What do you all think on this topic?

I personally don't think so. There is no Biblical evidence that tells us this specifically. Although, I'm not opposed to celebrating his birth on Christmas. Kind of like an early/belated birthday type thing.

Reasons I believe Jesus Christ wasn't born in December was because the shepherds were in the fields at this time. I would've imagined winter would've been to cold to be out in the fields watching their flocks in December. Jesus' parents also registered for the Roman census, which wasn't usually done in winter because of the poor weather.

Nor do I believe that there were only three wise men. I believe that there were 3 gifts presented by 3 wise men, but the distance they traveled - to only have 3 people instead of a whole caravan might not have been incredibly wise.

I've come to believe December is more likely the month of conception rather than birth. But I think the celebration itself is the point, As for the wise men, I think there were probably a fairly decent sized party with them.

I have been to the middle east. No one is outside with sheep or no sheep in a winter night. It is super cold, shepherds watch their flocks by night in the spring and summer, not the winter.

Also censuses were never ordered in the winter. Rome wanted maximum participation so they didn't want any undue obstacles to it. Its way easier to travel in the spring or autumn.

TLTR: Winter is to cold for shepherds and a census, summer is to hot for a census. So Jesus likely was born in the spring or autumn.

I have read about the winter conditions there, but have never been for myself.

It's lovely to know that someone has been over to the middle east to share here about it! Thanks biggrin

For sure, no one wants to be freezing cold and doing the census...that sounds like...no razz

I go with spring or autumn for Jesus' birth a lot of times in my mind too after going over the information. It does make a lot of sense.
