Part 3, lord have mercy lmao

I thought we would have an accord with him like we did with Melina and maybe even an alternate roundtable hold type hub, I was ready to be on the journey with Miquella and get to see his 'ugly emotions' about all the bullshit when we visit his crosses. I wanted to see his fears, I wanted to see him to confide his anger in us like Ranni does in her doll conversations. I wanted to be able to show my support for breaking the cycle of the Elden Ring entirely. Which like, every ending including Ranni's still has the Elden Ring as the basis of reality, but her and the tarnished just go really far away with it. Miquella's age would be based upon a whole new thing- that circlet of light. Which, similar to the Elden Ring, yet it is not the same thing. It would be an altogether new era for the land.

Also though, I like to think that Miquella (once we fix him) could also be convinced to hand power to the people and depart eventually, but he would first make sure the world is happy, flourishing, and ready for him to step away. In Ranni's ending it's kinda wild because you stop reality from unraveling by fixing the elden ring, take a look at the smoldering ******** ruin that is the world and go 'my work here is done' and then just ******** right off into the sky. Like s**t can we at least idk, clean up the capitol? Get the roads serviceable and safe for people to travel? Fix some aqueducts? Clean up Caelid a bit? Like idk man I feel like cleaning up the the mess the demigods made is the least we can do before departing. Yes it's the age of humanity fending for itself and all that, but I'm really feeling like the deadbeat dad who went out for cigarettes and milk and never came back. lol

Part 2 because there is a text limit and I have found it lol

Not to mention the fact that Miquella/Trina were super closely tied to and worshipped by the Albinauric archers in Ordinia who guard the way to the Haligtree.(and Albinaurics themselves seem to be the imperfect carian attempts to replicate the silver tears). Miquella's whole theme was ultimate compassion, wishing to embrace the whole of the world, in all it's good and bad. No matter how wretched or sinful a creature, it was not beyond his compassion. He of anyone would take on an Asimi willingly. I think Marika would have taken one on as a surprise tactic to be stronger and made a deal with it (probably what her grave ' original sin' was supposed to be. Imagine finding out that the real Elden Lord from the start was Radagon and he was a ******** Asimi silver tear that Marika made a pact with to escape her situation, meanwhile Godrey was the PR branch of the polycule until s**t hit the fan and they needed him to lead operation Tarnished Invasion so they made a show of 'banishing' him so he could be a surprise that would help them later).

Like I have so many thoughts on the lore, I could make a dissertation because pre-dlc, Miquella, Trina, and the underground cities were my lore deep dive. I was such a huge fan of the idea that Miquella was intentionally guiding the Tarnished on their journey for whatever reason, and that's why we get torrent the ghost yak. It seems like his mark is left in so many important places, and it's even his needle that we need to use to remove the frenzied flame if you pick it up but don't want that ending. Going into the dlc I was so excited because to me he seemed the most formidable not because he was physically strong but because he was smart, he was calculating, he was willing to negotiate. The fact that they never even let us talk to him was a ******** criminal offence. I was hoping that Leda was going to turn out to be Miquella in disguise or something, wanting to observe us as an equal before revealing his true identity or something. but nope, we never even get to speak to him before we have to kill him. To say I was screaming like jar of shaken hornets when I realized this would be an understatement lol. They made my boy look like a fool, and for what? T_T At the very least, I think we should have had the option for Tarnished to do the Asimi thing with Trina. I think she was turning into a flower because she was physically mutilated and possibly half dead. Like she has no lower half of her body, and the flowers grow where her blood spills so then the giant flower for the lower half....yeaaah. But instead of her just being like 'yeah you gotta kill him, no other way' we should have been able to say 'hey I got a better idea, we can fix him. Trust me babygirl we can totally fix him just you watch' and then when we get through the final fight we get a choice to spare/fix Miquella or kill him and there's an age of compassion ending if you go for the spare.

I love my blue wife and I was so excited for Miquella to get that level of focus and writing for his quest but then I was like 'hey what the ******** guys. I was promised Miquella content and he is only present aT THE ******** END!?' But also I think it's wild how Ranni and Miquella are seen so differently by the fandom when I saw soooo many parallels between the two (i.e. the knowing that something is off/wrong about the golden order, the clever scheming from behind the scenes, the deep resentment for their empyrean bodies, their discarding of their flesh on the path to godhood, etc). I legitimately expected the reveal to be that Miquella had done what Ranni did via the cocoon and shed his golden order empyrean flesh to move around in spirit form as Trina the way Melina does. I thought we would have an accord with him like we did with Melina and maybe even an alternate roundtable hold type hub, I was ready to be on the journey with Miquella and get to see his 'ugly emotions'

Oh my gosh do I have THOUGHTS on the Miquella lore and how it ties to the underground city lore holy s**t. In fact, let me spoiler tag because this is about to be a wall of text of embarrassingly colossal proportions since I cannot contain myself good lord.

