"Exactly." He gives a sheepish nod to the bedroom door. "I'm still wondering why he doesn't bust out the machines and gets the chores done himself, but I can't complain. He's the one giving me shelter. Though... If you want any information you're going to have to get it from him, too. As I've explained to your father before I have no idea what the course of events are after my arrest. There, I gave you a lead, you can choose to chase it a little further down the rabbit hole if you'd like, junior detective." His words were light, but were definitely not hiding the sudden edge that came with them. A bit too forced and tense.

"I'm not sure how your size changing works, but if your weight happens to increase too I'm not sure if the floor would hold up. Please don't, I have no intention of fixing the floor and the ceiling of the neighbor downstairs."

"It's not fooling when you kind of don't have a choice, is it? One who makes the decisions around here isn't me, I'm just the fellow who does the chores and things that he can't do on his own. Other than that I think I'm pretty much at his mercy, and him at the girl's. If I were to tell her, that might either make her scared or not believe me. I don't think I know her well enough to say. But I can assure you! I'll get fried if I do that."
He blinks, his expression remaining blank.

"Ebele, I would like to remind you at this point that you were the one who entered the house on your own accord. Formalities aside now, I wouldn't be able to do anything that might involve your family even if I wanted to. Dead people can't hurt you if you're still alive, at most haunt you, right? I can't do either, and what makes you think I want to burn myself again with that information?"

"Basically shot myself in the foot for that. Thanks for the reminder. You don't word it verbally, but with a... Hmm.... homicidal maniac around it's not easy to not think it, don't you find? Now, what other assumptions have you made about the household? I'd like to hear it, it's okay if you'd rather talk about something else, however. Like your family? How are you and your father doing these days? Other than the usual, I suspect!"
He catches himself before he laughs. Oop. Good nature was not his forte at all.

"I did fix your rib. Pretty sure it would have been a lot worse if you had to deal with a frightened heavyweight like him with your chest acting up every so often. Suit yourself, though."
He ends up only pouring one cup for himself, leaving both cups on the table and pulling up two chairs, of which he took one to sit on.

".... What? Let me guess. You think I may have offed them too? Sorry, but no. They're on a business trip overseas. Marie's left in company of her uncle till they get back. Don't really like their idea of parenting, but who am I to say? Just feel it's better for the child to grow up with their own parents and not a surrogate keeper, but in times like these careers tend to get the higher priority."

"Nah, that's only because, as Pendleton put it, 'they don't know I exist'. Which I kind of intend to keep that way, in case they get any funny tipoffs from your side. Don't want that to happen, now would we? Care for a drink? I think there's still some of that thin yogurt in the fridge. Let me check."

He goes and digs out a bottle and grabs three cups from the shelf.

"Hmm? Oh, no, I didn't find it. Isn't mine, per se, isn't his either. Belongs to the little girl sleeping in the bedroom. And... eh? Pendleton's scared of crows? Oh right, that time in the lobby, eh. Made for a pretty good distraction, but I don't exactly know why. Haven't asked him about it, but now that you mentioned it, mind not asking him about it while I'm around? He screams loud enough to wake up the entire block."

"True. I guess I still have much to learn about culture. And fitting in. Right now there's only so much you can do when people keep noticing the damn ribbon before anything else."

He shrugs, red eyes watching Ebele carefully. If anything were to happen in the house it was going to be Tyrone coming after him. Much like the sleeping robot and that little girl. Ironic. He seemed to just be pissing off all the father-daughter relationships lately. So much for bedside manner.

Prior experience goes to show people won't listen while they are in a state of anything other than neutrality. Which I suppose you aren't at the moment? I don't blame you. Matter settled."

He rubbed his face, then went back to watching Rice interestedly.
"Squid, I think. They use it as a form of either endearment or a good-hearted insult around here. Although I still don't get the saying 'blur like sotong' with its grammatical errors and whatnot."

"Allo, Rice you sotong. Um. Did I get it right....? Eurgh, I'm still bad with the local language at the moment, do pardon me, ahaha." Just at the last moment does he remember not to smile. No good scaring them here.

"Got to be frank with you here, Ebele."
He shrugs coldly, expression taking on a darker tone.
Yet.
"At this point I don't think it's going to help if I tell you how the relationship is like between killer and the killed, but I can at least tell you that I would choose to have kept to the Oath had I the choice."

"Well, it was a bad kind of turn of events. Can't be helped, I suppose. Aside from the whole 'homicide' thing though, putting that aside. If you hadn't seen that, or your father figuring it out, do you think things might have still been the same? I mean, seeing as the only major thing that derailed what people might call a 'friendship' would be just that. I don't know."

He catches sight of the wing, and quickly glances at the bedroom door behind him and back.

"Oh hello, Rice. Mind if you stay in there? I don't really want people screaming in the house now."
