Ok this was requested i will share some of my beliefs. In gnosticism we believe the more knowledge you gain the closer you can get to the divine instead of follow 1 path follow 3 to prove you are right.

We believe the God in the old testament was the demiurge. We believe in the father the mother and the holy spirit. Some gnostics believe jesus was just a prophet not the messiah, others believe he was the messiah.

I believe he was the messiah. We believe in Sophia being the creator of the universe. She shared her powers to others lost those powers then regained them with the help of an angel.

I haven't read gnosticism in a while but going to buy a actual book on it to keep with me at all times to keep my memory fresh.

Wow that is so interesting, thank you for sharing about Gnosticism. I absolutely agree that Jesus is the Messiah who came to save us from our sin and reconcile us to God.

Although I actually find it challenging to reconcile some of the beliefs you stated with those of Christianity. I hope you don't mind if I list my thoughts, I am curious to get your take on them. ^^

Scripture, which is the revelation of God, tells us that Jesus alone is the One who brings us into relationship with God. (I believe I mentioned in another post that He is The Way, The Truth, The Life.) So while knowledge is important, knowing Jesus, who is Truth is how we become adopted sons and daughters into the family of God. The Bible actually tells us that when we repent in believe in Jesus we become a new creation right then!
2 Corinthians 5:17-19
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Ephesians 1:5-14
In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He set forth in Him, 10 regarding His plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. 11 In Him we also have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things in accordance with the plan of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in the Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of the promise, 14 who is a first installment of our inheritance, in regard to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

So when we are in Christ we are already close to God. We don't have to continually strive to be accepted. But we do desire to learn more of Him, and do works that are pleasing to God, out of the loving relationship we have with Him already. heart

The Bible also tells us that it is Jesus who created the universe.
Colossians 1:15-17
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: 16 for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

So I guess my question is, how do you reconcile these things?

Well when Jesus was on earth preaching about a loving God i don't believe he was talking about God of the old testament i believe he was talking about Sophia. I believe Jesus and Sophia are one of the same. My god sophia has no wrath no hate in fact she has love for even the bad.

That's an interesting view, where does the lore for Sophia come from? I ask because I've never seen Jesus talk about Sophia in the Bible.
Jesus does talk a lot about the Father though! That's who Jesus actually says He is one with in the gospel of John:

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.”

I also want to pull in what you said from the Prayer thread so I can respond to it here as well:
KousokuNoOni
My relationship with Jesus has always been very good. My relationship to God of the old testament nonexistent.

Jesus says in John 14:
John 14:7
7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

So if you know Jesus, you actually do have a relationship with the Father, "the God of the Old Testament," as it were. They share the same divine nature and character. And it was the Father who sent Jesus to live, die, and resurrect so that God could bind Himself to humanity forever. Which I think is such a beautiful demonstration of His deep love for us. heart

Because even though we made ourselves to be enemies with God, the Father doesn't desire for the wicked to perish either:
Ezekiel 33:11
11 Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘I take no pleasure at all in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live.

In fact, that is why Jesus has not come back yet in judgement, so that more would come to know the Lord and be saved. heart

What are your thoughts about those scriptures of what Jesus said about who He is, and about being One with the Father?

What are your thoughts about those scriptures of what Jesus said about who He is, and about being One with the Father?
Jesus talks about a loving God that loves all it doesn't sound like the old testament that i'm hearing from Jesus. It sounds like he is talking about a totally different God.

When i read Gnosticism and learned about Sophia she had the personality traits Jesus was talking about. Like love for all. Heck Sophia even lost her powers because she was so loving & shared them with another then got them back with some help from a angel because the one she gave her powers to didn't deserve it.

Sharing powers with evil is very dangerous business makes it very difficult to get them back.

When i read the old testament i see a God of wrath, prideful. Heck he even frowns upon others beliefs like other Gods. Sophia accepts all. Heck i haven't even read about a hell in Gnosticism.

But hey if you believe in it more power to you. Me i don't believe in the old testament God and i feel closer then i ever been to Jesus. If you want we can have a bible study you can refresh my memory on this God you are talking about and i can start a bible study on Gnosticism if we don't agree ok but who knows maybe we both will learn something from it.

Gnosticism talks about the connection to the words Jesus speaks of and how it relates to Sophia.
