◊ INTUITIVEAfon wouldn’t call it “all knowing” or something like that, but he’s had these little feelings as long as he could remember. And these feelings have never led him astray; from knowing which dumpster is the best to dive, which store officer is most likely to chase, and even knowing if it was going to rain on a perfectly sunny day. It’s not foolproof but it’s handy. ◊ DISPUTATIOUSIf something’s off, he’s going to mention it whether it’s right to or not. Especially if it’s not. He can’t stand for things to happen or people to do or say certain stuff and not face consequences. And if these consequences came in the form of a foot to a backside or dead flies in your teapot, then it is what it is. ◊ CONFIDANTHe can’t stand being wishy washy on any subject matter. If he’s put his mind to something he’ll stick with it even if it turns out to be the wrong thing. At least he’ll have learned something. ◊ PRIVATEAfon could be smiling in your face with a joke on his tongue and be feeling miserable and he’d never let anyone know. His personal feelings were just that, personal. It wouldn’t be fair to burden them on someone else. ◊ IRASCIBLEIt takes allot to get him going but once he’s gone he might as well be in outer space. ‘Fiery’ doesn’t completely explain the depths his anger could go. ‘Volcanic’ or ‘nuclear’ come in as a solid close second. The only hope of calming him down is usually just getting out of his way. ◊ APPRECIATIVEFor all his argumentative and angered ways, Afon is genuinely appreciative of what he has or gets to experience. Honestly, its the appreciation he has for that he holds dear that usually throws him on the side of being a tad defensive. Sort of like a hoarding dragon.

CHILDHOODAfon was born into a cult which masqueraded itself as a conservative whole family Christian Catholic faith. He never directly knew who his parents were as all children were taken from them after weaning and essentially placed with a rotation of minders. Afon, despite his name meaning heavenly, was often seen as a problem child since day one. According to the midwife he’d been born wrong under a cursed moon alignment and backwards (the fact he nearly had his cord wrapped around his neck was surely his fault. surely). He was given his name in the hopes that it would cancel out his traumatic birth but apparently it was to no avail. Afon can’t really tell you what it was-at first-he did to catch their ire, but as the years passed and he noticed that everything he did was painted with a poisonous brush that he just gave up and gave in. Of all the beatings and punishments he was given, the worst came after each time he did something unexplainable. He kept a candle from falling by levitation? He was left to kneel in uncooked rice until his confessions were believed. Once in an argument with another child he told them to shut up and their voice had gone for three days. Lashed and locked inside confessionale as a priest attempted an exorcism. For close to ten years he took it all, his only solace in life being his little brother Lyric whom they all regarded as his “handler” of sorts. Whatever, they left them alone and that’s all that mattered. Until one day he noticed his brother could make the flowers in their garden dance and once mended a torn sweater in nearly an instant, sans needle. Afon knew what could happen, what would happen, if he left it, and so he planned an escape. At a perfect time as well. Their cult home was raided due to unpaid taxes and squatting (apparently the dilapidated church they had dedicated all their teachings in actually belonged to a parish who had no idea people were still living there). In the chaos of authorities and children’s services, Afon grabbed Lyric and their few things and made a run for it. For a while it was good, fun even, to not have someone constantly discipling and yelling at them for minute things. The food sucked for obvious reasons but he figured eating slightly off food twice a day was better than eating nothing. Unfortunately they got caught, Afon in particular attempting to nick cough syrup and alerting nearly the entire pharmacy, and they were taken in before being deposited at Wool’s. Hilariously enough, he was only there a fair few months before someone came by calling him a wizard. He doesn’t know how to feel knowing now that all his previous doings were normal and natural so he just doesn’t think about it.
