America has one of the tougher visa/citizenship requirements in the world. From what I hear, it's much easier to get citizenship/residency in Canada. Positively speaking, health care in Canada is much cheaper than in America at this point. It is difficult to say within a few years time though, since America appears to be making some major reforms on its own health care system.

Of course, you'll probably still want to do visa status for your husband to go to America, regardless of place of residency, in case you want him to visit your parents over the holidays or something. Expect it to take a few months minimum; so might as well start applying it before your life starts to get really hectic. I had friends from Taiwan who went to America for the first time. The ones who lacked technical backgrounds had to apply twice, since their first times were rejected.

Oh, and if you want your kids to have the choice of being American or Canadian, you will have had to stay in America for a minimum of 16 years. So there is also that possibility that you will remain in America if you want to open up this possibility. I know this stuff because my wife is Japanese. razz

They're afraid of false marriages. Be prepared to wait a few months in the process. I have a friend whose dad also went through the process. They ask surprisingly intimate questions about your private lives, so you might want to be prepared for that.
