually sitting down to eat (I like it!). Daycare is just plain horrible. That's what my parents would do with me (When they were both working) I would always just be playing with myself and I constantly felt trapped.
I think that I could be a much better parent then mine were, I just worry about if my kids would grow up right, and what kind of Job I could get that would support a family. I kind of want to be a writter, but that doesn't seem like a career that could 'Bring home the bacon'
Yeah, I hate those people...I grew up with a lot of them...It hurt, but I'm getting over it and trying to reverse all that damage from my childhood.
I don't know about old fashion, I think that if I could be in a marriage with one parent staying home that would be nice but it seems like a lofty goal.
