Yes, they exist, movies that are actually better than the books off of which they are based.

Though it isn't a movie, the made-for-Netflix series Hemlock Grove is much more palatable than its book predecessor. The author's style of the novel is very rough around the edges (and not in an endearing way) and filled with unnecessary profanity to try to appeal to teen boys. It was rather painful to get through the novel, but I liked the concept of werewolves and the supernatural so I read it anyway.

I think the Scarlet Pimpernel movie staring Anthony Andrews, Jane Seymour and Ian McEllen was better than the book. But then again it combined two of the books into one movie.

Honestly I found the Hunger Games and Catching Fire better than the books. I felt that the movies captured more tension and way more maturity overall. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading them but the simplistic writing style (which there is nothing wrong with having) just left me lacking in the maturity and tension overall.