SCHOOL YEARS
◊ FIRST YEARAfon came to Hogwarts and nearly jumped ship seeing a giant castle but once past the shock of that (and a talking hat good grief) he had to say, the place wasn’t half bad. After being sorted into Slytherin he found his place relatively easy. If he kept a quick grin and threw around a dumb joke here or there, no one noticed their bags were a few items lighter or their wallets missing bills or coins (finding out about galleons nearly sent him spiraling he’d hummed Ducktales for three hours straight to his brother’s dismay). During winter break he put everything together and once he got Lyric on board, managed to slip away from the orphanage. Now that he had a wand, he had a whole new world to disappear into and it was great! They were unlucky however and got caught up in a bad snow storm while hanging around Knockturn Alley. His luck turned around though when someone found them and rather forcefully bodied them up and warmed them in their club. It’d been weird and Afon was far from trusting but the adult-Eula-was apparently used to this. By the time the club officially closed, she (they?) gave them some food to take and a blanket each and just watched them go. Just like that. Huh. Afon didn’t really map out everything well, so about a day before he was due back at Hogwarts, he and Lyric snuck back to Wool’s. He’d get it eventually. ◊ SECOND YEARSummer was a much easier time to run away and even though he didn’t fully agree, he followed his brother’s plan and went back to that club. They waited out for hours until it opened then tried to sneak in, failing spectacularly (the creepy door guy was good). Thankfully though, Eula remembered them and let them in. She seemed surprised and actually happy to see them, giving more food and even showing them around. It was nice. They did this the entire summer and when it came for him to return to school, Afon tried to barter a way for Lyric to stay but to no need, Eula said they were more than happy to keep him. Afon returned to school, tried out for quidditch, and was essentially a normal student for once. It felt weird. During breaks, he went back to the club and somehow…he has a room now? Like he said, weird. ◊ THIRD YEARThis year Lyric finally joined him at the school and funnily enough also in Slytherin. He'd been so sure the kid would be in Ravenclaw but he supposed it wasn't terrible that they were together again. He's starting to notice some of his year mates being...friendly with him. Which before would've just meant lunch but now, it was weird. One gave him some knitted ear cuffs?? Just. Odd. Oh, and he joined Quidditch. Definitely worth the concussions. ◊ FOURTH YEARSchool was still boring, people were still weird (weirder since he joined the quidditch team and a club) Like ok, he wasn't actively trying to pickpocket anymore, but he could! (So ok, it wasn't....terrible to be invited to study, or compliment his last game, and the ear cuffs were really comfy...butlikehellhewasgonnaadmitanyofthat) ◊ FIFTH YEARSchool was...schooling? Afon pretty much spent the year in a haze of studying for his OWL's, practicing for Quidditch, and patrolling because the Heads have a horrible sense of humor. Obvi. ◊ SIXTH YEARThis year was a bit odd for Afon, mostly due to the fact that he had to hide a secret from Lyric for the first time in a very long time. Honestly, if he wasn't such a wuss he might've told his younger brother but meh, self introspection was for therapy and he ain't on anyones couch yet. He had Su teach him how to crotchet since he thought it'd be easier than knitting and he could make the things he planned a bit easier. It was still a s**t ton of failure but Su was a unsurprisingly patient teacher, even though he was taking them away from fun times with their friends and such. He'd felt so bad about it that he'd actually sent Lewis in particular some new paintbrushes since he'd technically kept stealing his prefect partner. Luckily all the practice worked out and he would be able to surprise Lyric on his birthday with a sweater with all those weird droopy flowers he liked. Also homework ******** sucks, thanks for asking. ◊ SEVENTH YEARIt was a weird year knowing that this was the end of everything, but Afon was more than happy to get it all over with. Between studying, patrols, and being roped into trying to get Lewis to sleep once in a blue moon, he was wiped. But as soon as he heard those special words "congrats graduates" he could lie and say it was all worth it in the end but really he felt like taking a victory lap in the lake and promised to never set foot back at the castle except under serious threat.
POST GRADUATIONAfter graduation, it took Afon a few weeks to really figure out what it was he wanted to do. Eula was pretty helpful int hat whatever he started with didn't have to be what he ended with which sorta helped his stressing. Ultimately, he took a chance and applied as a hit wizard and was astonishingly accepted. The training is pretty brutal (for probably good reasons) and his new schedule was a bit weird but he can honestly say he doesn't mind the work. He's also been somehow accepted into Su's weird little friend group and is constantly being dragged back to their flat for "family time" or whatever that is. It doesn't suck as much as he originally thought but he'd never telll those weirdos that.

