I'm still out there looking for you. ...Where are you now?" -= Banner by Remedi, Colored Manga by Amaretti =-It had been a long journey for Uchiha Sasuke. Long, hard, and tiring, but he had managed to accomplish the one task he had ever wanted to complete: Avenge the Uchiha clan by killing Uchiha Itachi. Save, he could not do it by himself. Itachi was part of the all-powerful Akatsuki, and Sasuke knew that he could not do it alone. ("Hn.") This is where Team Hebi came in. Team Hebi consisted of four people.
First, there was Suigetsu, who had a wide range of skills. ("Hehe.") He agreed to help Sasuke because he wanted the Samehada, a sword that was at the time in Itachi's partner's possession. ("Which is really lame.")
("Karin. Shut up.")
Second, there was Karin, the female. Karin could track anyone just from their chakra; A tool essential in locating Uchiha Itachi. At first, she was reluctant to go with Sasuke because of Suigetsu. Soon after, however, she agreed to go, because she liked Sasuke. A lot. ("W-what?! LIES! I do not!")
("Yes, you do! It's so obvious!")
("It is NOT obvious!")
("Look! You just admitted it!")
("...Wha!? Wait, n-no! I-...I do not like him! Dammit, Suigetsu! Leave me alone!")
Third was Juugo, a man who went to Orochimaru of his own free will in order to figure out a solution to his killing urges. He himself was the inspiration behind the infamous curse seal. ("If I would have known it would end up being used for such purposes...") He agreed to team up with Sasuke because Kimimaro, the only person able to supress his will to murder, died for the young avenger.
Last, but formost, was Uchiha Sasuke. ("Sasuke~")
("SEE? You are SO infatuated with him!")
("Y-you again?! I am NOT! Shut. Up. Now!")
("Liar! Liar!")
("What's going on? Suigetsu, leave her alone.")
("Agh...Fine. Sorry, Karin.")
("Hmph!")
After Uchiha Itachi, and various other members of Akatsuki were defeated thanks to Hebi, Team 8, and Team 7, his two former teammates, Sakura and Naruto, took him back to his hometown, Konoha. The rest of Team Hebi was left alone, and soon after, split ways as well.
Due to the riddance of Orochimaru and Itachi, Sasuke wasn't given a major punishment. The last Uchiha was sentenced to six months of house arrest.
Six months later, in the cool September, Sasuke was released, and suprising everyone, desired to exit Konoha once more.-----"Why can't we go with you?!" a female yelled at his figure. Haruno Sakura was not happy with this decision.
"You just got back! And you...we...we don't even know where they are! Why do you even want to look for them?!" The blonde, Uzumaki Naruto, sided with the female. The cloaked Uchiha turned away from his team, staring out into the forest as a flock of birds flew among the brush.
"...I owe them a thank you."
Meanwhile, the members of Hebi had started their own lives anew.------"What is the chance of finding you out there?"- "Where Are You Now?", Michelle Branch

