Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn't the first time they've appeared in Destiny City, but no one's been able to tell where they came from or where they're going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Was it something for Pride month? Was this a publicity stunt from the city? There was the whole Star Festival going on, and really, she wouldn’t have put it past them, the lovely Violet Star Charm she had picked up today was adorable, not that she would tell anyone that she thought so, and if she were being honest, she wanted to collect all of them, and maybe she would.
There was the feeling of another aura coming closer and–that was good. She could make sure that the fireflies weren’t just her imagination.
“Hello.” Trier’s eyes roamed over the girl who walked up and she gave a small nod of approval. “Nice outfit.”

Halley had gotten an amber star charm from somewhere near the ice cream parlor she'd passed by. Having heard about the fireflies and their strange colors she wanted to check them out and see what was going on with them.
The senshi of superstition was always looking for possible paranormal stories she could cover on her blog though she was pretty sure this didn't count. Fireflies being odd colors weren't quite the normal issue. When she noticed another aura and heard the greeting she grinned, "Thanks! I like yours as well!"
There was a moment as she paused looking towards the colorful insects, "Have you seen anything like these before?" She asked nodding towards the rainbow fireflies.

“Not anything as…innocent as these seem, no. Wind and Snow wolves, yes…but these?”
Trier reached out slowly, hoping to entice one of the glowing purple fireflies to land on her finger and then–”Ouch.” The hand was jerked away and Trier sighed, an annoyed expression crossing her features as she turned her full attention to the Senshi. “Don’t touch them. They sting. Or bite. Shock? Whatever. Just don’t touch them, I suppose. I’m not surprised that something beautiful in this city is dangerous. It just figures.”
Because why would Destiny City have nice things?
“I’m Trier. Squire of Saturn.”

Halley nodded when the other said not as innocent as the fireflies seem. "Yeah, I've seen orbs that only show up on camera in an underground graveyard thing that shows up around Halloween."
The senshi of superstition seemed curious as Trier reached out to try and get one of the fireflies to land on their hand and blinked when Trier jerked her hand away from the bug. "Interesting."
Halley was looking at the bugs and tried to get closer without getting so close she'd get shocked, "They're so curious different colors, you said shock? So like if it was a pokemon it'd be an electric type?"
Halley pulled her attention away form the bug, "I'm Halley, senshi of superstition!" She said with a grin, "Nice to meet you Trier."

“I…guess they would. Some electric bug combo.” Pokemon. That was something she hadn’t really thought of in a while but…huh. Maybe she would look for one of her old games when she got home. It couldn’t hurt to unwind with a little fun.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Halley. I’m not sure why this city is so cursed. At least it feels cursed. That’s the best way I can think of to describe it. At least these are pretty. And if you don’t try to get too close they’re harmless. I’ll take that over something threatening any day. How long have you been involved in this madness?”
Because, that was the best word for it. Utter madness.

Halley nodded when she seemed to think as she watched the colorful fireflies dance around. "Yeah there's a few other electric bugs I think Chargabug is my favorite since in the anime they do races with the bugs."
There was a moment as Halley considered if the city was cursed, "I guess it depends on how you look at it, it's a bit magical even in it's cursed nature."
The senshi of superstition chuckled a bit and then paused counting on her fingers, "Well .... I was awakened in twenty fourteen, so I want to say that it's been almost twelve years."
There was a pause, "Geeze, I'm old huh?" There was a laugh, "I don't think I've kept an actual job that long -- well probably haven't because I was a student at Crystal when I was awakened."

Twelve years? She had been involved in this for twelve years. “This has all been going on that long? And like. Nobody’s realized? That’s insane.” She had figured that maybe…a few years, no more than five. That…how stupid were the people in this city? Though. To be fair she hadn’t really noticed until she became aware of…all of this.
But.
“I’m surprised you’ve survived so long. That’s impressive.”
At least, it felt impressive to Trier. She wasn’t really sure what else to say , if she were being honest. “I guess…it’s been about a full year for me now that I’m thinking about it…huh.”

Halley laughed a bit, "Yeah it's been going on probably longer. I mean they use to call it organized crime, gangs. I mean they use every cover up story in the books."
There was a shoulder roll, "I mean honestly I think they've stopped caring. It's nothing they can stop, and it just keeps going. She watched a purple firefly as it floated around her.
Halley paused and wobbled her head from side to side, "Yeah, I mean a lot of survival is just not getting your starseed yanked. It almost seems less common now a days to hear about finding someone unconscious and they never wake up. Maybe they found a better way?"
She looked at Trier and gave a soft nod, "A year isn't bad. I still need to go to my homeworld." She said after a moment thinking, "I've spent more time exploring possible haunted houses and investigating paranormal claims than trying to go up to space." Halley gave a chuckle, "I should probably go eventually."
