I know there are quite a few out there, at least displaying certain themes of SteamPunk. We are at the advent of some supposedly good ones, titled, "Stardust", and "The Golden Compass". Are there any that you may have personally seen recently.
Just today I rented, "Around the World in 80 Days" with Jackie Chan. It's delightfully comical, and a grand adventure if I do say so myself. It's perhaps not a masterpiece in itself, but it is a must see for those who are either of a Jackie Chan fanbase, a steampunk enthusiast, or Jules Verne readers. It's quite amusing, and a good movie for any to pick up. I was a bit put off however by the strange scenes which were computer animated, but they didn't detract too much from the movie. I have not read the original novel, so I can not say much as to the accuracy of the rendering, but I think it is safe to say that Passepartout was most probably not a martial artist.

You can actually find that Twenty Thousands Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the centre of the Earth and Voyage from the Earth to the Moon have all been made into films (if you can find them) - and they're the ones he's most well known for. :/
The Golden Compass! pah! It's supposed to be the Northern Lights! You Americans changing the names of things....
Anyways.... One of my favourite Steampunk films is the anime, Steamboy. 'tis very fun - even if you don't view it as 'authentic' steampunk (as I do).
They're also going to made Mortal Engines etc. into a film sometime.

SteamBoy isn't authentic 'SteamPunk'? I've regarded as the epitome of SteamPunk, unknowingly. I don't suppose you could explain why it isn't steampunk.

To be honest I agree with you completely, however many people I've seen have cast scorn on my assertations that it is steampunk, mostly because it is anime. Previous when I said it was real steampunk my views were thrashed aside. I personally think it is, as it includes evreything steampunk should (as you say, the eptiome of stampunk), anime or not. Basically, i was just covering my a** in case most people disagreed with me :/I shall now go an amend my previous post... *pots about a bit* Please, everyone, disregard my previous statement. It's lies. LIES all of it! It is authentic!

Aye, I'm pretty surprised at the not being authentic part as well, it seems to me it's about as victorian industrial-revolution steam-powered as it can get. o:
It's one of my personal favorites myself.
EDIT : Nvm, now we know. X3
Another I really like is Howl's Moving Castle. Very muchly more emphasised on fantasy (considering all the magic involved), but the world it's set in is pretty much also in the victorian ind-revolution.

I have just watched "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." There's not much to do about steam contraptions but I quite enjoyed the rendering of the Nautilus, Captain Nemo's legendary submarine, and overall it was a great movie nonetheless, making use of many fictional characters from literature written in that old forgotten era, such as Allen Quartermain, Dorian Grey, Dr. Jekyll & Hyde, Moriarty, the Invisible Man, and even Tom Sawyer, taking a page from American literature. Quite a fascinating film.

though it's not a movie should we add the "Last Exile" series? I believe it's steampunk, all the flyers seem to be driven off steam and it seems the time period type look and feel to are about right.

actually most of My exposure to steampunk is from anime... giant robot anime too where the bots are all driven of steam, it's all series though not actual movies
