If you're smart, you probably don't watch the anime anymore, but for those still suffering through it,
what the heck is up with this crazy filler arc: Jiraiya's AU fanfiction?
It is the weirdest thing. I'm not complaining too much because Neji's alive, but like...Tobi is a completely different person. It's unclear whether or not the Chuunin exams happened or not, but everyone knows the moves they learned there. It's just...bizarre.
Anyone else watching?

I'll watch every couple weeks or so because it's moving so slowly.
I think the Chuunin Exams happened minus the Sand attacking the Leaf.
I kind of like it because I feel like Minato and Kashina could have survived the Nine Tails attack
so it's nice to see how things would be if Naruto had parents.
Apparently it doesn't change anybody's personality
because Naruto is still attention-starved
and Sasuke's still an a*****e.
Good to know, I can continue hating him.
It's weird to see people still being so mean to Naruto
even though they all know he is the Hokage's son.
And my understanding was that only half of Kurama is in him
with the other half in Kushina.
Do they treat Kushina poorly too?
I just don't get the hate.

I'm lost. It's actually been in Tsunade's dream world for...20 episodes? At least that long. Except that her dream world isn't anything like the one in the manga; it's her reading a book Jiraiya wrote about Naruto, which is basically his own AU fanfiction where nobody died but everything still happens basically the exact same way. It's...odd. I think that story is finished now (I'm not 100% caught up), so I don't know if it's going back to the plot next episode or if they're doing someone else's dream. Either way, I'm glad it'll be something new.

I just don't get the hate. Yeah, it makes no sense for people to still hate Naruto with Minato and Kushina still alive. I can't remember if people disliked Kushina in canon or not...

Reading this entire thread, it just goes to show how lazy the writers are for the show. Like, they couldn't take the time to think 'Hmm, how can we make this terrible arc at least believable and give the audience some credit'. After a couple seconds they booted the idea and said <******** it, even if they hate they're stuck with it! We ain't losing this cash cow anytime soon'. Yes, I went there and I accept all challengers who dispute my trolling words!

I decided to check it out and it's alright so far. Everything seems the same at first but there are some minor changes with situations and characters.

I guess Itachi being alive or dead still result in him having a inferiority/superior complex, lol. Well, at least Sasuke isn't revenge driven and Itachi got a puppy.
