I dunno, just figured this would be a cool topic for people who've never been or just want some tips to keep the day fun and safe.
I think two obvious and awesome tips are:
One. Bring in a sealed bottle of water and refill it at the waterfoutains.
Water is pretty expensive and keeping hydrated is important. Kind of helpful if you're on a budget if not gives you more money for merch and swag.
two. Don't just put on sunscreen, bring it.
First year I brought no sunscreen and I was burnt like mad whoa. Where I go there is no shade so it's really important. Make sure you keep applying it through out the day and that it's water proof, because it's a sweaty day.

Thank you for making a topic like this. And yes, the water is about three bucks a bottle. This year, (if I go) I am going to try and not get a lot of merch... until 'after' my fave bands play lol!

Good thing too. Yes, the water is spendy. But we didn't have any fountains at our meadow... damn. But I'm going to see about taking a couple of bottles if I can... and buy them as I get thirsty.
And like Plauop, I'm going to hold off buying merch until after my bands play... because during AFI last year, I almost lost my freshly bought Jade t-shirt and my roomie's Davey t-shirt for Decemberunderground.

I usually take a back pack. I don't really get into the pits or anything as I like to try for decent photos and such.
That's actually a good tip to wait for merch thought.

Yeah... CuB... that is a good idea. You and Peiko need to take backpacks... or you could take your Hellsing shoulder-bag. ^_^

Disposable camera, sharpie, and backpack. Disposable because it is pit-friendly, and backpack to hold all the free s**t you'll get and not have to worry about it in the pit.

The only free stuff I got was some 'breast' health and 'traders' stickers... and a mini-poster of bands playing at the Jack'n'Box stage (which hosted AFI, Motion City Soundtrack*they played before AFI ^_^* and some others...)
and...
FUDGE YOU! PLAUOP! YOU BRING A BAG!

from what ive heard, alot of the bands on the smaller stages give out little promotional stuff. But it doesnt matter, cause the bag is useful to carry other stuff too.

Jacksonville sucks. We can't bring in bottles of water. If you try, they pour them out and take the empty bottle. And if you bring in a bag, they have to check it out before you go in. -__-
Oh, and a suggestion: Wear SHORTS and a shirt you won't die in. Don't bring a jacket unless you like sweating everywhere. Because you will take the thing off, and you'll be stuck carrying it all day. Wear shoes that lace up, or slip-ons (like vans or something). Just steer clear of backless shoes and flip- flops. And if you're not embarassed by your body, I suggest wearing a bikini top under your shirt if you live down South where it will be in the upper 90s. Most people end up pulling their shirts up anyway.

All good pointers. I try to not wear tank tops, cus I have tatts, and I dont want them to fade early. I wore a hat last year though, it was one of those Kyo hats that Suncoast sold. (Kyo is from Fruits Basket, well the one I am talking about)

Well, that must suck. I went to the New York one 06' and bags and water were allowed. I thank the heavens I bought water with me, the water they were selling was 3bucks and it was hot. scream
Oh, and it's also unbearably hot and humid up North. It was 100 degrees at Warped. Me and my brother got soaked on the slip and slide and the nerf water gun tent thing....15 minutes later we were dry.
Oh...one important thing, to any other New Yorkers, in most New York concerts I have gone to, it is really foolish to wear Vans. Hardly no one does, because the people who do end up losing them crowd surfing, pits, or just standing in the crowd.
on a final note...
For god's sake....BRING SUN SCREEN!!!! Don't just slather it on before going, bring the bottle with you. Despite being Hispanic and "tanning easily"....I got sun burned last year, because I'm really pale. xp
