---Aerith was saved at a young age from her homeworld, Radiant Garden, by Cid Highwind. As she looked back at that world, then overflowing with heartless, she was accompanied on the gummi ship not only by Cid, but also by Leon and Yuffie. They escaped to Traverse Town where many people who had their worlds being overtaken by heartless also fleed to. Radiant Garden came to be called Hollow Bastion. Aerith learned as much as she could about a philosopher named Ansem who had led her homeworld until the heartless took over. Once she, Leon and Yuffiie learned about the powers of the Keyblade Master, they sought to find him. Ironically, one day he appeared in Traverse Town. Leon, Aerith and Yuffie were much older than they had been when they first arrived and were able to guide him through his adventures. Sora helped recover Hollow Bastion which came to be known as Radiant Garden once again as Cid, Leon, Aerith, and Yuffie formed a Restoration Committee to make Radiant Garden look just as beautiful as it had long ago.
