So, what I want to know is:

Why do Kataangs hate Zutara so much?


I have seen a lot of Kataangers react rather violently, against Zutara but they lack reason. I am not saying that all people wo ship Kataang are this way, because I've met some that were very accepting too, but the thing that puzzles me, is that they frequently go 'EW! GO AWAY, I HATE ZUTARA!!' but they never say why.

I'm not trying to start a shipping war or a flaming thread, in fact I would actually appreciate it, if you as a Zutarian could give me reasons why you think they ship it.
While we're at it, we can discuss the various aspects, I'd love to do that most of all, because I want to see both sides of the story.



oh, and from taking a peek into a "Let's BASH Zutara!!!" thread, what I suspect is that they just dislike Zuko. >_>

I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Kataang is a little more canon than Zutara? Just guessing. Sorry if it sounded like sarcasm, because it wasn't.

EDIT: For those of you who don't think some of the Kataangers aren't mean to the Zutaraians and Taangs, I searched Zutara on photobucket and found a bunch of Zutara bashing images. They weren't really Kataang, just anti-Zutara and anti-Taang. The person who hosted these images was called KataangianElite for those of you who don't believe me.

I can see that they would say that we are searching for the needle in the hay,
but then again, they seem to conviniently forget that it's also canon,
that Guru Pathik says that Aang has to let go. If I'd be cruel, I'd say that that could be taken as an 'official' hint that Kataang will die. :/

Yeah, I was browsing the Kataang guild and noticed a thread for bashing pairings that stand in the way of their ship, so it kinda makes me think that maybe they feel threatened by the possibilty of another ship.

I think most of the people like the fluff and simplicity of the pair. They don't have a lot of obstacles to overcome and they're already great friends, so why not have them get married and have a family? Where as with Zutara, they have a lot of obstacles to over come and they're enemies, so how could they ever stand each other?

Meh. I dunno. I think the series could go either way personally, but after the what the Guru said I'm feeling more confident that it might be Zutara.

Like I probably said before:
I don't really mind that they ship Kataang, and say that it's canon,
but what irks me is that they hate Zutara, and in most of the cases don't/can't explain why.

As you said, I have the suspicion, that they ship Kataang because they are the same age as Aang or Katara, or because it's 'canon'.
But unlike them, we can admit that we are grasping for the stars, desperately looking for hints and clues, eventhough our ship might sink fast. but we don't rub it in their faces.



Now for some discussing:
I think, that the fortuneteller (Aunt Wu) gave a big clue,
"a powerful bender". This could of course be anyone, but definetly not Aang, because then she would have said "the avatar", and she didn't see any romance in his future. But to be fair, we could count in the possibility that they might date or something, but it doesn't last?

sorry to intrude on the conversation, but, there is a plausable reason why Aunt Wu didn't say "the avatar". because usually, most furtunetellers are ambigous and aren't straight to the point.

I'm a zutara fan, even though I just deffended Kataang... gonk


I think the reason why they may zutara is because the majority of A:TLA fans are Zutarians. Though Kataang fans are close behind. Maybe it's a grudge sort of thing?

I think maybe they hate us (More then other shippings) is we pull Katara far away from Aang and uh.. o_o; They feel threatened by Zutara..? Maaaaybeee They Are threatened *shifty eyes*.

I think the only way we can know for sure why kataang shippers hate us, is if we ask why, and not take their silence or their stupidy for an answer.
