About
. . . . .I'm new to Gaia, and trying to figure everything out. I've discovered the Achievement section, so that pretty much points in the direction of learning everything. I've learned enough BBCode to make my posts unique, but I'll eventually figure it out so I can have pretty posts.
While I was looking around the Forums, I found a few neat Threads. There's a Transgender thread that I subscribed to, and I found some role play threads, but have removed my subscription because I don't think I'll have the time to keep up with an online commitment. I hope to find something to entertain me on the forums, so for the moment, I check into Gaia once or twice a day for about 30 minutes.
I've finally learned how to stop Gaia from texting me every time someone posts in a subscribed thread. -.- It was so annoying, and now it's all better. I'm thrilled to be here, but I don't want to feel like I'm restrained by an internet presence.
To describe myself a little, I'm now a resident of the United States in the state of Texas. My family is from Vlissingen in the Netherlands, but have been traveling to and from America for a very long time. I go by my first name or my initials [ALL'E --pronounced "alley"] derived from my birth name, my chosen name, and my family name [a French, matriarchal name dating back several centuries].
In Texas, my family owns a restaurant where everyone has some input, whether serving, cooking, or managing. We're very happy to be close together, and even through our trials, we find we can always come together quickly to ensure we are all overcoming our obstacles. I have three sisters and a brother. I'm the oldest, my brother is second [at 27], then my sisters follow [25, 24, and 15]. I'm nothing like my family, and am considered the "white sheep", but I love them dearly. ^.^
In the grand scheme of things, I am a Library Science student pursuing a Doctorate at the University of Texas. In the interim of reaching my goal to become an archivist for an American library, I am a hairstylist, practicing since 2007. My favourite pass times are reading, role playing with friends, and just hanging out at the café. While my friends are busy, I spend a lot of time on the computer, and even find myself visiting GaiaOnline a lot more. x_x I'm slowly becoming a regular.
My common standing ground online is still FaceBook. I've been a member since it required a .edu email address to obtain. Since then, I've had two other accounts: one for fun and games, and the other because I wanted to separate my now life from my then life. I'm still only friends with people I physically know. The only person on my FaceBook friend list now who I have not met in person is my favourite artist, Sergio Lopez.
I colour with crayons in books with pre-printed pictures. I read obnoxious amounts of written work. I play music almost religiously because I have the ability to identify a lot of the sounds in it. I chat continuously. I drink coffee like an addict to help my chronic migraines. I like lists and organising, and finally, I love my fantasies, but never want them to become reality.
