In one episode (Don't remember the name) when Nana is fighting Mariko Nana like hits Mariko in the head with her vectors and Mariko can't use them anymore. Is there more to this or did I miss something?

It was because of pain wasnt it? That was why Lucy was so defenceless when fighting Mariko because she snapped her... I wont ruin it just in case... but pain inhibits their vector control right? Thats what I thought it was anyway.

Its true...When a Diclonious is in immense pain they can't use there vectors because they have trouble concentrating...

Onto my point...
It was explain that Diclonious cannot use their vectors in a stat of pain. Yes. Why?
Nariko Answers: Vectors are a form of telekenesis. Correct? They can't concentrate if they're in pain, thus, breaking their concentration, and focusing more on the pain.
Now...ONTO NEXT QUESTION~! WHOOHOO!

Oh-ho! Nana did the same to Lucy! *dramatic music*
Now...how is Nana able to do this? Is she special?
Nariko Answers: Actually, no. Vectors are controlled by the brainwaves of 'telekenetic power'. Nana used her vector to 'disable'. Sometimes the front of the head is fairly senstive to the back. But since the telekenesis is being controlled through the brain, Nana used her vector, going through into Nana and Lucy's brain, and 'turning off' that side, just for a while.
No basically it's not immense pain. It's just a disability of the brain. It's just like paralysis. Or the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
The right controls the left of your hand. The left controls the right of your hand.
So you can think of it as...humm...the 'front of the brain' controlling 'the back...of your back!' [Note: Since the vectors come out from the back... mrgreen ]
So it's basically there's two ways of disabiling vectors.
1 - Pain. Pain causes them to become distracted.
2 - Disability/Paralysis of the brain. If you remember episode 4 when Lucy notes that she can kill Nana by destroying a vein in her brain...that MAY give an idea to you.
That is the end of Nariko's session about...that!

Nana disrupts the pineal gland of the brain, the one that affects the powers of the diclonii. That is how she actually does it.
Diclonius have an enlarged pineal gland, (said somewhere in the beginning of both the anime and manga), which is one of the things that affects their bodies and gives them their telekinetic ability.
