Eeep! No, not even close! I already missed my Mom's birthday (April 27th) and we've done it before where we give her something bigger for both her birthday and Mother's Day, but I don't have a clue! Other than a sewing machine, which she may or may not REALLY want, and which would cost a fortune... She's so hard to shop for! If I made something I'd want it to be useful, since she already has sooooo many knickknacks, but I don't know what crying
That's a good idea. I'll go exploring! I do plan to wait a week before throwing myself into everything, though. That'll let me research options, help my Grandmom train and settle her new dog (which we're picking up from the shelter tomorrow!), and find out if I may or may not get a job at the local zoo I'd have to factor in. I should be hearing back from the zoo by the end of the week... It may not be for another couple weeks until I know for certain, however, because there will probably be interviews and then the candidates have to be considered...
Derps, you are so awesome. Thank you for supporting me all the way! heart
I'm thinking about that. There is also a riding program for kids with disabilities looking for volunteers, and I'm fairly familiar with horses. Another shelter (no-kill too!) could use people to foster baby kittens (who will need lots of regular, round the clock care) until they're old enough to be adopted, and I'd love that, too. So much to choose from! I just need to actually choose sweatdrop
Well, I've been incredibly lazy... I slept almost ALL DAY today, and I'm pretty disgusted with myself. I have to learn how to do constructive things or I'm going to be miserable and pathetic for the rest of my life crying I do mean to look into relief efforts that I could help with--like rebuilding and stuff--after the tornadoes. I always wanted to rebuild the places hit by Hurricane Katrina, but I never went and didn't feel like I had time. I certainly have time NOW...... Well, I have to hear about the zoo job next week sometime (they say I should hear back end of next week!) and help my Grandmom--she's adopting a super-sweet 2-year-old English Springer Spaniel Mix girl dog, and I'm going to help her settle the dog. We're going to pick her up Monday morning Grandmom made her decision overnight last night, and I had a hard time sleeping, I was so wound up... I'm really excited, and the dog is just wonderful. I know I have to hold back some so the dog bonds primarily with my Grandmom, but I still intend to do whatever I can to help 3nodding I have to look into volunteering, and soccer season is coming up... I may still learn how to be a productive person in time to go to college next semester but it'll be close............
*giggles* I haven't seen it yet, either. I like being a kid *mischievous grin* It's more fun. Since I can pass for a 13-year-old I can hang out with kids, too, without being found out blaugh That way I get to hang with people who like fun!
Hey, how are you? The tornadoes didn't hit anywhere near you, right? We had strong winds yesterday--921 people in my town (not my city, my suburb) lost power, but we didn't. Windstorms aren't that unusual here, but the story of the tornadoes on the news made this one seem scarier to me. I don't think I've heard of powerlines down across fairly large roads, either, although trees going down and taking out power lines--often just for a couple people--is relatively common.
*giggles* Poor you! My family has it's bad points, but I love seeing them anyways. Usually the flick is a group choice, but my Dad's sister's family had to cancel our plans when my cousin caught a cold (Grandmom really worries about getting sick), so we scrapped the "2 movies in different rooms" plan--that one had the "chick flick" tear-jerker for the adult women, and Megamind for us kids and my uncle. I would've enjoyed seeing Megamind again... Oh well. If we haven't already all seen it by then, we might watch Hop. At thanksgiving we all watched and enjoyed Toy Story 3, and before that (I don't remember the holiday) the adults watched one movie while us kids watched Iron Man 2 (although my little brother watched How to Train Your Dragon). I'm officially part of the kids group--which is basically the offspring.
I'm not sure how much fun that game was at the end...it got kind of nuts, and I wasn't trusting a guy who'd been my ally since the beginning...I was convinced he was the sniper, but it turns out he wasn't. I was in such a bad mood about everything last night... Oh well. I guess it is just a game; I'm working on calming down. Maybe I can persuade the person I brought back to donate to my quest if she wins lots of gold? I know that's greedy...
ANYWAYS! Um, Easter was good. My brother traded me 10 pieces of chocolate for half of my bag of jellybeans, which was a pretty good bargain for both of us. I couldn't watch the movie my Grandmom picked out because it was such a tear jerker...I left after about 5 minutes How about you? How was your Easter?
Thanks! I miss talking to you too heart I'm involved in this game called Death Note and it's getting intense... It isn't so much fun anymore. It's in the Investing Elite guild; I think you can look at it, at the thread. *sigh* I just got a VERY threatening note. The notes are sent along with an anonymous gift, so they really are anonymous... Grrrrr. I HATE people trying to manipulate me.
OK!! I'll take you lots of pics biggrin That IS funny--he actually insulted how your character hit??? What a lack of imagination! That's hilarious!!