[WTF at official colors, indeed.. eh, well.. I'll still go with them. Except.. eyes are unknown right now, so I have an excuse to give him some blue -- SUIGETSU'S EYES ARE NOW BLUE. >D
Edit: No, they're not. DDx PURPLE.]
The town was bustling with excitement. Excitement for what one could only wonder. There were little kids running around, dogs running amuck, and even a few adults hopping around as if they were attempting to dance.. badly. This was only one of the reasons Suigetsu felt uneasy about laying down his two precious swords.. one of these lunatics might run off with them.
He paused, thought about it for a moment, and then snickered to himself. He was sure he placed them in a very well hidden place, and even if someone were to come across them, none of the people in the town looked as though they could lift either one. No, there wasn't anything to worry about.. he hoped..
But he very well couldn't have brought his weapons with him. He was a wanted criminal, and if anyone saw him with his swords, he'd have ANBU after him in the blink of an eye. Those guys were fast.. but if there were only a few, he could take them.. and now that he thought about it, he hadn't killed anyone in two days..
"Hey, hey! Want a free sample?" a woman behind a stand asked the cloaked figure. She couldn't see his face, but he was just walking so she was sure he had nothing better to do. "It's really good!"
Suigetsu turned to face the woman. She was waving at him with something on a small stick. It was dark brown.. almost black.. was the woman blind, or was he the only one who noticed that the thing was melting? "Uh.."
"You won't regret it! You'll love it! C'mon, try it!"
He frowned. She was so persistent.. okay. He would try this dark brown food item. If it was bad, she would die. But oh wait, he didn't have his swords.. okay. If it was bad, he would run off and get his swords, and then she would die.
Somewhat hesitant, he stepped toward the woman's stand and reached out to take the stick from her wrinkly old hand. He held it in front of his face and examined it for a little while before sniffing it.
"It's not going to kill you."
Well, that was certainly a nice thought to put into his mind. He hadn't been thinking it would kill him until now, and he most certainly did NOT want to go down eating a piece of brown.. something. What a way to die.
His stomach reminded him that he was starving. It wasn't easy being on your own in a place like this, and it was hard to get food. So he had to take whatever he could get.
The young man opened his mouth, clamping it shut once the toothpick was inside. He let the taste settle prior to making his decision. It was moist, it was creamy, it was.. somewhat sweet. It was good, and he felt a little wave of hyper-ness after finishing it.
Leaving the toothpick in his mouth he stared at the woman from under the hood of his cloak.
".. Like it? It's called chocolate, honey." She bent down, disappeared from view, and reappeared with a whole crate full of chocolate. "And all it'll cost you is a little money.."
'A little money?' He didn't have ANY money. And this woman should have been grateful! This chocolate stuff was good; she wasn't going to die. But he needed money.. he needed money now. "I'll be right back.."
No more than half an hour later he returned, money in hand. He gave her the cash, and she gave him a box full of chocolate.
"Enjoy!"
Suigetsu merely nodded at her as he cradled his box of chocolate and returned to where his swords were waiting for him, a smile on his face.

[[I find it strange that all of my characters have unnaturally bright hair colors. XD Sakura's isn't so bright, but anyways...OFF WE GO~]]
The sun was high, and like everyday in this new place, tourists from everywhere were walking along the streets, boardwalks, beach, and wherever else. It was nice, she mused, that the town was always cheery and clean. In the time she lived here, only a few familiar faces stuck through the crowd; people came and went as quickly as time flew by. Karin took an intake of coast air, and smiled as she leaned against the railing of the sandy boardwalk. Even in the autumn, a town on the coast was a great place to live.
"So, like, dude. I was like, surfing right? And like, this RAD wave came, and like, totally broke my board in half. Huhuhu, I think I like, broke my leg, but like...dude, the wave was just awesooome."
Karin's eye twitched behind her glasses.
Correction, she thought, I HATE THIS PLACE.
And in all truth, she did. Ninety percent of the tourists were complete dumbasses, everything was expensive, and hearing seagulls ALL DAMN DAY got pretty old.
The woman sighed, and ran her hair through her bright red locks.
Life sucked. There was nothing to do anymore, now that Hebi had split up. Despite the fact that that journey was mostly god awful, Karin found it a lot better than living a "normal" life.
Not that living was hard. Thanks to her close relations to Orochimaru in the past, and her talent to seek out things, it wasn't particularly hard to find money after Hebi went their seperate ways. One trip to the hideout she used to run (which also happened to be miles outwards of the very coast in which she now lived), and she was set for long enough to find something else to do.
She still had yet to find that "something", and she wished that she was a person who always knew what she wanted. Because she didn't know. And that left her in this town, bored as all hell.
Irritation now cemeted in her mind, the young woman pushed herself off of the boardwalk railing, and headed for the streets of the bustling town.
Nothing some sweets shouldn't cure.
On her way to her favorite stand (their chocolate was to DIE for), thoughts once again drifted to her past life. With Hebi. She could admit it, but only to herself, that she honestly missed being with the group.
Juugo, of course, was a pretty decent guy...when he wasn't on killing rampages. He was satisfied with less than most people, and as quiet and standoffish as he was, he was a big guy with a big heart. Of course, he was able to stay this way most of the time, with the help of one Uchiha Sasuke.
Sasuke, Sasuke. Who wouldn't miss him? Out of all Hebi members, Karin was sure she missed Sasuke the most. He was just so cool, and so mysterious! And by God, was he fine! The days when he walked around, exposing that toned chest, Oh! They were the best days of Karin's life.
Karin smiled, cheeks a tint of pink as she passed the townsfolk until she reached the chocolate stand. Pulling out a bill and some change from her short pocket, she glanced at the woman.
"Oh, hey, hun. Usual?"
"Yeah."
The woman behind the stand turned to get Karin's order, and Karin took a deep breath. The smell of chocolate always calmed her down.
And she would NEVER EVER EVER admit it, but she even missed arguing with that lazy moron, Suigetsu...
Chocolate wasn't the only thing that hit her senses.
Karin immediately stiffened, and her body turned a full one-eighty, eyes frantically scanning the streets. That lazy moron was somewhere in town.
Karin groaned.
Just my damn luck! What business does that jerk have here?!
A voice interrupted the female's thoughts.
"Hey, here's you chocolate."
"Thanks..." Karin said quickly, taking her bag of chocolate squares and heading back to the streets. She kept her body alert, following a path that she knew would lead her to the man she once had the displeasure to fight alongside. Like money, finding Suigetsu wasn't hard either. There he was, sitting with his two swords, and a box of chocolates...Oh look, they actually had something in common!
Sarcasm.
"Hey!" she called to the platinum-haired male, arms crossed against her chest, and her bag of sweets dangling from one hand.
"I don't appreciate your stench," and by that, she meant his chakra, "all over my town."

