Roll call, ladies and gentlemen! Speak up and introduce yourself.
Name: C/Maj Sean Howard Unit/Branch: NC-955, Alpha Flight, Air Force JROTC Nicknames/Aliases: "Sir," "Biggie," "O'Neill," or just "Sean" Age: 16 ASVAB score: Overall - 97 Why I joined: I was in 6th grade homeroom on September 11, 2001. A teacher came in from next door, asking my teacher to turn on the television for an emergency newsflash. We did. When it became apparent that the events occurring in New York were not accidental, and that the United States of America was under attack, I was angry. I later decided that I would do everything in my own power to assure that such an attack could never again be carried out. What better way to realize that dream than to join ROTC in high school.
I am now one of the most gung-ho cadets in our corps. I have served as the armed drill team commander, the color guard commander, and am looking the Operations Support Squadron Commander of a combined two-school unit. I plan to dedicate my life to military service. I am in the process of deciding what I want to do and with which branch I'd like to do it. And no, whatever you say will probably not influence my decision.

Name: C/1LT Jon Barrett Unit/Branch: 3rd Battalion Charlie Company, Army JROTC Nicknames/Aliases: deaf guy Age: 18 ASVAB score: Don't remember Why I joined: I was a freshman in High school when one of my friend was in ROTC, she pressured me to join, so I did, and at first I thought I was going to hate so much, because it is like a "bad children discipline place" but I went ahead and gave it a shot, and I was so wrong I love it so much.
I'm my Company's XO, and I am in the Armed Drill Team, which rocks my world, and I am also in the Honor Guard as well. Thats all I have for now.

Name: Airman 1st Class Brandon Kent Taylor Unit/Branch: VA-051/Airforce JROTC-Alfa Flight Nicknames/Aliases: "Ace", "MC", "Spirit of Icarus", "Marine Commandant", or just "Marine". Age: 19. ASVAB score: N/A. Why I joined: Though I've always been patriotic, such a great since of true loyalty to my country was never instilled in me so deeply untill 9/11 occured.... I was 13 when the terrorists attacked. I came home that day from school, and my mother told me to turn on the news. She had a very distraught look on her face, so I turned on the t.v. quickly.... I still remember seeing the footage of the Twin Towers burning, people panicking, that scene of that couple holding hands as they jumped out of the window.... I was utterly horified by what I saw. In my state of anger and grief for the innocent people who had been killed, I swore from that point on that I would do everything in my power to be an advocate for my country and its armed forces in hopes that my county never again suffered such a great tragedy. Even though I can't be a fighter pilot in the Air Force or an infantryman in the Marine Corps, I still joined the AFJROTC because I wanted to make myself a more disciplined man, to learn more about the United States Military, to gain knowlege of military customs and customs regarding the proper handling of the American flag, to instill a refreshed since of patriotism in myself, and to also prepare myself just in case the draft is ever reinstated and I'm forced to fight. I'd give my life for America if it came to that.... Anything to prevent something like 9/11 from ever happening again.... My friend lost his uncle in that. evil crying

I'm Saber Team Commander at my school. The team is also called Honor Guard. I brought fluid spins to this battalion. Before they moved like robots just doing "UP! ARCH! DOWN! ARCH!" I do spin Saber, double spin Saber, and thrust Saber.

Name: Cdt. PFC Horne Unit/Branch: JROTC 12th Marine Corps District, MCJROTC, 3rd Platoon Nicknames/Aliases: Horne (Pronounced Horn), Thorn, that's pretty much it. Age: 15 Years in Program: THis is the 2nd semester of my 1st one Why I joined: A color gaurd from the High School came to my middle school in 7th grade, and I looked at them, and it kinda grabbed me. I wanted to do that. I wanted to join ROTC and be in COlor gaurd and junk. ANd also, I wanted to see if the Military would be a career choice I should think of considering, or if it wasn't for me, and what's better for that then a military-based program?
I'm the Platoon Guide for my class, for the 2nd time this year, having been elected to this billet by my fellows two days ago. I'm a newly certified Organizational Color Bearer in Color Gaurd.

Name: Cadet Private First Class Beach Unit/Branch: JROTC 12th Marine Corps District, MCJROTC, 3rd Platoon Nicknames/Aliases: N/A Years in Program: Closing in on the end of my first Why I joined: My brother had joined two years before I did to dodge the school's PE requirement (two semesters of ROTC can be substituted for one semester's credit of PE or occupational training). After two years of gradually learning the ropes, I decided to join at my first opportunity, simply because it seemed like an interesting experience (and would be useful to get out of PE for myself sweatdrop ) Since I've been in the class for more than a semester now, I've seen that it's much more than that.

Nope. No rocketry.
Name: Private Irwin (Sad thing is, I was only promoted a month ago...) Unit/Branch: Alpha Company, Army JROTC Nicknames/Aliases: N/A Age: 14 ASVAB score: N/A Why I joined: In the eigth grade, I thought it looked pretty cool. And it is for the most part. And another part of the reason was to get out of PE. One year of JROTC gets you out of gym for your entire high school career. I mostly like it except for PT. And all the kids who get us dropped because they don't stand at attention. But it's not me so this is my only year. But I think it's pretty cool anyway....hmm, I just kinda started rambling...oh well! mrgreen

Name: Private Cardenas Unit/Branch: Charli Company, Army JROTC Nicknames/Aliases: N/A Age: 15 ASVAB score: N/A Why I joined: Well, I always wanted to serve my country and do my duty in the armed forces like my dad did. Except he was in navy but I want a little bit more action and see the world more. And I thought JROTC looked pretty cool being that my cousin went in it at a different school about a 2-3 years ago. So now I'm in it and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
