About

Belial (also Belhor, Baalial, Beliar, Beliall, Beliel; from Hebrew Bliyaal בליעל meaning "without worth" wink is the name for a demon in the Old Testament. He has been identified with Satan, both as a minion of Satan and sometimes as another name for Satan himself. Among certain Jewish sects, this demon was considered the chief of all the devils. He is also called "the angel of lawlessness" and "the king of this world", and is sometimes considered the father of idolatrous nations and the source of the seven spirits of seduction that enter men at birth, the source of impurity and lying, and the spirit of darkness. In the Book of Jubilees, uncircumcised heathens are called "sons of Belial".
In the Old Testament, Belial is mentioned several times, referring to him as father of pagan nations, rivers of destruction, rivers of death, and impious men are considered the sons of Belial.
In The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness(1QM), one of the Dead Sea scrolls, Belial is the leader of the Sons of Darkness:
'But for corruption thou hast made Belial, an angel of hostility. All his dominions are in darkness, and his purpose is to bring about wickedness and guilt. All the spirits that are associated with him are but angels of destruction.'
The fact that in Judaism Belial claimed to be the Messiah led some 1st century Christians to consider him the Antichrist.
When Belial arrived in Gaia he chose to change his name, adding a "-" in the middle. There is no known reason as to why he did this, but some say that dividing his name meant that his soul had been divided between heaven and hell.

-Belial rose from his long slumber, as if rising from the dead. He looked around, left to right, right to left. He couldn't remember anything that had happened in the past few days, but felt dark energy surging through his vains. Energy he had not felt since the Christian God had split his soul into two, casting half into hell, and half into heaven. He could not figure out why, but his soul was now whole once again. He thought about all of the possibilities, and only one seemed to make sense. He had re-discovered his love, and hate, for the human race. It was now clear what the lord Lucifer, and the lord God wanted him to do. He was to become the angel of death, reigning over all of hell, and the protector of mankind in heaven, second only to God. However strange this sounded, it all made sense to him. To protect the human race, the ones he loved, he had to kill the ones he hated. Those who would seek to be more foul than him. He also knew that this was another trial that both Lucifer and God wanted him to go through, and depending on what he did, he might finally have absolute power over both Heaven and Hell. With his newly restored and increased power, Belial set off to find his own destiny. He was no longer a puppet, this was the real thing, and he only had one chance to prove that he was worthy of inheriting the greatest prize of all; the Earth. And thus began the Trials of Destiny.-
