The young girl named Lightning Shadow X was making her dinner, thinking over her day before she moved up the stairs to check on her cat.
As she opened the door of her room she paused at the sight of a box on her bed...what was that doing there?
A gift from her parents or relatives for looking after her brat of a nephew?
Hell, she deserved it!
She looked over it and blinked as she saw a piece of paper that she quickly picked up and started to read as she sat down next to the box.
Dear Lightning,
Upon hearing your troubles in the real world I have sent one of my own to watch over you, but you must take care of it in return. Enclosed in that box is a orb shaped crystal that will show you your dreams and solidify them into a guardian. I will be paying you a visit during the week.
The Goblin King
Lightning read the words to herself, brows furrowing slightly as she thought this over.
So did this mean...her little nephew was gone?
That noisy little brat that always kept her up every night was finally gone?
...
YES!! SHE WAS FREE! FINALLY FREE!
A smile split over the red haired girl's face and she looked down at the note once more, a box? A crystal?
..Her dreams and wishes?
She looked over to the ornamented box before opening it and looking inside.
She saw the small, green glowing orb with with wisps of purple smoke inside, sitting inside the box atop a small cushion to stop it from breaking.
With the greatest of care she picked it up and looked over it, holding it in both her hands.
It was so beautiful and so unique, she looked over it with so much interest, her bright yellow eye's wide with awe at the object.
She was already tingling with excitement at the prospect of seeing her hopes and dreams fullfilled...this would be and incredible part of her life!

The night passed quite quickly in her opinion, waking up in her large four poster bed, the colours of red and black washing over her sleep filled eyes before she stretched and dragged her feet out from under the covers.
A sleep groan rumbling out through her mouth before she noticed the orb nestled in what was supposed to be her cats bed, but had been turned into something which she called 'an Orb cradle'.
She smiled happily as she saw the crystal glow brightly in the morning sun and with it's own energy, hypnotised by the almost liquid movement of the purple smoke that dwelled within it.
It was really strange to her, but at the same time was amazingly beautiful and she honestly couldn't believe it was hers!
A giggle went through her as she leaned down and gently picked up the orb, smiling to herself before she lay back on her bed and looked at the peculiar green and purple crystal that had been traded for her nephew.
She still couldn't believe he was gone and she was free.
She let out a sigh as she cradled the orb, looking deep into it before she looked up at the ceiling and the roof of her poster bed.
Her dreams and wishes where inside this orb...so cool...

It was the third day since she'd gotten her orb, nowaday's she'd been having bad nightmares after watching her films and reading her horror stories.
And she wondered how it was affecting the little spirit inside?
She carried the orb with her all the time around the house, this time it sat on her lap, still glowing and being it's round self as she watched a good Peter Jackson classic, Brain Dead.
Smirking slightly as she watched New Zealand actors give a half assed, comedic and extremely gory look at horror films.
Even though it was low bugdet, the girl liked every second of it.
However, as it got to the first climactic scene, she leaned forward and was immediatly shocked into reaity as she her orb roll of her lap and onto the faux-fur polar bear rug.
For once she was thankful her mother had bought the stupid thing.
But one thing she didn't count on...was Tom, the family cat, eyeing the orb like he did so many of his playthings.
Only to watch as the monotoned, overweight tom pounced the crystal and watched it roll off under the sofa in a mad dash for freedom...wait...what?
The girl blinked and watched as the cat was chasing her orb, her orb that was rolling on the floor all by itself!
She blinked once or twice before standing up and chasing after the two.
Finally she grabbed her cat by the scruff, recieving an angry yowl and a scratch for her trouble before watching the feline run off.
She sighed heavily and gently picked up the orb, hand bleeding slightly, she'd have to do something about that later on...but right now she was going to put this somewhere safe.
Looking after this orb was apparently going to be much harder than she first thought.

Another day had passed and the girl had thought more on her precious gift and who this 'Goblin King' was.
As she lay there on her bed, just returned from college, hands placed under her chin as she was propped up on her elbows.
Staring at the orb as it lay on one of the large pillows of her bed, still glowing and being itself...but it had become more mobile since yesterday.
It had started to roll around more and she had to keep it out of harms way more than anything.
A sigh ran through her system and she crossed her arms before laying her head down.
Thinking of way's to keep it out of trouble, before a sharp knock came at her bedroom door.
"Anna?" Came the inquiring voice of her mother, making the girl frown slightly.
"Mom I told you! That's not my name!" She said, despite the fact that it really was her name, she'd decided long ago to stick with her alias, after all, she found it much more original than 'Anna'.
"Oh riiiiiight *ahem* I'm sorry, 'Lightning', I was just wondering if you wanted anything to eat?"
However, at this, the girl paused and then looked down slightly before shaking her head.
"No thanks mom..." She muttered.
"What?"
"I said no thanks mom!"
"Oh...okay...well...if you ever get hungry, there's always food downstairs."
"I love you, mom."
"I love you too, A-...I mean, Lightning." The sound of footsteps going away met the girl's ears and she sighed more so before taking the orb in her hands before cradling it close to her chest.
She hated eating...she hated it ever since those damn diet pills, she hated it all.
As all this happened the orb just glowed gently against her chest, only duller, as if feeling it's mistresses pain.
And this made her feel a little better, bangs of her thick red hair falling over her face as she looked down at the object and smiled weakly.
This wouldn't judge her...no...it wouldn't.
Now...only one question remained...how was she going to keep it from rolling away?

The weekend was FINALLY here!
A half hearted smile was pasted on her face as she tucked into her crappy diet food, all the while staring at the two pills she'd take afterwards, one white and one blue.
She hated having those pills, rolling her eyes slightly as she ate and watched the mindless dreck that was on television.
But she watched all the same.
Her mind wandered towards this Goblin King and her orb, of which her dreams and wishes lay inside.
The swirl of purple mist twirling and dancing inside of it as it lay on the cushion next to her.
...What did the note mean it would turn into a guardian?
If so...what would it's name be? What would it's gender be?
She stopped eating and put her plate aside before taking her pills, all the while staring at the orb.
Before picking it up and staring into it.
What would you be?
As she looked at it, she blinked softly, remembering over her own dreams and the characters she would meet...but one particular stood out as she looked at the crystal.
....
"Kael..." She whispered softly. "...is that your name?" She asked the orb softly, as if expecting it to answer as she looked into the crystal as the smoke twirled inside of it.
She then smiled.
"Kael it is then."
