Sticks is the capital of Anglo, and has long been considered by the English as the capital of all Andel. And it isn't difficult to see why everyone is so proud: it was and truly is a very well-developed city, with any store you can imagine skirting and surrounding the oft-overlooked slums and the most grandiose estates you'll hope to see on the northern outskirts. Apartment buildings and pubs of every quality can be found in the maze of cramped cobblestone roads, and it all surrounds a clock tower that shades the famed Four Seasons Square park in the late afternoon.
There's a bustling port with a great variety of ships (from simple sailboats to modern steamboats) constantly churning to and fro on the eastern end of the city, where the River Sticks empties into the bay. Here one will see the greatest variety of life, from seedy Raidin merchants with poached goods to disgruntled travelling Hayim packrats to the typical droves of sailors unloading this and that. It's an area that has seen plenty of attacks by pirates over the years, but it always bounces back with greater vitality.
To the south and west of the town lies an upper-middle-class housing province that is still recovering from wasteland effects. Many of the houses have become a bit dilapidated, but the wild plants and vegetables taking over those places give this area its own sort of mysterious charm. Some people are beginning to repopulate the area, buying houses and rebuilding them as best they can. A half a day's walk further in this direction is the farming town of Oakdale that gives Sticks its supply of good-quality turnips and apples. Some farms grow other vegetables, but it's most common for them to be imported from other areas. Very close to Oakdale is the River Sticks, used for all the needs that water fulfills.
At the northern end, within the wealthy district of Sticks, is one of the Paraline Express Company's many train stations. The service is superb and the ticket price more affordable than one would expect; it ensures that a traveller can get to another part of Andel within a few short days. It has become an increasingly popular travelling method for Raidin thanks to the recent addition of armadillo to the dinner menu.
