They would be allowed down into the cove together, which was a good thing. Alice would have fussed herself into exhaustion if they tried to keep them apart, sending only one of them at a time into some weird cavern that was supposed to change their lives. A description like that back home would never have meant a good thing.

But a place like this wouldn't have existed back home anyway, even if the weapons were missing. It wasn't a thing like the natural caverns she had wandered into, nor the abandoned mine shafts that still held equipment left to rust and decay. There was something else about it, something new entirely, which made her curious enough to want to examine it.

She wanted to just sit square in the middle of the floor when he first reached the bottom of the steps, just so she could get a good look at things, and she'd already stopped to do just that when she found an urge she couldn't shake. There was a sound like something was stirring, coming from a place she could see had not a thing in it, and a feeling in her mind like the tug of a nagging thought that just wouldn't leave her alone.

"I'm gonna touch it," she announced, already reaching for it as her voice echoed throughout the cavern around them. There wasn't any time to argue with her before her fingertips had touched against the tablet, and no time after that to pull her hand away from it before the tablet was just gone.

Back home 'a cave that would change your life' was not a good thing but Dinah was not so sure that it was also not a good thing here. Skepticism was not a part of her makeup; her grandmother was a 'witch' because she knew how to distill usefulness out of flora. Superstition ran thick in the girl's veins and she was hesitant to go down those stone steps. That she didn't have to leave her sister behind, or be left behind, was a relief.

Eyes swept over every inch of the cavern, of the strange, glowing tablets inside, her groan filling the space at Alice's insistence to touch. The consequences of that touch. "Damn it, Ali!" An overreaction, sure, but that was Dinah's entire being those overreactions.

She did not feel the pull immediately. Her pull was quieter, the nagging ticking of an unseen clock slowly filling her ears. "Do you hear that...?" Swiveling one way, then another, she followed the sound and stopped before a tablet with a symbol that was nothing to her but a pretty picture.

"Should I...?" Ah, what the hell! Might as well go for it. Fingers reached out tentatively, firming with resolve as they hit stone, her palm splaying over it. And vanished much like the one her twin had touched.
