Hi guys, I figured I would hold a contest that lasts for all of next season from Daytona to Homestead. 5k is up for grabs and it's pretty straight forward.

Rules
1: Pick the driver you think will win the upcoming race before the green flag flies to start the race. For example, if you pick Matt Kenseth and he finishes third and scores 165 points for position and 5 bonus points for leading a lap, then you get 170 points for Matt's hard work.
2: Can pick the same driver as many times as you want.
3: No Muels.
4: Should the driver you picked be penalized between races, even though you may have picked someone else for the next race, you lose points for that drivers penalty. For example, if you pick Kurt Busch for the Daytona 500, and Kurt gets a penalty for that race and loses points, then you lose points.
5: If you feel you lost points unfairly for a driver doing something stupid outside the race track, send me a PM and I will consider giving you back the points for that penalty.
6: You may only pick drivers for the upcoming race so you can't give me 36 races worth of picks all at once.
7: I may or may not use the chase format depending on how many people decide to take part in this.
8: Should the chase format be used for this then a 1k bonus will be rewarded for the person to finish 11th.
9: The person with the most points at the end of the season wins 5k.
10: Post your picks in this thread so everyone can see them.
11: Jack Roush is thy god! xd

The contest starts on January first. You may not pick drivers for Daytona before that time. I will also be picking drivers every week in an attempt to defend my gold mu ha ha ha ha!!!

Rules for picking drivers

Ok, since I want this to be as fair as possible and trackable as possible here is what I have decided for choosing drivers for every week.

Driver Selection will start on Tuesdays and end on Saturdays GST (gaia standard time). Should a race happen on a Saturday then Driver Selection will be between Tuesday and Friday.

No two people can pick the same driver. It's first come first serve so if you snooze you lose...or at least finish second. He he he.

Once you pick your driver for the upcoming race, you may not change your pick. If you pick a driver then after a while you change your pick and I catch you, you will be penalized to the fullest extent of my imagination!

Make sure you also say what race your pick is for, otherwise your pick may be ignored!

Example: Jacque Strap- Talladega 500

Note: You are allowed to pick your driver for the first race of the season starting January 1st regardless of what day that happens to fall on. However, choose carefully if you decide to choose a driver that early.

Note: These rules aren't set in stone yet so I might change them throughout the season.

NAMG Chase Format! (August 22, 2007)

This format was decided late in the season by me, Triple Homicide.

The way I chose the format for this year depended much on how many competators we had, and who was competative. The chase rules for the last 10 races will differ from the rest of the season. They are as follows.

1: The top 4 in points will be considered chasers.
2: Chasers can pick the same drivers as non chasers, and vice-versa.
3: Non-chasers cannot pick the same driver as other non-chasers.
4: Chasers cannot pick the same driver as other chasers.
5: A win in the regular season (first 26 races) counts as 10 bonus points towards chase points.
6: The 5th place person in points will recieve a 1k prize.

If you have any questions about the rules, please pm me. I don't bite...much xd

May 19, 2007 Nextel Open and Nextel All-Star Lowes Motor Speedway

Driver Selection between May 16th - May 18th

Ok, here is the rules for the All-Star selection. First make a selection for the winner of the Nextel Open. Then pick 3 drivers for the actual All-Star race. You can pick the same driver you picked in the open but if he doesn't make it, he doesn't help you at all. You can pick the same drivers as other people. When the Nextel Open, and the All-Star is over, I'll take your four finishing positions, average them together, and whoever has the best finishing position gets bragging rights. biggrin

If you have to change your driver because he was not on one of the entry lists, make sure you send me a pm before the Nextel Open starts and if I'm online before the races, I'll make the changes for you.

I will allow people to make driver picks on the 19th as long as I see the picks before the Open starts. I'll try to be online right before the race.

NOTE: Make sure the driver you picked for the Open is actually starting the open. Some of you might want to change some of your Open picks if I'm not mistaken.

Announcements

February 18, 2007

Driver selection for the Daytona 500 is closed. Good luck to everyone who picked a driver and I hope you come back for more next week.

Thanks to Kevin Harvicks victory, Kurokage Sanada has assumed the points lead. Way to pick em Kurokage Sanada 3nodding

February 20, 2007

Driver selection is now open!

February 24, 2007

Driver selection is now closed for this week. Wow. only 6 people this week.

February 25, 2007

Matt Kenseth sweeps at California!!! And that's probably the only time this season that I won't think of picking him!!! *smacks head*

February 28, 2007

Driver selection will open again on March 6th and go til March 10th.

March 11, 2007

Driver selection was over at midnight last night GST. Good luck this week folks.

Looks like Jimmie Johnson brings me 190 reasons to be happy with a threepeat. (I think that's how you spell that)

March 12, 2007

Driver selection this week is from the 13th to the 17th.

March 13, 2007

Go to post 6 for the new "10 questions" in development

March 18, 2007

Looks like Soultrain is the big winner this week. She gets her first win by picking Jimmie Johnson.

