[Orb Entry]
The sky was dark with the stormy clouds, so dark, it was impossible to tell day from night anymore. Three days had passed since the storm had decide to settled there. Raindrops pounded on the ground and house without mercy. Thunder rumble the air and lighting illuminating the dark shapes in the clouds, but dare not come down to the ground. A figure sat on the rail of the large balcony, watching the koi pool that settle in the middle of the roof, the large color fish hide from the rumbling thunder, their pool being protected by a tent and sandbag barrier their owner had set up to stop the pool from being over flown or destroy. A red and black koi swam to the surface, poking his head out for a moment before swimming insecurely near the surface, he knew their master was standing nearby, but the place wasn't safe at the moment. It concern him. Another thunder and the koi disappeared to hide with his brethren.
The figure finally rose to bare feet and walked to the unlocked window door that lead inside the house. Entering, the large mansion, the water dripping from his body and clothes. A gentle smile on his face as he close the door and locked it. He reached about and pulled a towel close to his body as he started to dry off the water, changing his clothes into warm and dry ones, letting the wet ones and the towels lay on the floor without a care, he will get them later, much later. His eyes picked up a bottle of brandy, his hands following as they picked up a glass and pour him a drink. Taking the quick shot, he felt his cold body warm up as his vision looked around the dark house. They had already run out of candles and electricity had been long gone. The horses wouldn't be able to get thought the dirt road, let alone any other vehicle. He sighed and shrugged as he walked to the master bedroom and sat down before his desk, looking at his typing machine. Lighting illuminated the whole room as it lit the clouds and he read the last word in the paragraph. His memory refresh, he position his hands carefully and started to type, closing his eyes, for there was no reason of keeping them open, and just listen to the storm and tip-tap of the keys, unaware of a small box resting on his bed.
Another thunder struck, he breath out a white cloud, the room seem colder now as he open his eyes and looked down to a trembling figure resting on his lap. He chuckled and pulled his hands over the two cats, one a teen and the other just a kitten. He had almost forgotten he had them here with him, his mind was strange that way. He pulled them off his lap and onto the chair, walking to the fire place. Striking a match, he lit a piece of paper and put it in there, the fire slowly starting on a large log, warming up the room. He had to be careful, who knew how long the storm would last, even thought in the back of his mind, it plead for it to stay an eternity. Both felines went up to him once again, standing near the fire place.
All of them, suddenly, realize there was movement elsewhere in the house, hearing some muffle sound.
The shapeshifter walked closer to the bed, lighting illuminating the rest of the room, the burning log doing little for the light. He tilted his head as he saw the box, trembling slightly for a moment then becoming immovable again. "Hmmm....." He sat down at the edge and picked it up. "What's this...." He raised an eyebrow, not recalling seeing it before. He saw a letter attach and opens it, reading it out loud to fill the silence of the room.
Dear Yami, upon hearing your troubles in the real world I have sent one of my own to watch over you, but you must take care of it in return. Enclosed in that box is a orb shaped crystal that will show you your dreams and solidify them into a guardian. I will be paying you a visit during the week.
The Goblin King
"An orb...." Yami tilted his head a bit more, opening the box, glowing orb rolling out into his hand. He put the box down and held it with both hands, staring at it with fascination. He walked to the fireplace and sat down. Both felines sniffed towards the orb, Duchess, the Egyptian Mau kitten, pawed at the top of it curiously. Yami chuckled softly as the glow die down, revealing a darkness between the orb, a white and cyan swirling smoke between it. His eyes squint, noticing a symbol. "...its a heart...?" He looked at it closer, Duchess letting out a meow of protest as the orb was taken out of her reach, she climbed onto his lap, the male cat following up to it as well, thought just for the warmth. "A heart and two wings...." He tilted the orb. "With a keyhole..." The man stared at it still with a soft smile. "A divine lock heart? What do you think, Sherkan?" The male cat looked up for a moment, with sleepy and uninterested eyes. He meowed and curled up tighter. "Yeah...you are right...." Yami picked both cats off his lap, once again, and walked back to the bed, he pulled a pillow and thick blanket towards him and went to the fireplace. Settling the blanket down and put pillow onto of that. He lay down on his side and put the orb down by him, the cats coming closer and curling up, thought Duchess watched orb, measuring its playability as Yami fell asleep. Feeling the orb being snuggled against his chest like the cats, but dismissing the movement as his cats pulling it closer.....

