Stuff about me

I had this account since 3 years ago, but I wasn't active until now, when my sister made me ressurect it. So that would make me... an oldbie? Anyway, I love music, ancient cultures (esp. Greece, Egypt, and the Maya), and the German Language. I am also a self-professed bibliophile, having once read 75 100 page books in 3 months.

And now for some random stuff about me!

Favorite color: red or purple or dark green, depends on how I feel

Favorite T-shirt: either my 2006 Germany World Cup jersey (which cost me 50 Euro and was my most expensive souveneir from my trip to Europe), my Zingerman's Gelato shirt, or my black shirt that has Schroder from 'Peanuts' on it and says "Play that funky music"

Obsessions: Reading, knitting (I proudly claim the title of 'knerd'), band (I'm first chair! band geeks unite!), German (pm me auf Deutsch and I'll friend you!)

Favorite Foods: risotto (which is what the Italians have for comfort food instead of mashed potatoes), homemade macaroni & cheese

Favorite drink: Orange pinapple juice, hot chocolate, or this really awsome shake w/vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, and cinnamon

Favorite foreign country: Germany, The Netherlands, or Denmark. Germany is flippin' sweet, the Dutch are really awsome (and they have peanut butter and really good sprinkles called Hageslag they put on bread. Which sounds weird, but is really good), and the Danes have pretty awsome beaches on the North Sea, plus it stays light to about 11:00 at night in the summer there.

Favorite movie: 4-way tie between Pirates of the Carribean (which is totally amazing), The Princess Bride (which you must love or DIE A MOST PAINFUL DEATH), West Side Story (based on classic Shakespeare and has the most awsome music), and Corpse Bride (a little random, I know, but it is amazing and a showcase of a dying art)

Favorite instrument: Flute! We rock amazingly, and are the perfect instrument to play a lullaby on. Piano comes second, due to the wide variety of songs you can play on it & the feeling you can put in.

Favorite song(s) to play:
Flute: "Danny Boy", sweet and low.
Piano: "Victor's Piano Solo", "Linus & Lucy" or "Moonlight Sonata".
Bamboo flute: "Danny Boy", "Once upon a December", or "Greensleeves"
Any: "Somewhere" from West Side Story (this song makes me cry!)

Favorite songs to listen to: Virtually anything by The Beatles,
Soundtracks: Les Miserables, West Side Story, Wicked, Pirates of the Carribean,
Mugglecast! Well, that's not really a song, but it is a truly awsome podcast!

Favorite church songs: "What Wondrous Love is This?", "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say", "My Lord Will Come Again"

Favorite Songs to sing: "Stars" (Les Mis), "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" (ditto), "Red & Black" (double ditto), "Defying Gravity" (Wicked), "For Good" (also Wicked), "Seasons of Love" (Rent), "The Long and Winding Road" (The Beatles), "Golden Slumbers" (also Beatles), and "Yesterday"(more Beatles)

Favorite ice cream flavor: moose tracks, or the Chocolate Fudge Brownie from Kilwin's.

Favorite pet: Cats, duh! Anyone who says that they're not a cat person just hasn't found the right cat! Mine is a fuzzy 3-year-old muted calico who enjoys naps, sitting on my keyboard tray, and racing around the house like a mad thing.

Pet peeves: People using apostrophes for plurals (eg plural's), people who type "you're" when they mean "your", people who chew gum while they talk, and people who walk slowly in crowded hallways.

Fears: wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, etc. (bees are all right, but if a flying, stinging, insect doesn't have fur, it scares the bejeezus out of me!)

Some of my favorite people in the entire world: meine leibe irl schwester Shadowkat64, and my pet freshman and poppet Hope Wilson (who is 13, has a six-pack, plays a mean trombone, and whom I stalk and whose hair I fiddle with)