[spoiler]Okay so like, here's the thing- there were datamined scrapped content quests for base game Elden Ring that tied Miquella and Trina to the underground cities via mechanics they ended up not finishing. Hell it even tied into the another scrapped concept which was the Asimi questline. Asimi is a rare, advanced type of mimic tear player Tarnished can take into their body, and once infected by them you are granted 'great power'. Then you have to seek out 'tear chalices' to drink from, one in each of the two main underground cities in chests at the feet of those giant robed skeletons on thrones (which makes me think of the dew of the Albinaurics, but also the cut content of Trina's crystal ball that harvests dream fog to make dream brew comes to mind. One brew is pale purple, the other is gold idk if we have an art icon for the tear chalices so I can't compare it). Once you drink those your Asimi becomes capable of being a fully physically independent person who is a carbon copy of you, but also still herself as she has been this whole time while speaking to you from inside of you. You were supposed to part ways with your Asimi and then encounter and defeat her later on when she challenges you, she wants to become the 'real' you instead of living in your shadow as a copy. After defeating her you get the mimic tear spirit ashes. This to me says we could have had something so cool that ties into Elden Ring's alchemical themes but also explains a whole lot about Marika and Miquella- Radagon and Trina were potentially some sort of advanced Asimis. Miquella's Asimi may have been even more powerful than Marika's considering Miquella and Trina seem to be tied in to the udnergroudn at various points (in fact, the only instance of charm magic that isn't overtly Miquella derived that we see is the ant riders in Nokstella. The ants are bewitched/charmed by the Nox riders as indicated by the pink glow coming off their eyes), but also... your Asimi wanted to kill you to become the real you. Trina, after being separated/discarded, wanted you to kill Miquella as well. For different reasons, but like... I see the outline of something going on here thematically that could have been very interesting. Especially since Miquella would've got his Asimi much younger than Marika, a fight and separation of the two could absolutely lead to a massive fracture of self and a major crisis/loss of identity. Hell even the Frankenstein thing Miquella did with Mohg and Radahn seems to echo the Asimi symbiosis. Maybe the Radahn process we see was the ancient, brutal tradition that was 'supposed to be done', and the Nox engineered the Asimis as a way to forego the brutal ritual (part of the great sin of the Nox was their attempt to engineer their very own 'Lord' after all. That's why the silver tears are reviled as 'unnatural'.)

Also the whole existence of the Nightfolk who are said to be few in number and ancient, and bled silver long ago. One of the things that maybe was just unfinished assets but idk... Asimi, despite being a silver tear, doesn't bleed silver in her fight. She bleeds red like the Tarnished does. This might imply that 'Nightfolk' are made when an Asimi becomes fully self realized, which is rare because they seemingly require a host to take them to the dew chalices and that would be a big nope for most people, even with the offer of great power, since silver tears are seen as a sinful thing. But the context in which you find Trina in the dlc even seems like a cheeky nod to this idea. She's down there in the deepest underground point of the dlc with ruins around her surrounded by a bunch of grey goop creatures! I mean come the ******** on Fromsoft I see what you are doing. Not to men

YOOOO KINDA SAME

Like I loved some parts (i.e. we finally got a Miquella/Trina focused thing!!! Also liked that the dlc was more narrative driven and it felt like I was engaging with the world in ways other than murder even if it did often end in murder eventually lol) but others I was like 'ey, yo, Fromsoft, what the ******** are you doing???' (i.e. why the ******** did they drop in the as yet unseen Hornsent culture instead of developing what they had going thematically with the underground cities? I wanted that lore! Like the ritual being how Marika ascended makes no sense, we hear of no lord consort creation process like we do for Miquella so why does he have to play Frankenstein with his brothers lol. Also wHY IS THERE NO OPTION FOR US TO SIDE WITH HIM AT THE END??? Some people whine and piss about how 'oooo he's evil and manipulative waaah' ******** the same could be said about our blue wife. Also we can side with the dung eater and the fRENZIED FLAME! But nah god forbid I get myself a devious, caked up femboy who is 3 times my size. As if it wasn't bad enough they didn't let me keep the clinically depressed snake man. I ******** hate it here, can't have s**t in Elden Ring Detroit lmao)

Oh yes, I'm positively invested in Elden Ring lore but I'm also decently well versed in Bloodborne lore. I have yet to properly have a go at the mainline Souls games, but Dark Sun Gwyndolin owns my heart and I'm still wailing like a wretch over his fate in Dark Souls 3 lol.