March 25, 2007

Kurokage Sanada still holds the points lead but Soultrain and Triple Homicide made up a lot of ground on him. Nobody chose Kyle Busch to win either.

As for the ten questions thing, I don't have time for it these days so if someone wants to make up ten questions and give them to someone else, I will post them.

Harvick
Question:
Are you to have some kind of chase for the cup where you take the top few people and have them be the chasers?

Well as of now I'm not sure yet. There are only 10 people who have points and we're already 5 races into the season and not everyone has made all the starts anyway so I think as it stands I'm just going to use the old Winston Cup system. Might change my mind if we get more competative people but it will have to be soon.

April 5, 2007

Jimmie Johnson beat Jeff Gordon to the line at Martinsville and Ashurii-kun picks up her first win of the season. In the mean time a few other drivers who were selected had some pretty bad luck which hurt their chances in the points.

April 15, 2007

Kurokaga Sanada extended his points lead this week with yet another top 5 while everyone else except for systematic_chaos finished outside the top 10.

April 26, 2007

Triple Homicide managed to make the right guess for Phoenix with Jeff Gordon and scored a lot of points going to Talladega.

April 29, 2007

Once again Triple Homicide gets his third win of the season and takes over the points lead by a small margin. 21 points separate first position from third position.

May 7, 2007

Damn this is a good season. The top three in points are separated by 13 points after 10 races. Soultrain is in first, Triple Homicide (me) is in second, and Kurokage Sanada is in third.

This week at Richmond, Jimmie Johnson took the win. Before the race, Harvick (not Kevin Harvick) wanted to switch his pick from Johnson to Hamlin. Lucky for him I stuck to the rules and he picked up a win in the process.

May 13, 2007

Jeff Gordon takes his seventh win at Darlington and I got my 4th win of the season and thus far, I've been defending my gold effectivly. Even though Kurokage Sanada and Soultrain had a bad race, they're still within striking distance of my lead. Check the announcements for the next day or two to see if I thought of anything to do for the All-Star.

May 16, 2007

Ok everyone, the rules for the Nextel Open and All-Star are posted in the driver selection board.

May 20, 2007

After all the wreckin' and racin' at Lowes last night for the All-Star, Kurokage Sanada took the win with an average finish of 6th. Soultrain was a close second with an average finish of 6.75. In the end, Kurokage Sanada has the bragging rights until next year xd

May 28, 2007

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that was a wild finish last night. Casey Mears picked up his first Nextel Cup win, Kyle Petty had his best finish in 10 years, and nobody in the guild scored a top 7! Well, next week is Dover, but I guess this week has tought us to expect the unexpected.

June 2, 2007

I will not be here for the next couple of weeks until June 22nd because I'm going away for armed forces training. Operations of this thread will be temporarily turned over to Soultrain until I come back. To ensure I still have a chance to defend my gold, on the last day of driver selection for the races that I will miss, my picks will be the highest positioned drivers in driver points who have not been selected by one of you. For example if Jeff Gordon is first, Jimmie Johnson is second, and Matt Kenseth is in third, and people have already selected Gordon and Kenseth for that week, my pick would be Johnson. If anyone has a question, send me a PM and I'll do my best to get back to you before I leave tomorrow.

June 19, 2007

I'm baaaaaack! All be it a few days early. Meh. Thanks to Soultrain for keeping up with the thread while I was gone!

June 27, 2007

Well we have our first two penalties of this year. Me and Soultrain picked Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson for the race at Sonoma and lost 100 points each for violations found on our drivers cars.

24 (Jeff Gordon) and 48 (Jimmie Johnson) penalties

Our imaginary crew chiefs will also be suspended for 6 races so we will have to hire imaginary intern crew chiefs xd

Due to the penalties, Kurokage Sanada will once again take the point lead.

In other news, I'm taking suggestions for how we should run the last 10 races of the season, meaning should we use a chase format, and if we should which format, or should we just make up our own format. If you have any suggestions for running the last 10 races, just send me a PM and I'll weigh the options and choose a format.

I'm gonne be honest with you. I think the top 5 in points at this point have been most competative so if we were to do a chase format, I would probably only allow the top 5 into the chase. But, that's just an idea. I'm interested in everyone elses feedback because I want this to be as fair as possible. So don't hesitate to send me a PM.

July 3, 2007

The 10 questions post has been updated.

July 30, 2007

Tony Stewart won the Indianapolis 400. The one who picked him was Kurokage Sanada. Or did he? According to the rules, driver selection was between the 24th and the 28th. Kurokage Sanada's pick was just barely before the 24th so I didn't record his pick of Tony Stewart for this week. But, seeing as nobody else noticed this and picked Tony Stewart for themselves, I will allow Kurokage to keep his points and win because I think this was simply an honest mistake. Just a note for the future, when you make your pick each week and you're not sure if you're within the driver selection peroid, check your post time. Otherwise, someone might take your driver or I might not award you the points.

