The woods were thick and hard to move in, but if one reached for enough into them, the reward was great. A huge beautiful clearing sat lost in the forest, a mythical place for people to stumble upon by accident. It was one of those places where one can only find it when one was lost, not when one was looking for it.
The birds were chirping happily, settling into their nests for the night and the forest creatures pranced off to their homes. It had the aura to calm people down and make them happy, the kind of power to sometimes make even the coldest person awe in its beauty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Small muffled sounds of someone crying echoed in the silent area, causing a few forest animals to glance up in interest. The sun was setting in the distance, casting a luminous orange glow that fluttered against the clearing.
A hand angrily hit the ground, fingers curling against the dirt.
"Damn you, Aero," Ember whispered in a broken voice. "You left me. You promised you wouldn't."
She bit her forefinger, drawing a seal on the back of her hand. She was blind with desperation.
"Please... please let Aero come..." she whispered, pressing her hand against the ground.

A ray of light erupted from the sky and hit the seal on her hand that she had drew. Mist started filling the clearing, it was a real thick one to...could probably cut through it like butter. Then noises started to happen...well actually just one, real big to..like the sound of a meteor colliding into the earth. A tall figure who's body and face was covered by the mist. The hairstyle though...you could always recognize the hairstyle. It had to be...

Ember looked up from her slightly singed hand to the figure in the smoke. Hope she didn't even realize she was forming began to rise within her as she stared at the figure in suspense. Her heart stopped beating as she started to breathe quicker, like she was hyperventilating.

The figure came closer and stood to a point of almost within her reach. The haze of smoke was starting lift, and instead of seeing her beautiful red-headed bad boy, she saw her green-haired most unwanted archenemy. Cross smiled at the feeling of torture he must have given her. To get her hopes up and then shoot them down with the disappointment he brought.
"So tell me...How much pain did I bring you?" The dark god asked her with so much happiness inside him.

Shock was the only thing she could feel at the moment.
"Cross?" her surprised voice whispered. She threw herself backward against the tree behind her, a finger pointing at his proximate form. "Wha-what're you doin' here?! We killed you! We killed you dead!"

."Cross started a pace as he began to talk.."It would seem as though you would have, but then as i was in the underworld serving as a mortal spirit something grabbed me and brought me here. Now if i understand that this darkness forming around me is my powers, I woud say i'm back in business."
Although that wasn't exactly the truth, who was he to care that she didn't know that gods couldn't really die. Cross waited for a response from her face that he enjoyed was in such great awe. Thinking he could make the Goddess of Love feel even worse, he started thinking of more lies to give her.

Ember stared at him like his hair had erupted into flames. It seemed the things he was saying was flying right over her head.
"Uh, what?" Ember managed to say, staring at him. "What now?"

He sighed with grief on how her oblivious mind could no stay focused on what he was saying.
"In other words your the one who brought me back to the mortal world and gave me my body back...along with my powers."

Ember seemed to hear him this time. It didn't seem possible that she could have done something like that, but with her powers, anything was possible.
"Dude," she said, relieving some tension. She could feel something wasn't right, something that Aero had told her before. But it was only a faint warning in the back of her mind. "You're not lying, are you?"

"Me? Lie? It's like you don't know me at all." He chuckled as he used his dark arts to change into a more "fitting" attire for a God of his stature.

"That's just it," she said, squinting at him as he transformed. She slowly stood up, using the tree behind her as support. "I don't know you. You're simply the half-brother of Aero who'd caused us problems in the past."

"Of course i ruined everything. And do you know why. Cause that mutt faced orphan ruined MY life! MY chance with MY parents." Cross yelled gradually taking a few steps closer each time and shaking his fist at her.

"Aero didn't ruin anything!" Ember defended, pressing herself against the bark behind her, eying him closely as he moved closer. The promixity of his form was suffocating, like it evoked stuff she didn't want to say. But she wasn't even the slightest bit concerned he could probably strike her down at any given second. It was... awkward. "You're the one who murdered those same parents!"

"Yeah sure. Of course i killed those horrible excuses for flesh and blood. They treated me like dirt and when they separated and found others Aero was born and he was granted all the glory..." He paused for a moment. With a fiery gleam of anger striking through his eyes. Cross ran up towards Ember and pinned her more to the tree.
"They got...what they deserved!" His face must've have been just a centimeter away from touching her nose. His anger froze suddenly, and his eyes gazed upon hers. And for a brief second there was a short gasp in his eyes, like a six year old does when something amazing happens. Then quickly Cross turned away to stop her from seeing him. He ran under some tree branches. The last of the sun disappeared and the clearing was shrouded in darkness, the moonlight above illuminating the spots it could. Some of it hitting his face projecting through the leaves of a tree.

Ember slid slowly down the tree, eyes slightly wide, staring unseeingly in front of her. Words couldn't describe the shock that had lanced through her body when he'd pinned her against the tree. Her head fell forward, bangs covering her face as she stared at the ground, replaying the whole thing in her mind over and over again.
'What was that?' her mind weakly asked. The question echoed in her mind, barreling against the walls of her head, but no answer came. She finally blinked, the memory freezing on that one split second where Cross had shown something other than despite toward her, but she couldn't figure it out what it was. It was so short, so sudden, it was like her mind was too slow to catch it.
The more she thought about it, the more she tried to remember it, the more she felt like she'd imagined the whole thing.
Lifting her head up, her hair falling back, Ember peered into the woods, looking for him. "Cross?" her uneasy voice called.
