I ended up having a lengthy discussion on this with my best friend. There are a lot of things being rebooted, and I think it's due to the current times. I mean, producers can see how big old fandoms are just by going online. Some fandoms for completed canons that are still thriving, really show that there's still a market for those canons, so producing more of it will get a return. It's kind of a neat trend to see.

D.Gray-man PV 2016 What's interesting about Japan's shows over the past several years is that they've started to cater to the international audiences. It used to be that they made 52 episodes (of longer running anime) a year, and when they ran out of material (caught up to the manga), that was it, the show ended, or it went into fillers forever and a day. But as of -- I dunno, 2009-ish? -- they've started to do seasons, like what we have in North America, with a smaller number of episodes, then a break for half a year, then continue.
