The Statue

Room description, guild info, & rules

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.In sharp contrast with the room you just exited, this room is big. Really, really big. Straight ahead of you is a huge emaciated statue of a man, made entirely of discarded peices of machinery and electronics, who wears a red peice of cloth overtop of where the mouth might be. He seems to stare blandly up at the sky without any purpose or real reason for being there - and there is a sky, a sickly looking thing that's pale blue only when not obscured by an ever-shifting grey cloud cover. The light source for the room is unclear, as there's no sun in sight. The horizon spreads as far as you can see to the left and right, but it mostly seems to be a vast expanse of lifeless dirt. The only peices of interest are the statue and a few buildings in it's direct vicinity. Adding a splash of colour to the generally drab room, one squat building to the left sports a large sign that spells out PARTY in mulitcoloured flourescent lights, and a front door with a big white exlamation mark painted crudely across it. Inside there's a darkly lighted bar/lounge with a robotic bartender that doesn't speak, but who will often stand there listening to patrons' conversations. Another building the size of a warehouse has no markings on the front, but inside holds a large collection of broken robots and mechas, some of which aren't as inoperational as they look. Glancing away from those two more obvious structures, you can see a robotic eye on a small stalk poking randomly out of the ground off to the right. It blinks occasionly but doesn't seem to be looking at anything in particular. Moreover, a ways off in the distance there stands an oddly shaped skyscraper with a variety of sattelite dishes and other indiscernable devices hapazardly poking out of the sides. This building holds a variety of abandoned and not-so-abandoned laboratories and offices, if one actually cares to go out that far.

And finally, behind you is the room you just came from, visible only as a small falling-apart aluminum shed with no connection to any larger building, especially not the suspicious, crippled apartment building you just came from. For a split second a pockmarked grey rock scuttles across your field of vision, and you have just enough time to spot tiny mechanical legs pulling it along before it dissapears behind the shed. Rumour on the street is that some Zurg technology was hijacked to create this room, and you certainly see how someone could get that impression. Nothing left to do now but explore.

So, what exactly is The Artificial Room?

There are multiple answers to that question, so here's a list.

1. The Artificial Room started out as a thread in The 5th Annual Ball, which you can take a look at in the "Memorable Threads" Gaia forum, but the ball had to end after a few days and the demand for a guild was high enough that System Virus and Dycedarg Beoulve decided to pitch in the gold to buy a GGN Guild.

2. The Artificial Room is a hang-out guild, where users can gather and talk about pretty much whatever, often in a casual roleplay setting.

3. The Artificial Room is a serious roleplay guild, set in a flexible enough environment to allow users to do almost anything they can think of.

4. The Artificial Room is a world in itself, partially a roleplay and partially just a gathering place, connected to Gaia and yet seperate from Gaia, where people go to talk, roleplay, and generally have a good time.

General Rules

1. Follow the Gaia TOS. All the regular Gaia rules apply within any guild.
2. No godmoding or powerplaying. (Go look them up if you don't know what they mean.)
3. No blowing up, graffitiing, or otherwise defacing major structures. (i.e. stickies. Non-stickied threads may have varied rules about IC damage, etc., but make sure to check with the thread creator.)
4. Don't take OOC grudges IC, and vice-versa.
5. Listen to System Virus and Dycedarg Beoulve.
6. Listen to whoever created the thread that you happen to be posting in, and ALWAYS at least read the first posts.
7. Respect each other OOC, take any conflicts to pm. IC, you can be nasty as you like. (But plz see rule 4)
8. Keep OOC to a minimum in IC threads, especially the more literate/serious ones.
9. You ARE allowed to roleplay a character that does not look like your Gaia avatar, HOWEVER, it must be generally human-like. No animals, dragons, unicorns, etc., although furries are allowed. The one exception to this rule is robots. You can roleplay just about any kind of robot you want, but remember the other rules. No godmoding: you're not indesctructible.

