About
I am the Keeper of the Varse.
Here is the basic Paradion religion untainted by the modern Shelsian society.
The Village of Parados
Parados (Supreme Diety)
The mightiest of Gods, however she is a Goddess. She is the mother of everything, she is the Earth. She remains mysterious, even to her own children and followers.
Note: The Earth and all plantlife are worshipped as greatly as Parados. This includes plants, animals, insects, etc. However, animals are mainly used as sources of food and clothing. It is disrespectful however to kill an animal that is youthful or in its prime. It is best to hunt an elderly animal and thank it for its sacrifice. It is also customary to thank any trees, plants, rocks, etc. used in anything.
Seasonal Gods (2nd Dieties)
The first children of Parados
Winter God
Par
Par is self-indulgent and full of bitter fury and wrath. He destroys anything and everything in his way without regret or mercy. Though he is thought to be cruel and is often resented by the youth of the village who do not yet understand his importance, he is essential to the Earth's existence. From the ashes of that which he destroys rises newer and better versions of life. He is terribly strong and seems to be invincible but is no match for the twins Felas and Feros.
Spring Goddess
Felas
Felas is thought of as Par's housekeeper. She is the healer and aids all that were harmed by Par. She choses to stay out of his affairs though it pains her to witness such destruction, but makes up for it by bringing forth even more prosperity than there was before Par hit. Felas can weaken Par and strengthen Feros with her love. Though she is rather submissive, if Par were to ever overstep his boundaries she would act immediately.
Summer God
Feros
Feros is the twin brother of Felas. He takes Felas' creations and educates about the hardships of the world. His teachings are intense and those that cannot handle them wither away. He commemorates them in the stars that can only be seen during his time of year. Feros and Par are great rivals and enemies. They constantly bicker, but rarely get into anything serious; Feros doesn't because he knows Felas is fond of Par and Par doesn't because he is aware that Feros is stronger and with Felas' healing powers cannot be harmed.
Autumn Goddess
Leve
Leve takes the survivors of Feros' crash course in life and celebrates their victory with beautiful gifts of bronze and gold. Leve is the most laid back of all the Gods and enjoys life and the beauty of the Earth. She tends to stay out of the way of the other bickering Seasonal Gods and tries to impress and please them all. She is somewhat of a mediator.
Prophets (3rd)
Through prophets Parados is able to voice her warnings, concerns, advice, and is able to name human incarnates.
Human Incarnates (4th)
Though human incarnates are the incarnates of gods they come second to Prophets--mainly because Prophets are essentially incarnates of Parados herself. They are used by the Gods to change things on the Earth more directly.
Demons and Miracles (5th)
Known as the "b*****d children" of Parados. Their existence is as much a mystery as Parados'. They can either bring great fortune to the village or great misery. They are undeniably powerful but no where near as important/revered as Prophets or as strong as Human incarnates (depending on the incarnates age and experience).
Houses (6th)
The families in which prophets or human incarnates are born into are revered by the village and all its inhabitants. In the event that neither the Prophet or Human incarnate are present in a time of crisis the family will be consulted.
The people (7th)
Aside from those that fit into the above 4 categories all other members of the village are treated equally no matter what their job, appearance, age, or anything else that may set them apart from others. Because Parados is not a particularly strict or oppressive village all its inhabitants are allowed to strengthen and grow which is why just about everyone living there is uncommonly strong and powerful. If one choses not to believe the Paradion faith they are not ridiculed unless they press their individual beliefs on the rest of the community. However it is very uncommon for this to occur. Since the village is so isolated from the rest of the world, it is very difficult for different perspectatives of the world to make their way into the community.
Superstitions/Beliefs/Rituals/etc.
Names
Upon birth every Paradion is given two names; one that is used by all and one that is never used and known only by loved ones. It is believed that as long as your "true name" is kept a secret from your enemies they cannot harm you. Instead of exchanging rings when Paradions marry they tell each other their true name, this bonds them for life.
Exchanging Energy
Usually this deals with a child and their parent, or two dear loved ones who are very comfortable with each other. When a child is sick and lacks sufficient life energy to survive the parent will take the child to the nearest flowing body of water. The child will stand against the flow, the parent with it, both naked so that the energy has nothing to cling to. The parent will relax their bodies entirely and allow energy to flow from them to the child.
Coming of Age Journey
Between the ages of 15 - 21 Paradions are encouraged to leave the village and travel the world then come home and teach the rest of the village of what they have learned. They then can decide whether they will stay in the village or leave. The purpose of this journey is self discovery.