◊ MELLOWLyric likes when everything and everyone is calm cool and collected. He doesn’t see anything good from being too much of anything-too angry people are wary too happy and people might discourage- so he tries to find a nice happy balance. Emphasis on “try”. ◊ SHREWDA benefit of fading into the background is that he’s almost always able to look at things from every angle. He’s not one to take things and face value and is always looking to see the bigger picture. ◊ LOQUACIOUSLyric enjoys talking, even if no one is around to hear him. Talking to himself helped allot when he was younger and now he’ll sometimes just start speaking about what he’d learned that day, a random thing/fact he’d just remembered, a dream he’d had, basically anything. ◊ HYPERCAUTIOUSWith his shrewdness comes an excess of caution. Everything and everyone is not always good or helpful and will certainly not always have your best interest at heart. Sometimes you find good ones, but those are rare and you have to dig through all the bad ones first. He doesn’t like to offer anything particularly personal upfront until he’s been proven the person is trustworthy. ◊ SELF-CONSCIOUSWith his rather sheltered and chaotic upbringing, Lyric doesn’t have the best self image. He’s trying but it’s a work in progress. He doesn’t like bringing attention to himself and will always push the focus on others if it is. ◊ GENUINELyric is an honest and genuine person about everything. If he doesn’t trust you, he’ll tell. If he does, he’ll tell you. He doesn’t see the point of wasting energy in lying or pretending, it’ll just hurt people’s feelings in the long run. Plus it just means that if he likes and trusts you, he really really does.

CHILDHOODLyric was born into the cult/church Plant digon Crist, or the Plentiful Children of Christ. Like his brother, he too didn’t know his birth parents and spent his days not in lessons or sermons doing chores of some kind. His favorite usually being to tend to the garden because it was so small he could talk all he wanted and no one would scold him or complain that he’s too happy. If he wasn’t in trouble, he’d bring Afon with him and they could spend time with one another as well. When he himself wasn’t in trouble for something miniscule, he was actually being praised for his neutral and unbothered condition having acquired the idea that if he acted like it didn’t bother him then eventually it wouldn’t. His brother hated that he did it but he argued it was allot easier than being angry and in trouble all the time. His excessive talking was usually met with a few ear cuffs and the occasional smacked wrist but after a rather explosive debate about the merits of the New Testament he was introduced to a new form of punishment: solitary. He hated it. He was placed in the rotting shed by the garden with no heat or air con and only given water as to fast. What made this particularly horrid for him was that he could still see out the windows to the outside and people could see him but would choose to look away and not speak to him. Other than Afon that is. Lyric developed the coping skill of whispering to himself just to have something to do and even a semblance of sound. He was generally let out after two sometimes three days and would spend the week recovering so he couldn’t even eat the small meals he was given without getting sick. When Afon told him they were running away he was ecstatic but horribly afraid that they’d get caught and have to endure even worse than they have. It seemed luck was finally on their side and they managed to escape during the raid. While Afon did his pickpocketing and shoplifting, Lyric would recite poetry or hymns he’d been forced to memorize as a form of busking. It didn’t make him a whole lot of money but some which is always nice. He felt guilty though that it was his stupid cold that got them caught and sent to Wool’s. While nice to have a bed and almost enforced meal times, it felt weird being around so many people again. When would they eventually turn? Some of the kids were already pointing out how weird he talked, how annoying he was when he whispered to himself or just in general. He was in tears and beside himself when Afon eventually left for his new school-a magical one!-leaving him behind. The cult never had formal schooling so he was behind and advanced in various odd subjects. Reading and writing he was beyond his peers, math he was slightly below average, history and geography he was abysmal. As much as he enjoyed learning and the library, he hated school. Between the remedial lessons, the kids, the whispers, the looks, the uncertainty, Lyric had been a puddle of nerves and all too happy to leave when his brother returned and gave the option. He only wished they’d had a better plan but it ultimately worked out with them meeting Eula and the other “ladies” at the club. The place was loud and colorful but no one was looking at them. And Miss Eula was nice, and not the pushy nice that some of the adults had been with him but actually nice. They never made him talk about anything he didn’t want to, had so many books they didn’t mind him touching or reading, they never yelled (at them), and they were just. Nice. The second time they ran away Lyric immediately decided that they go back and Eula never seemed as though she was tired of them. They even let them stay when Afon went back for his second year! During then, Lyric also got a letter-sent to the club hilariously-with an offer for a governor to show him around but he declined. Eula actually took a day off and showed him everything, bought him (and Afon he noticed eagerly) some new school clothes and robes, some books (he tried to argue to use theirs but they argued they were over a decade out of date so while he could use them to study they were getting new books point blank period) and most importantly his wand. As the new year steadily came, Eula kept surprising him with their patience and kindness to the point Lyric didn’t even blink when offered a bedroom for him and his brother. He was actually going to miss them.
