Some kitties are great at being the one and only. I hear a lot of shelters try to stay away from single adoptions, but I don't always see the problem with it. My oldest cat Waldo was always the type to prefer just being the only cat (and was for a big chunk of his life). The relationship between him and I has just been closer because he was my only one for so long. I also think he doesn't see himself as a cat so much as he does a person. He always lights up and is ready to greet strangers/repeat visitors as if he's one of us. He also looks to the other cats as alien too him, but I am proud to say that he has been able to tolerate them. Luckily, they leave him alone for the most part!
So, for my cat names, I actually came up with Waldo just out of the blue. I thought he looked like a Waldo, like a gentleman with a fancy haircut. Turns out that WALDO lived up to his name a few times.
Nimbus was originally named Rikki when I met him in the shelter. I didn't want him to have any connection to his shelter life, and I wanted him to have a new name. It was my roommate who helped me with his name. I loved how it suited him (he's just a big white boy, a cloud).
Lucifer got his name from the show I was watching. I would occasionally see a black kitty cat in my neighborhood, and would call that kitty Lucifer. Little did I know or expect that I'd get to MEET him and have him for my own!
And then Tomothy/Tomathy. He was also an outside cat, but he's much older and looks like he's been around the neighborhood and has charmed his way into many people's lives. For awhile, he was seen wearing a collar with info about him, saying that his name was Tom and if he were ever lost, to contact said number to let the people know where he was. When Amber (roommate) and I tried to do that, we would get no response. We would see him come and go, and eventually without a collar. He spent so much time hanging out at our home and at our porch (ALL. DAY.) that we caved in. Both of us knew he had gone by Tom, but didn't want to call him just that, so I came up with Tomothy! smile
Anyways, I typed a lot. Give Knucks some love for me! Happy August! This year is almost over and we can have a new fresh one soon!
That's so wonderful that you were able to rescue your best friend. As much as shelters can break my heart and take their toll, they too have changed my life! Knowing animals CAN have a re-do and start their life again just gets at my heart. If animal shelters didn't have such a high emotional toll, I'd still be working at one.
As for when I got all m cats... surprised
The only cat I got as a kitten was Waldo. I wasn't supposed to get a pet, but I felt so lonely and isolated in the small town I was living in, so I followed my heart and now he'll be turning 14 this year!
Nimbus was adopted at that shelter I worked at. He had been there since he was a kitten, and was the last of his litter still there after almost 2 years. Co-workers kept warning me to keep my distance with him, since he was known to bite people and bite really hard. I just kept thinking how ******** up it was that he was being treated like he had a behavioral problem and in no way was it worth trying to look into and fix. Nimbus and I proved everyone that they were wrong about him after months of coming in and being with him. I knew I just couldn't let anyone else have him after all that. sweatdrop
Lucifer was just a rando black kitty that I'd see from time to time while I was deep into watching Lucifer lmao. I had to feed him for awhile and gain his trust, but once I did, I learned that he was such an affectionate cat! So much so I questioned if he was a female cat in heat!!!! But no, he was fixed and a secret love slut. He hated being inside at first, but now thrives with his cat family (aside from Tom. Lucifer HATES Tomathy.)
Tomathy was a chonky white looking cat that just seemed so pathetic. At this time, I already had the 3 cats and my roommate and I knew we shouldn't bring in a 4th, but Tom was just... everywhere all the time. He would be super sweet and friendly and he'd just hang out in the yard/back porch for an entire day. It was like he knew he could wear us down. So eventually we just let him come in too lmao. I can only imagine the life he lived before this. He gives off this impression of being a super stud with other humans. He even insists on drinking out of the faucet in the bathroom.

Now I need to send a picture of my old man Waldo! Sometimes I can't believe I've had this sweet baby boy for so long. It's so friggin' awesome to have pets. My life feels so much better with them!
Nimbus and Waldo. Nimbus is the white little guy, and Waldo is the hamsum tabby! Unfortunately, cats are not as selfie friendly hahah! All mine look like you can tell my cats did not sign up for selfie time rofl
Omg, imagine how less cranky people would be. We'd think better after a nap too. Designated nap time for all.
Bonus is that we earn income during our nap time too. This is the future we deserve. s
I love the name Knuckles as a dog! So cute! Pets make a rocky living much more tolerable tbh. My main cat Waldo has been my rock for so long!

I really thought at this age, life would be 10x better and there'd be flying cars and s**t but that is not at all the reality lmao.
Sometimes I'm just so sleepy that I want to nap, but then I remember I'm an adult and there's adulting to do. stressed
But aside that...I do have 4 lovely cats (all boys)!
