For much of Calcifer's young life, she lived with her mother, a magcargo that had taken ill before the young slugma was even hatched from her egg. With her mother cooped up, Calci was sent to the river to await her estranged father's return. She didn't know what he looked like, his personality, nothing... only that it was her mother's request, and her last one at that.
The young slugma grew fond over the river she kept vigilance near, considering it as a friend and companion where she lacked. It took her father years to return, and by then much had happened, though many sources of confusion had been assuaged.

"It is shown in the anime that Shellos can extend their necks to incredible lengths. This has only been seen in the West Sea form. It is unknown if the East Sea form can do this as well, but it is most likely able to."

Calcifer has made herself home in a small cave nearby the river south of town. It's cozy, though in need of some sprucing up now that the little slugma has grown. The materials and nick-knacks she's accumulated through her time as a ferryman are kept closer to the back, out of immediate sight. There is a charred trail leading from the threshold of the rocky mouth to the river's banks, testament to how Calci often spent her time before her transformation -- and how she often spends her time nowadays!
💧 Various Books, Clothing Items, and Trinkets: While nothing seems to be of striking value, everything Calcifer has managed to gather through her times working as a ferryman are never thrown out. Quite the contrary, she loves all the items she can get her hands on! Even those without words scrawled or conveyed between her and her passengers seems to hold an untold story behind it, and they're all quite fascinating in their own respect -- some even useful to boot!
