Nobody I knew died.

My relatives live in the middle of the city, not near the beach

but an uncle's beachhouse got washed away.

I'm doing an Arts/Education double degree.

No, the tsunami was in 2006.

I was already a citizen here then.

I came here to go to university.

In Sri Lanka, there is no room in the universities for everyone even if you get good results.