Well, Chobits does have some "eye-candy" in it, and since one of the main characters is a humanoid computer starting its (her) memory over from scratch, she doesn't exactly realize what's proper or not, and I hear that's PARTICULARLY emphasized in the anime, so a lot of it is pretty dirty sweatdrop The story is amazing, though!
That is kinda funny! I think it's great you can take that attitude towards it; I probably would have been upset. He sounds like he could use some patience! Ah well, you get crazies everywhere.
Oh hey, guess what! I decided I'm going to a (pretty local) anime convention this Sunday. It's sort of a last minute decision... I have to decide what to go as! I mean, I don't want to go crazy, and there isn't time (and I'm not motivated enough) to make something elaborate, but dressing up would make everything more fun... I need to go check out a thrift store for ideas. I don't know if you read/watch much manga/anime, but I was thinking about maybe being a persocom from the manga Chobits. There is an anime, but everyone warns me against watching it--my friend says "it was made for dirty old men"--but the manga has a really sweet story, even if there's a little too much "guy appeal," if you catch my meaning.
I just like to know what's going on with my friends, so I initiate. It doesn't really happen if I don't. redface I LOVED Megamind! It is on my list of DVDs I eventually want in my DVD library. So is Tangled I FIGURED her hair would get cut off at the end--to free her from it, you know?--and I figured it was with the mirror when it broke, but I never guessed it would be Eugene as he lay dying with only her hair capable of healing him! That was so beautiful!!! Maybe it's just because I was a little too into the movie, and therefore missing nuances, but it seemed to me the relationship could have been a little more deeply developed.
PS--You roused my curiosity. TELL ME YOUR FUNNY STORY blaugh
I hope they were listening, too. Poor Derps! Poor entire military!! This is something the government should be super concerned about, especially since America is FIGHTING in WARS right now!! Much more crucial than the issue holding things up. They had better make this work, or the idiots might find me on their doorsteps with......I dunno, something menacing. Maybe just notecards so I can yell at them really efficiently without forgetting anything? I can be pretty fierce when people I care about get messed with.
Hey, has anything else been going on? Up to anything kinda fun? *hoping to cheer Derpy up* My family just watched Tangled last night. It's a typical Disney movie, but it was sweet and fun, and perfect for people in sad moods. I thought the ending was sweet, and the scene with the lights... That's all I'll say, though, because I don't want to spoil it!
I agree. This is a crazy religiousness fight. It's stupid to try to make blanket legislation anyways, and now it's become idiotic. I didn't realize the facts you just told me... I can't believe these people managed to get elected. *sigh* It's probably because intelligent, caring people just aren't interested in the stupidity of government. *sigh* I really, really hope they drop the issue soon so your hubbs gets his paycheckn
The government is fighting over whether or not Planned Parenthood's funding should be cut? THAT'S what's causing the stupid hold-up? Just......wow. WOW. I know some people who don't like planned parenthood because it allows abortions, but I think a child deserves a loving family... This is something each individual needs to deal with personally, not something crazy for a few to decide on for everyone. I can't believe people are this nuts! *sigh*
Well, Derpy, I'm always happy to lend you an ear (or an eye, I guess, since I'm technically reading...) so feel free to vent whenever you need to 3nodding I'll keep praying for you, and I hope everything turns out!!
eek
Oh, poor Derpy! I heard the news about the potential gov't shutdown, but I didn't know the military would be affected! That's awful!! Oh, poor you and hubbs... Well, I'll pray for you guys... (although I don't know whether you're religious, so...) I hope everything turns out well! It's idiotic things have gotten this bad in the gov't--I mean, one of the first things you learn as a little kid is how to get along with people, and the importance of compromise. Why are adults having so much trouble with that? Did they all have deprived, weird childhoods? *sigh* Don't mind me and my venting, sweetie. I think it was really sweet of you to help at an adoption event! Was it pet adoption? That's my guess, although I'm checking to be sure wink I'm relieved you're not offended! I can be very bad at reading cues, so don't mind my misunderstandings, either. We have a couple of neighborhood kids being weird.... My mom was just out walking the dog, and a couple came over to her and wouldn't leave her alone until she accepted the penny they wanted her to take. Later they came and told her that was their penny, and to give it back, so she did--she didn't see any point to complaining--and then, a few minutes ago, someone dropped a penny through our mail slot... They're probably getting some strange type of laughs out of it, but I really can't fathom what on earth they're doing!
I know what you mean about guests and cleaning (although I can't imagine cleaning for EIGHT HOURS without dropping dead or something!!) and you have my deepest sympathy... I hope at least your hubbs appreciated your effort!
It's great to run into you today!
*huggles* heartheartheart
I'm so sorry--I didn't mean to offend you! It just sounded like you were phasing Gaia out of your life, and I wanted to be sure we stayed in touch. I luffles you, Derps! Do you want to talk about what's been making this week tough? I'm here for you, girl! heart