[Orb Entry II]
Yami woke up to frighten pawing of one of his cats. Sherkan kept pawing at his face, meowing desperately, the shapeshifter sighed as he pulled his head back and open his eyes. "What is it....." He notice the room was a lot better lit, thought the fire had die down sometimes ago. Sherkan took hold of his necklace and pulled on it, so the man follow on and sat up slowly, rubbing sandman's sand from his eyes as they slowly resguister the stripped feline going about the room, signaling the orb and Duchess. The orb rolling away from the chasing kitten, he figure the kitten had been pawing at it, the reason for it to be rolling, tho that little thought was soon banish as he saw the orb take a U-turn and start chasing the kitten in turn. The Egyptian Mau let out a yelping meow and ran off, leaping up onto the bed and out of the orb's reach.
The small orb tremble and started to look as it was pacing from side to side, waiting for the kitten to come back down. Yami just plainly stared at this. "Ok, that's a new one." He watched Sherkan move himself onto the bed as well. "Hey, you, the orb, come here." He got up walking up to it and picking it up. "No chasing my cats...." He chuckled at the mere thought that invade his mind. He sat down on his chair, watching the orb closely as it rolled off his hands and onto his lap, rolling here and there before settling on his lap. The shape shifter smile and looked for the source of light that illuminated his room. Soon finding that it was coming from outside. It seem the storm had calmed, and the now white-grey clouds were moving on. "Oh well." He picked the orb up, looking at his cats. "Come on you two, we better make a break for the town and get dry fire wood and candles." The felines let out a loud protesting meow to him. "And food...I know I know."
-------
After coming back from the town and putting every away. Yami walked around the grounds of his home, surveying the damage the storm might have done. The horses were alright, so were their stables, which were attach to the house. The ground was still muddy and the lake was slightly overflowed. The scenery seem clean and fresh thought and that made him smile as he walked up to the door, taking off the mud-cover boots and walking inside. He watched as Sherkan ran by, follow by the orb, which was being follow by Duchess. The shapeshifter blinked. "And that one is a new one too..." He close the door and walked after them. "What did I said about chasing each other, danm it?!" They didn't listen, of course.
He shrugged and moved on to his study, looking at the painting he was working on, his dark mismatched eyes watching the invisible strokes that made up the half finish painting. He started to work on it, listening to little as he worked. The orb rolled slowly inside the room, carefully moving before rolling up onto Yami's foot and staying there. The man looked down and smiled gently. "Hello there." The orb quivered and hummed happily, atleast that what the shape shifter figure it meant. "You know...I can't keep calling you 'orb'...you need a name." He picked the orb up and put it on the table. "But what to call you..." He looked at the canvas, as the orb rolled about the table, moving about drawings that were on the table. "you do seem to be very energetic....kind of remind me of Tristam...." The man rested back on his seat. "...." Tristam had been his younger cousin, born sickly but with unbroken spirit, unfortainly, the boy die when he was three, the only word it had ever learn had been the man's name. He smiled sorrowful as he remember the little voice going up and down the halls, calling his name. "Tristam...Yeah, I think that should be your name.....what do you think, Tristy?" The orb stop and hummed, quivering its form. "Good." He smile, gently stroking his fingertips on the smooth surface of the orb. "And Lockhart for your little symbol...."

[Orb Entry III]
Third day since the orb arrive.
He walked about the house, carrying a box here and there, most of the furniture in this part of the mansion was cover in blankets, to keep clean up to the minimum. The cats sitting on the hall or on the stairs, just watching him go from a room to another. The orb, on the other hand, following closely behind him, cheerfully going under the blankets to investigate. Thought once or twice chase out by an angry mouse, who in turn was hunt down by Sherkan, Duchess moving her head up, in a snotty way at the mere thought of hunting.
After all rooms had been checked for any damage, Yami walked to the balcony and lay down on his stomach by the koi pool. He rested his head on his folded arms, long locks of brown-copper hair flowing down from his head and down his arms, some of the tips touching the water gently, making ripples in the clear liquid. The koi fish swam about, much more calm now as they came up, swimming near the surface, exposing, for just seconds, their backs to the cold evening air, wanting to their master's fingers against them. The man smiled gently, reaching out and gently touching their backs as they pass underneath his finger tips. The orb's cold side touch his Adam's apple and he looked down, seeing Tristam snuggled underneath him, protected by his other arm. The man smiled and caress his lips gently against the orb. His head gently rest on his outstretched arm, his fingers growing limp as he watching the orb with mismatched eyes. He wondered if he could fall asleep out here, today had been tiresome...

