About
I'm Duncan (Nom de plume. I find my real name... boring.), and I like exotic things of all sorts, shapes, and sizes. Here's a list of my favourite exotic things, in fact:
Foreign languages (I have eleven foreign language dictionaries:
French
Spanish
Italian
German
Russian
Latin
Japanese
Mandarin Chinese
Irish
Scottish
Classical Greek
I see no reason not to get more, and am hoping to get Welsh, Dutch, and Arabic soon. I'd also like a good Hebrew one.)
Barbarians (Such an anachronistic term. The barbarian tribes were hardly so uncivilized as the Greeks and Romans would have others believe.)
The British (As an American, I find the Brits somewhat exotic, and am quite the Anglophile. I use British spellings instead of American ones for a reason, you know.)
The Irish, Scottish, and Welsh
The French
Europe in general
The Native Americans
Asia and the Pacific
Latin America
Africa
The Middle East
The American Southwest
Alaska
Pirates
Wild Animals (I love wildlife, especially predators. I am quite the environmentalist.)
Mythology of all sorts
Ancient Civilizations
Military technology (Ships, jets, vehicles, small arms, artillery - it's all fascinating. I have a hard time deciding whether warships, combat aircraft, armoured vehicles, support weapons, or small arms are more interesting)
History, especially military history
Alternate history - The only thing better than history is that which didn't happen
Supernatural creatures, especially werewolves
Elves
Outdated weaponry
I'm sure I could add much, much more to this list, but who can think up all their favourite stuff at once?
I also love Star Trek (all series except Enterprise, which I don't hate but never really watched) a great deal, and I find Mr Sulu to be my favourite character and his actor, George Takei, to be my favourite actor.
