Gaston was originally born in 1781 in Colonial New Orleans. He comes from a rich plantation owning family that got too snooty for their own good in his opinion. Frequently going off on his own into the seedier parts of the city, Gaston became an independent Lone Ranger type, helping the less fortunate who couldn't otherwise help themselves. Unfortunately, he bit off a little more than he could chew and was killed in a duel with a number of thugs while trying to protect a serving maid on her way home from their rather unwanted affections. Of course, this triggered his Immortality and the Highlander of the Bayou was born. His mentor is Methos, currently the oldest of the Immortals, and Methos continues to be something of a bad influence. In his many lifetimes, Gaston has been a card shark, a Samurai, a fighter pilot in several different wars, a race car driver, and even an Apollo astronaut. For the past several years, Gaston had been employed by the secretive organization known as Balance Incorporated. As a special agent, Marceau frequently ran afoul of a cult of mortals and Immortals worshipping the demon Ahriman. After the most recent and bloody clash between Ahriman's Cult and Balance, Gaston was 'retired' as a special agent, the company helping him establish a new identity on the Northwest coast as an independent Cargo and Passenger pilot.

Etienne is a relatively wealthy man, being tangentially related to the McIlhenny family of Avery Island, Louisiana. This family is the founder and current owner of the Tabasco Pepper Sauce business known throughout the world. Etienne's share of the family fortune is finite, however, since his relation is through marriage...though it is substantial enough for Etienne to live as a slightly eccentric millionaire.

He lives aboard an antique sloop named the 'Sandra.' Like many restored tall ships, the vessel is equipped with a deisel propeller engine, but is fully capable of sailing under its own power when properly crewed. He has all three of the sixty one foot decks to himself, so Etienne has essentially 3600 square feet of living space. Etienne has been known to occasionally go on the odd sailing excursion, though much of the time, the Sandra can be found moored at the Seacouver marina.



Etienne doesn't have a car, but he is frequently seen cruising up the streets of Seacouver on a brand new 2010 Harley Davidson CVO Ultra Action. It's a bit on the flashy side, but it's fun.