While Suigetsu ate his chocolate, he took the time to reminisce. He would never admit he missed the days of Hebi, and to be honest he didn't miss them much. Sasuke was a controlling jerk, Karin had anger management problems, and Juugo was a freak with a split-personality disorder. None of them took a joke very well, and the only one who really responded to his jokes was Karin.. though she either attempted to punch him or insulted him, but it was still some kind of response.
So out of the three of them, he regretfully admitted to himself that he missed her the most.
Even if her red-hair, annoying voice, and revealing clothes got on his nerves.
He glanced at the Samehada resting beside him. A smirk formed on his lips as he remembered how brutally he had murdered Kisame to get that sword. It had helped Sasuke a great deal in defeating Itachi, and not to mention it was so worth it. The Samehada was a great weapon.
His attention returned to his box of chocolate. He stuck the toothpick inside and pulled out another square. Chocolate was unbelievably delicious, but it was sweet, and if he remembered correctly, Sasuke hated sweets. The boy had told him that once.. just randomly. That must have been why they never stopped at a chocolate stand for snacks.
It had been six months.. he wondered how all of them were doing..
"Hey!"
Flicking the toothpick in his mouth up and down with his tongue, Suigetsu turned his head to face the female. He grinned to himself and extracted the item from between his lips. But before he had a chance to say anything, she spoke.
"I don't appreciate your stench, all over my town."
He stared at her with his baby-blue eyes, and blinked a couple of times. "My 'stench'? .. 'Her' town?" With a sigh he leaned back on the ground. "How sad. I was expecting you to say how much you missed me after six months," he commented with feigned hurt, smirk in place. "Because you know.. I missed you.." A pause. "Strawberry Shortcake."

"How sad. I was expecting you to say how much you missed me after six months,"
Karin's eyes narrowed, glaring at the smirk on his ugly face.
"Strawberry Shortcake."
Karin's jaw dropped momentarily, cheeks nearly matching her hair in embarassment and frustration. With a irritated huff, she leaned her weight on her leg, her hip swaying a bit to the left.
"Oh, how sweet of you," she replied in a voice a bit more feminine than her natural voice, eyes rolling to the sky. "To think of me and come visit. Honestly, Suigetsu," she said, placing on hand to her chest.
"I'm flattered."
She walked right up to his side, and glared down.
"It's too bad I don't care for your company!" she cried, before lifting a foot and slamming it down where his face was.
Of course, from all the times she previously tried to attack him in Hebi, she was fairly certain he'd liquify and then tease her about it.
Damn shame.
As her foot descendend, she mulled in irritation.
In all these months, he hasn't changed one bit!

