Wow, sounds like you're being super busy. How are you handling the workload?
Having more than one skill is always good...keeps your flexible in your job options too.
Speaking of basics, I've been going back and doing some technical exercises and working my technique as well. After graduating, my practice times have become irregular and my resolution for this year is to kick myself back into disciplinary mode...which means a regular practicing schedule. Let us both work hard!
I've been teaching piano and theory, not full time, but I will try and answer your questions if I can. Go ahead and email me, I've sent you my address in the PM.
I don't have the recording for the concert, but I do have a few older ones lying around, including the two tracks I shared with you and antaine a long time ago. If you're interested I can certainly dig them out and send you a couple more to listen to. ^_^

Haha yea, lots of people don't know about the modes, although we constantly hear it. And I guess it's more of a matter of memorization with you if you have to hear the song first before reading it. :3

Sign language and X-ray? Wow, talk about random diversity. XD Are you doing those so you have a backup if you're not taking the music route when you graduate?

It's wonderful you have so many opportunities with the bands now. As a classical pianist, I didn't have many chances to play in large ensembles, but I really enjoyed it whenever I did get to play with one. Jazz and such obviously gets to do these type of work more...I really envy you for that. So are you playing in the bands already? Or about to?

Yea the guild kinda fell apart, but things like that happens often online. Real life always takes precedence, and I'm glad you're doing well right now. ^_^

Indeed, I'm teaching private lessons now. It's an interesting learning experience for me with all the different kinds of kids I encounter. I think I'm spreading a reputation right now as being the patient, gentle type...when in fact, I don't oppose to being mean to students, but I just can't bring myself to be angry with them like some teachers I know. XD

But yea, talking about that recording, I'm in fact doing a recital with the same singer in October. We're about to start rehearsals soon and I'm really excited to get to perform again.

Modes aren't just found in chants, you see them used throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and also in folk music. Later on there's the whole Neoclassical movement that brought some of it back, and not to mention jazz, which I'm sure you know uses modes quite extensively.

How's school going for you? Graduating any time soon? 3nodding

Hey Camry, couldn't access your Agent-Camry profile so I'm leaving the response here.
Anyway, yea that scale you mentioned is a mode. F# Phrygian to be exact....and actually, modes are used quite a lot, even in classical music.

Most of the time I spent in the hospital was spent getting the various tests done on me, and having to sleep since I came in late. My surgery only lasted ~2 hours. I went under the knife around 8:30, woke up at noon, and sat around/ate voraciously until like 4. Wasn't too bad; they ordered out for desert, so I ended up having like three pieces of pumpkin pie.

The big ideals i've been toying with are Conservationist (basically just working to preserve habitats and species), Wildlife Biologist, and Zookeeper. Whatever I do, I know I want to work with/for animals, but i'm not 100% on HOW I want to. It's quite the quandry, since I was dead-set on being a writer until 10th grade, but found out I can't finish stories longer than ten pages. Then I was going to say "Screw school" and start a band that would pay bills. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience to learn how to play guitar, and don't have the voice to do lead vocals. So animals is it.

I understand how you wouldn't want to be well known like that. I suppose I wouldn't want all that stress either, seeing as how I can barely talk in front of more than ten people, and then only if it's some way to derail a class or a witty remark.

Yep. Appendicitis. I had a sharp pain in my lower-right gut area that I ignored for like...three-ish days before going to the hospital because it hurt so damn bad. Two needles and one CT Scan of my intestine later, it turns out I have Acute Necrosis or something that sounds equally awesome/terrifying. I spent about 30 hours in the hospital, surgery included, and was walking less than an hour after getting out of surgery. My incisions are just now healing up, and the surgery was like...September 25th? Something like that.

Congratz to your sister! I'm going to be an uncle soon, too. My brother knocked up his girlfriend/fiance, so the baby should be born somtime late Spring/early Summer.

I hear ya about the whole "What should I do for a living?" question. I'm indecisive about my course of study as well. If you love playing music, and can live decently off of playing it, then go for it. It doesn't matter how much a job pays if you're miserable doing it. Especially since you don't plan on having kids. If you save a little cash every time you get some, you should have a bit of money to fall back on in case something goes bad, or if you meet someone and want to start a family.

Really, just do what you love to do. If that's make music, then make music. If it's something else, go for it.

Who know? You might end up a famous musician, and then I could see you in concert! =D

That'd be weird if they did it early. Did you find it on that site? Or you could look up Zombie Walk 2009 + your city and state, that's how I find things. Zombie Walk 2009 Boise Idaho in Google.

It is fun. I got to go to my Psych class as a zombie in my dad's green polyester leisure suit! @_@

Eh...it seems like UPS involves a lot of driving. Did I mention i'm terrified of driving? Because I am. I'll just have to apply to Meijers or Krogers or something.

And how the ever lovin' hell does someone forget about you?! You were a huge presence in SD, and then in TGE.

Anywho, what's new with you? What kept ya? I had appendicitis!

Thats a good question man.
I have been almost like a ghost when it comes to being online these days.
Money is tight and I moved to a new city so I don't exactly have my own internet acess.
Drop me a line I should get back with in a week.

You two should do the Zombie Walk. If you don't know what that is, here's a site that has all of the locations and times. There's a Zombie Walk here in Idaho so my friends and I are doing that.
http://www.zombiewalk.com/forum/

I work at this local place called The Costume Shop, so yeah ^w^ I work with costumes on a daily basis, it's awesome. And it's a local business that's been up and going for 25 years, so we get plenty of business too.

But if she still has her heart set on being a Zombie, you two should do the Walk. My friends and I are learning the Thriller dance for it and I'm seeking a Michael Jackson jacket! @w@