July 31, 2007

Kurokage Sanada will lose 25 points for Tony Stewart's foul language after the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

Tony Stewart's fine/penalty linky

August 5th, 2007

In a suprising turn of events, Kurokage Sanada missed his first start of the season and lost the points lead after Pocono. This gives me the points lead again.

On another note, nobody has come to me with ideas about the NAMG chase so I'll probably come up with something within the next week or so.

August 22, 2007

The NAMG Chase Format has been decided!!! Read the bottom of the first post to get the rules.

NAMG 10 Questions

Rules: Every week or two, someone can ask someone else in the guild 10 questions. All you have to do is ask them if this person wants to answer the questions, and if they say yes, send the questions to them and tell them to send them back to you with answers. If someone answers questions, it's up to them wither or not they want to ask someone else questions. Otherwise they can pass and let the person who asked them questions, ask someone else. If you're crew, you can just add your segment to this post. If you're not crew, then just send the questions to me and I'll post them myself.

With Triple Homicide and Kurokage Sanada

Q1 - Triple Homicide: How long have you been into racing?

A1 - Kurokage Sanada: For a few years now, I used to follow Ernie Irvan back when I was a little kid but was never really into it until 2004 when I followed Bobby Labonte.

Q2 - Triple Homicide: Have you ever raced in any type of series?

A2 - Kurokage Sanada: I have never raced in any type of real-life series.

Q3 - Triple Homicide: What's your favorite racing game?

A3 - Kurokage Sanada: My favorite racing game is either Dirt to Daytona, NASCAR 2003, or Toca Race Driver 3, I do like Forza also.

Q4 - Triple Homicide: As of now you lead the points. What's your take on that? Suprised?

A4 - Kurokage Sanada: I'm not too suprised, I expected to do good. I believe I'm good at predicting who will win a race or not.

Q5 - Triple Homicide: What is the weirdest thing you've ever done?

A5 - Kurokage Sanada: Sword fight in the middle of my town with my friends 3 years ago? I do a lot of wierd things but that one comes to mind first.

Q6 - Triple Homicide: Have you ever eaten anything crazy? Like spagetti and jam?

A6 - Kurokage Sanada: No, I'm a picky eater.

Q7 - Triple Homicide: Have you ever been in an accident?

A7 - Kurokage Sanada: Not yet.

Q8 - Triple Homicide: We all know you bought a new car reacently. Have you had a chance to "see what it can do"?

A8 - Kurokage Sanada: It's a nice car, every night when I leave Arby's(my work) I peel out and do a burnout. I've been told by other employees I do good burnouts, and that's with my traction control on. I haven't gotten the car past 60 yet though, but it does keep up with new Ford Mustangs, I've done it.

Q9 - Triple Homicide: How would you describe your driving style?

A9 - Kurokage Sanada: Not that bad, I need to drive around a little more, I don't turn as well as I'd like to. I have to much of a lead foot, I'd like to be able to conserve fuel better.

Q10 - Triple Homicide: If you could trade places with any famous/well known person, who would it be and why?

A10 - Kurokage Sanada: Probably Jeff Burton, because he's my favorite driver and I'd like to see what I'd amount to in a NASCAR.

August 25, 2007

With Triple Homicide and Ashurii-Kun.

Q1 - Triple Homicide: How long have you been into NASCAR?

A1 - Ashurii-Kun: I would watch it off and on when I was younger but I've been into it as a full fledged fan for about 6 years now.

Q2 - Triple Homicide: Have you ever had a job?

A2 - Ashurii-Kun: Nope, not yet.

Q3 - Triple Homicide: Do you have a drivers licence?

A3 - Ashurii-Kun: Not yet. I have my learners right now...so I'm in the process of getting my license.

Q4 - Triple Homicide: Do any sports aside from NASCAR show up on your radar?

A4 - Ashurii-Kun: Hockey and Football. Also, IRL is the other racing series I'm into.

Q5 - Triple Homicide: See any good movies lately? Bad movies?

A5 - Ashurii-Kun: I haven't seen any movies recently.

Q6 - Triple Homicide: Country, pop, rock, rap, anything?

A6 - Ashurii-Kun: I like all kinds of music. From Rock to Techno. Pretty much anything.

Q7 - Triple Homicide: Who's your favorite driver?

A7 - Ashurii-Kun: Kasey Kahne. I've liked him since I first saw him race in the Busch series.

Q8 - Triple Homicide: As we run in points, your knocking on the door of the last chase spot. What's your feelings towards that? Do you think you can make it?

A8 - Ashurii-Kun: I will be great if I get in, If I don't I won't be too disappointed. I think I have a pretty good chance to get in to the chase though.

Q9 - Triple Homicide: Who's your pick for the championship this year?

A9 - Ashurii-Kun: Tony Stewart. I really want to see Smoke get his third championship.

Q10 - Triple Homicide: If you could trade places with any famous/well known person, who would it be and why?

A10 - Ashurii-Kun: I'd probably say a famous graphic designer like Chip Kidd because I think it would be interesting to dabble in the profession I want to pursue.
