Well I like your avatar. It's really original, but island boys don't wear flowers in their hair. Usually the girls wear the flowers. The pineapple hat, flower lei, and the grass skirt is good. We don't drink out of watermelons though. =P But it does look islander. It is kinda hard to make an avatar islander when gaia doesn't have much items to choose from. I think the tattoos are a little too much, but maybe if it was black it'll look nicer because islanders have polynesian tattoos. =) Usually guys that wear grass skirts are hula or polynesian dancers and they usually don't wear shorts under the grass skirt. It's a nice try though! I do give you props. I still voted you a 8/10. Idk what else more to change if gaia doesn't have the items to really make it islander looking. =/ I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by saying I don't like it. =( I still like it, it just doesn't portray an islander the way it should.