.. She was such a b***h.
He blinked at the sudden lack of sunlight before quickly moving off to the side and sitting up. Normally when she tried to physically injure him he would liquefy his body, but this involved her dirty foot-wear and his face. Like hell he was going to let her pollute his water supply.
The bag of chocolates in her hand grabbed his attention. He had finished his.
"Wow. Now that Sasuke's not around, I see you're not worrying about your precious figure.. not that it was ever precious." He shot a toothy grin in her direction, knowing his statement would piss her off. She really was a 24/7 b***h.. he didn't know if he liked the fact that she hadn't changed over the past six months or not.
Tilting his head a bit, his expression turned thoughtful. "It looks like you've gained some pounds. Maybe you should leave that chocolate with me."

...He was such an a**!
After successfully stomping the ground, and hearing such a comment about her weight, she took two steps back, a frown adorning her face, and a blush apparent yet again.
"W-what?! I never watched my weight when Sasuke was around!"
Her free hand pushed up her glasses once, before her arms crossed.
Low.
To cover her tummy. There was no way he could have noticed the extra two pounds she gained. Could he?!
"Suigetsu," she finally called to the young man, "At least try not to sound like you've been checking me out."
The corners of her lips turned upwards, in a sly grin at the last comment, then settled back into her peeved frown.
"The ridiculous weight comment is not going to get my chocolate into your greedy hands. If you want more, go buy some!"

The smirk dropped from his face faster than an eye could blink. She had just accused him of checking her out..
"Don't flatter yourself.. I just haven't seen you in so long, and it's kind of hard not to notice the fat starting to hang out. Don't think you can hide it," he commented, referring to how she had folded her arms in a lame attempt to keep him from seeing what he wasn't even serious about.
He tossed his toothpick onto the ground and stood up. "I thought you didn't want me in 'your' town? Yet here you are, telling me to go buy some more chocolate.. in 'your' town." While on Team Hebi, one of his hobbies had been turning her sentences around and using them against her. That was one thing he had definitely missed.
"Nice to know you don't want me to leave yet." He chuckled. "Got something planned for me, Karin?"
The young man turned away from her to bend down and lift his swords from the ground. He strapped Zabuza's to his back, and pulled his cloak back on before carrying the Samehada with his left hand. "Just so you know, even if you didn't want me buying chocolate here, I'd buy some anyway. But.. I don't have anymore money, so.. I can't." A defeated look crossed his face for a moment.
"I'd say it was nice seeing you again, but that would be a lie." Oh, he was going to miss this. "And seeing as how I'm broke and have no place to stay here, I suppose I'll be moving on to the next town." He closed his eyes and brushed past her. "See ya, Strawberry Shortcake."

As Suigetsu continued to Karin's displeasure, the 'Fat Attack', Karin's arms remained covering her tummy, and her ruby eyes did nothing but attempt to burn holes through his stupid head.
"Good riddance," she muttered as he picked up his swords and stood up. Something in his face was noticably different in that moment, but by the time Karin could do a double take on his expression, the look was gone.
Well.
Oh, boo hoo. He was broke, and had no place to stay. What was he trying to do, make her wallow in pity, give him some money and a bed, and then in the morning, wave goodbye as he walked out to go but more chocolate, and never see him again?
Who was she, Mother Theresa?!
He stepped past her, and as she heard his footsteps retreateing she allowed herself to close her eyes. But she didn't look back.
When...when was the last time you actually fussed at someone...because that's all you and that person ever did? she asked herself.
A tiny smile appeared on face. Slowly, her head turned, and out of the corner of her lenses, she caught his cloaked figure, walking away with two swords.
It's exactly like six months ago. I remember thinking who I would take my frustrations out on without him there to insult.
Yes. She admitted it. She missed Sasuke, and she missed Juugo. And after all, Suigetsu had given her more memorable times than the other two combined.
She really HAD missed him, too.
There's a big pile of dishes in the sink Waterboy would just LOVE to wash in exchange for the couch for a night.
...
And then the evil, maniac-like smile came about. Resisting the urge to cackle at her own GENIUS self, she turned around, and changed her expression to one of sly irritance.
"Hey, Waterboy!" she called after him. "With all the breaks you used to take, you won't be able to get three blocks without a break! And the nearest town is a day's run."
On the outside, she kicked the ground and frowned. On the inside, she chuckled.
"I'll lend you a place and some food, and once you're prepared for the travel you can get the hell out of my life."