SCHOOL YEARS
◊ FIRST YEARThere was just so much to take in. First he got sorted into Slythierin with Afon, which was great since he'd been more than nervous about being without him. (The older teen acted like it bothered him but he was sure he saw him smile the turd). He even made friends! Sort of! He knows they're friends with each other but he's not so sure they actually like him or not but they haven't pushed him away so he'll take it. Classes took some getting used to since the last time he was in a classroom...it's been awhile is all. But this is fine! So far so good! ◊ SECOND YEARSchool could get repetitive but Lyric found he didn't really mind it that much. He knew what to expect and beyond a few random instances from his classmates or housemates, things were generally calm. He's still not sure if he has "friends" but, hes not lonely! Definitely not that. ◊ THIRD YEARLyric got to do new classes which significantly raised his general anxiety regarding failing. As a result, he took to a new hobby of making paper stars whenever he was feeling extra fidgety. It helped him allot over the year but it also left him with multiple containers of them. He'd taken to just giving them out in multiple group settings which he was thankful his friends didn't mind and he even got contacted to make an extra special batch over the summer. ◊ FOURTH YEARLyric got to see and experience the joys of puberty first hand this year and was honestly not impressed. Afon had a "not partner" that he wouldn't explain, he nearly lost his s**t when he thought he had a crush on both Sebastian and Alice but that was luckily pushed aside but it did leave him with more questions than answers. His terror hadn't been because of their gender, more due the fact that he'd felt like a homewrecker in one of those godawful daytime soaps Eula enjoys. So that was something to think on. Oh, and his classes were fine. He'd picked up the guitar! ◊ FIFTH YEARThis year was just as busy as everyone predicted it would be. From his classes piling on additional homework and projects, his own individual projects in clubs, and yknow the general need for sleep, Lyric was bushed. Still, he managed to not only study well for his exams, cultivate his cross-pollinated babies, help his fellow herbology club members, but also help in a big activity fair at the end of the year. He's really hoping next year is just a tad easier. (He's also hoping to maybe poison Alice's parents but that's just between him and his journal). ◊ SIXTH YEARThis year was pretty good! At the very start of the summer, he'd went with Alice to confront her parents with the rest of their friend group and got to watch with extreme satisfaction as she tore them new ones and walked away from them for good. Then at school, he'd been handed leadership over the herbology club which had been shocking but exciting and he worked hard to keep it as nice and inviting that the previous captains had. He also noticed his friends being...weird but he chalked it up to NEWT nerves. He'd also been feeling a bit weird, like one continuous stomach ache, but also just chalked it up to nerves. In the Spring, he'd gone to the ball with Ella and had an amazing time which had been a great way to end the year. ◊ SEVENTH YEARThis year was...wow. Lyric's fluttering stomach problems wouldn't go away and they seemed to only get worse the more time he spent with certain people. Or really one person. He really didn't understand it until the Winter Festival that Alice helped organize that he accompanied Ella to (of course) and while they were hanging out he was struck by the realization that he liked his friend as more than a friend. He of course told her and emphasized that his feelings didn't need to be reciprocated but to his immense surprise, they were! He got to be Ella's plus one to her sister's wedding as her Boyfriend with a capital "b" and they even went on a date and met each other's families! It would've felt like one big rush had he not known her as long as he had, plus it made her happy and that was all that really mattered to him anyway. Returning to school and studying made it a little harder to have one-on-one time, but he made it work while also making sure all his friends were eating and resting like they were supposed to. Ultimately, the tests were completed, they graduated, and Lyric still has a capital "g" Girlfriend!
POST GRADUATIONLyric didn't even hesitate before applying for his Herbology mastery and luckily, he managed not only find a sponsor and a job in the same place! The work is a bit hard with all the bending and whatnot, but he loves it more than he can even say. Plus, it means he can bring all sorts of flowers to his girlfriend! Speaking of Ella, she had invited him to live together with her, Alice, and Seb and after some thinking he accepted. It feels weird being apart from Afon unlike their school years, but his brother put him in such a long headlock when he admitted it that he took it back immediately.