Thread Creation Guidelines

1. Look through the Thread Categories below when creating a new thread, and make sure to indicate the category of your thread in the subject line.
2. If you see a lot of OOC threads around already, try to go for a more roleplay-related one. You can create any kind of IC building or structure you want, but if it's particularly large or complicated you may want to come up with some kind of backstory as to how it got here, considering The Artificial Room started out as fairly barren. One easy way to explain a building's sudden appearance is that parts to create the building came from The Warehouse, although then your building is probably going to have something of a mis-matched appearance. Be creative; description is good.
3. Keep the roleplay within the realm of The Artificial Room. Remember, the Room is attatched to Gaia, so anything that's not out of place in Gaia is perfectly alright in the Room. This gives you a lot of options. If you're not sure if your particular thread is allowed, ask one of the crew.

The World of The Artificial Room
These aren't really rules, but they clear up a bit about what The Artificial Room actually is.

1. The Artificial Room is an artificially created environment, (Zurg tech is suspected,) which resembles your typical sci-fi 'alternate dimension.'
2. The Artificial Room is attatched to Gaia by means of a large metal door, that was originally located next to the other doors at The 5th Annual Ball, but has somehow moved itself to a deserted(?) apartment building in Aekea.
3. The Artificial Room is mostly barren, but more buildings have been popping up over time. It is an infinate room. If you keep walking in one direction, you will simply go on forever. This may change in the future, but right now there is absolutely nothing to find when you explore beyond the small collection of buildings that are placed around the entrance. (Although, as more buildings and areas pop up, there may be more to see further out.)
4. Magic and very advanced technology both exist here. Like what has been stated earlier, anything that exists on Gaia, can exist here. Although there is far more of a technological bent here, where on Gaia as a whole it's generally magic-focused.
5. Some have suggested that The Artificial Room is actually a 'gateway' dimension between Gaia and something else, although as far as anyone here now can tell there is absolutely no proof of this, and there is no way currently to get to any other dimensions through The Artificial Room, so this rumour may very well be completely unfounded.

Thread Categories
From now on, each thread is going to have it's own category, to be placed after the thread name. It makes it easier for users to find the kind of thread that they're looking for. The catergories are as follows:

[G]
General. Anything goes, from light roleplay to serious roleplay to entirely OOC.

[OOC]
Usually strictly Out Of Character, but light roleplaying is allowed (Unless stated otherwise in the first post.)

[GRP]
General Role Play. All levels of roleplay are allowed, although you should try to stick to roleplaying and not go OOC too much.

[C]
Casual roleplay. Try to stick to shorter roleplay posts, + one line posts are perfectly fine. OOC is usually allowed at a minimum.

[LRP]
Literate Role Play. Some would refer to this as only semi-literate, but either way, posts are expected to be at least one or two good sized paragraphs in length, and the thread makers here may be pickier about who they want to roleplay in these threads. See what level the other people are roleplaying at in these threads, and decide if you belong in them or not.

[+RP]
Um, extra literate roleplay? These are probably going to be pretty rare, but when they do pop up, be prepared to read pages of stuff. The standards here are going to be very high and literary, and the thread makers are going to be very very very picky about who they're going to allow to roleplay here. There's likely going to be a much tighter storyline than in other threads. Posts will be long. Tread with care. If you make a thread that you deem [+RP] but that the mods think more closely resembles [LRP] or even a lower standard, your thread category may be changed without consulting you.

*While System is making the Bar more attractive, Dyce steps outside to check on the statue, which bears a striking resemblence to his father, Clunk Bent*

Why did you have to be a hero?
If you had just waited a bit longer, you might still be here...
But then, the war would have had a different outcome.
Still...

*Before going into a further depression, Dyce saunters back to the Bar to resume his duties*

Get well. I haven't had a fever in forever... stare not that I want to jinx myself saying that. And when I do get a fever, I just work it out. XD

And I've been dipping into personal funds to get certain items in case we ever decide to host contests or anything of the sort.