When she called after him he slowed to a stop, but kept his back facing her. Part of him wanted to continue moving; she was just purposely wasting his time so he wouldn't reach the next town until long after nightfall. Another part of him wanted to see what she had to say.
He almost started walking again when she made that teasing remark about all the breaks he took. So what? He loved his water and was simply.. out of shape, that was all. He couldn't help it.
"Get to the point, Karin," he thought irritably.
"I'll lend you a place and some food, and once you're prepared for the travel you can get the hell out of my life."
In his shock he spun around to face her, eyes wide at first but narrowing as he traced her face for a hint of a smirk to show that she was only kidding. Why the hell would Karin, of all people, offer him a place to stay?
The fact that she was going to use him to do her chores never crossed his mind.
"Oh, I wouldn't want to impose.." he began, his expression showing that he was unsure. That disappeared in an instant, however, and was replaced with his usual grinning face. "But if you insist, I'll take you up on your generous offer."
She didn't look like she was kidding, though he knew Karin was the most untrustworthy Hebi member. There was going to be some kind of catch if he was to stay with her.. wherever that might be. He had to admit he was somewhat surprised she even had a place to live.
"Lead the way."

Well, for one, Karin was suprised that Suigetsu actually considered the offer.
She had expected him to at least call her out on a suspicion. After all, she wasn't a very trustworthy person (something she, personally, had no problems with), and out of all the people, she expected him to trust her the least.
Ha! He really IS an idiot! she cried cheerfully in her mind.
"Well, you're the one who missed me, right?" she teased as she pivoted on the heels of her sandals and began walking back to the streets.
"I pity you, is all. You're little goal is collect the swords of those Mist swordsmen, correct? It's been six months, and you still only have two swords." she grinned and laughed, her steady pace of walking never dwindling. If he was in a bad enough predicament to honestly need to stay with her, then he'd follow.

A subtle frown became visible as he remained standing where he was, watching her walk away.
Did he really want to follow her? She was insulting him every chance she got. At least he had backed off.. for now. She had the ability to make his life a living hell, and for all he knew, she was planning on poisoning him so he would be out of her life forever. He wasn't ready to die! Albeit if he did, he would haunt her until she died.
She pitied him. That was pathetic. To have someone like Karin PITY HIM.
She had described his goal as 'little'.. she had managed to hurt his pride a bit with that one.
But he had nowhere to stay, and as much as it pained him to admit, at the moment he needed this.
Knowing he would some day regret his decision, he followed after her.

Karin noted Suigetsu's chakra following her, and so she never turned back, just kept walking in the the direction of her apartment, every now and then glancing at the windows of the souvenier shops and restaurants. All worthless junk, she mentally scoffed. Yes, some things were cute, but Karin was never one to splurge in anything she didn't need (Sometimes she NEEDED chocolate...), and so she never truely treated herself at any of these places.
After all, she was trying to save as much money as she could. She had quite a bit, but it wouldn't last her forever.
After a good ten minutes, she stopped at a small little home. The apartment complex she lived in, thankfully, was made of a few streets of small homes to themselves. Thank God, she praised, because she got the privacy of her own building, and yard.
She walked down the little stone pathway to her doorstep, and taking out a key from her pockets, unlocked it and stepped in, leaving it open and waiting inside at the door for her former teammate to enter.
The house wasn't big at all, but enough for one or two people. The living room connected to a tiny kitchen. There was one hallway, which led to a bedroom, and a bathroom. The living room was her favorite. It had one pastel yellow sofa, a matching recliner, a wooden coffee table, a TV, a small fishtank, and a window that let a great amount of coast sunshine into the room. Not the mention looking out, you could see the beach.
"Don't make a mess," was all she said to Suigetsu at the door.
