1. Fae are evil-most are not, they are simply mischievous with no understanding of human pain or death.
2. Cold Iron can hurt/kill/bind Fae- Fae are bound by their true name, if you figure out their true name they are basically your slave. Iron cannot hurt many Fae, some it can, but not many, and especially not Earth Fae.
3. Fae only come in four varieties; Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.- Fae gain elements with age and time, they build what’s known as elemental bonds and can become quite powerful and hold many elements, including but not limited to the main four.
4. Fae leave changelings to steal away a baby.-Close. Fae leave changelings to leave a Fae in it’s place disguised as the child. Often this is to have the changeling healed if it is hurt or hidden if it is perused. Occasionally they will leave a changeling to learn something about the human ‘host’ family and later they will switch back so that the changeling can report to it’s superior. Most changelings are under the command of a court and cannot perform the glimory that causes it to appear to be the human baby by themselves. Although it should be noted that occasionally an upper Fae will find an especially fair child to be ‘to their liking’ and decide to steal it away for a time or indefinitely-in which case the changeling will be stripped of it’s memory and not know it was a Fae and left for the humans. (This is where we get some of the people of ‘Other kin’ )
5. Fae are free do what they please when they please to do so- Most* Fae are actually bound to a court. There are two Fae courts one dark and one light (DO NOT confuse the dark and light with good and bad, for this is not the case, and can be very confusing to someone that mixes the two. These two courts are the Unseelie court and the Seelie court.
6. The Seelie court is light; that makes it good, the Unseelie court is dark; that makes it bad- Not necessarily. The courts are more like our Democratic and Republican parties in America. They both have issues and ‘answers’ to those issues, but neither is strictly good or bad (lets stay out of politics lol). The Unseelie court is more of an ‘anti-Seelie court’ and tries to be the opposite in most cases.
*Some Fae are free from both courts, but every so often they must give a sacrifice of one of their own to whichever court is the current ‘ruler’ of the land they live upon. This sacrifice is called the Tithe.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
A tithe (from Old English teogoþa "tenth") is a one-tenth part of something, paid as a (usually) voluntary contribution or as a tax or levy, usually to support a Jewish or Christian religious organization. Today, tithes (or tithing) are normally voluntary and paid in cash, checks, or stocks, whereas historically tithes could be paid in kind, such as agricultural products. Several European countries operate a formal process linked to the tax system allowing some churches to assess tithes.