[Orb Entry IV]
Nightmares marked the ground with their cruel hooves inside his mind, plaguing with memories of an old life that never seem to be his own. Rolling rolling, becoming smaller and smaller until they come just another path for others. Tears.
The orb tremble, feeling a tear finally rolling off the man's cheek and to its smooth surface. Cold as ice. Rolling from the safe haven and about the balcony, once bet with the dew of the morning, the orb rolled under Yami's long night coat and under his shirt. "Ack!!!" His body curled up away and the orb came out from under the coat, humming. "You little!" He got up, laughing as he tried to go after the orb, which slipped off inside the mansion and under a coffee table. Yami shivered as he got up and walked inside, had they really slept outside?
He looked around. "Triiiiiiistaaa-aaah-am." He cooed gently as he smile, wondering what all that had been about as he looked for the orb. "Where Aaaah-are yoooooou?" He looked under a nearby couch, his ears stiffen as he heard something rolling behind him and he turned, getting just a glance of the black and white-cyan orb. "ahah!" He got up and walked out of the room, watching the orb rolling away down the hall. He stepped lightly after it and picked it up soon before it got anywhere near the staircase. "Gotcha."
The orb hummmed and wiggled about his hands, making him laugh harder. "Hey! What are you trying to do? fall on the floor?" He smiled as the orb calmed down and he let it slip into his coat pocket, hearing it hummm as he walked down the stairs, thinking about breakfast, that's when it hit him. Normally, it took several hours after waking up for him to even get out of depression or whatever fear his dreams had force into his mind. He stop at the last step of the staircase, looking up for a moment before taking the orb out, putting it on the ground. "You are one sneacky b*****d, you know" He started to walk, the orb following after him, humming happily, as if understanding what he was reffering to.

[Orb Entry V]
"Please stay put, Tristam!" Yami laughed and leaned back on his chair, trying to paint both cats and an orb was almost impossible. He shook his head. "Alright, you guys can move..." The cats went off to do whatever they did all day, the man had little idea what, the orb rolled to the end of the table and hummm. Reaching out, he picked it up and put Tristam on the ground. "There we go." He went back to painting, Tristam rarely leaving his side, so he would just work on his part of the painting as the orb rolled around, pushing a tennis ball here and there or opening up his old sketchbooks. Sometimes even moving the newspapers that lay on the ground.
Once Yami was finally satisfy with today's progress, he got up. "Come on, Tristam, lets-" He stop as he saw the orb, cover in specs of white, red, orage and violet. "you been painting again, little one?" He picked up the orb, shaking his head as he looked around, finding the bottles of paint the orb had knock over, again, to get the paint out. He picked up the bottles and looked about, looking at the newspaper-cover floor, now bright with colors. "Nice..." He chuckled, looking at it. "I wish you could tell me what it is." Picking up a cloth as he cleaned the paint off the orb. "You really love to just do that, don't you? Next time, just get me and I'll get the colors...." He sighed and shook his head, smiling some. "Maybe I should teach you how to write your name.....um....nah.....at least not today"
He walked out of the paint room, putting the orb down. "Come on." The orb rolled from side to side in the hall infront of him, already learning the semi-routine that lay in his days. It knew that now they were going to the music room, so Yami could practice his piano, that is if the orb would only let him. The man needed to find something to distract the small orb, it was almost impossible to finish any songs he started.

[Orb Entry VI]
Sherkan pawed at a key in the piano, making it resound. Yami stood by the piano, tuning the string of the key Sherkan had just played. Duchess and Tristam rested by male cat, listening closely and watching. "Alright, try again." Sherkan played the note again, sounding more refine. The man smile and nodded and the feline played the next key. It took them a while, but once the strings were tuned, the shapeshifter moved the cats and the orb to the top of the piano and sat down in front of the black concert piano.
His fingers rested lightly on the cold keys, the scars on his fingers tips feeling more real now. He sighed and close his eyes slowly and started to play a slow sorrowful melody. Sherkan lay down and put his head down, his ears perked up forward as he listen to his master's music. Duchess stayed sit, but listen as well, rather hypnotize by the movement of the man's fingers; the orb, on the other hand, hummmed gently, feeling the vibrations of the piano underneath it. Yami smiled ever so gently at this as he kept playing, everything seem calm today, moving on gently at without much trouble. That was good.
His fingers slowly pressed the last keys, finishing the song. They all stayed silent, waiting for the echo to finally disperse and disappeared from the room. They remind immobile, as if time had stop for all of them. The cats stare at their master unblinked as he remind in the same position with his head bow and his eyes close, thought a friendly smile still lingering on his lips. His mismatched eyes slowly open. "Alright....you may all go crazy now...."
Sherkan leaped off the piano, follow by Duchess, Tristam rolled to follow them but Yami caught the orb before it went off the edge. "You....need to be more careful." He chuckled and put the orb on the floor, letting chase after the cats. He got up, getting ready to go play hide and go seek with them, tho his fingers linger on the piano keys, he looked at them, then to the floor and his eyes slowly made a path to where a thin-layer of dust covered violin case rested, unmoved by the years. He sighed. "Bella......" He murmur before walking out of the music room.
