Personality: He is pretty much carefree most of the time and doesn’t take things so seriously that he fails to enjoy himself. He tends to pretty much like most people, a few select cases notwithstanding, and enjoys the smiles of kids and pokemon when they come into his shop. In battle however, he seems to be a completely different person. This isn’t due to any true split personality, but simply his approach to battle. Speed and deceit.
Favored Hobbies/Activities: Collecting Berries, Making Berry Juice/Candy, and feats of acrobatic skill and balance.
Interests: Maintaining his father’s shop, battling, sweets, and old ninja movies. (The cheesier the better.)
Dislikes: People who give up, health food (read: salads), and people who think he should “play fair” in his gym battles.

╰◓╮Life Story╭◓╯
History/Background: Zarin was born in Oppelucid City and lived there with his parents for the first portion of his life. When he was eight his grandfather died and his father inherited a sweet shop in Castellia City, his family having owned it for several generations. Not wanting a family legacy to go under or be owned by somebody else, his father talked the family into moving to Castellia City so he could oversee the family business. Zarin worked there for the next two years, enjoying it immensely, but eventually set off on his pokemon journey. Instead of a normal starter though, his father gave him two pokemon, one being a Nincada, which Zarin has always considered his true starter pokemon, and a Shuckle. With these two in hand he set out on his journey, finding and catching several other bug type pokemon along the way. While staying at a fellow trainer’s house in Nimbasa City, he was introduced to the old style cheesy ninja movies he currently loves so much.
The movie had another impact on the ten year old, he became fascinated with the speed and acrobatics the ninjas possessed in the movie. As such, he began to practice acrobatic stunts while he continued his journey. It wasn’t long before this caused the first of many broken bones and similar injuries, but he never stopped practicing and has been told he could make a career out of his stunts if he ever quit his gym or the sweet shop. When he was seventeen, having collected all eight badges, he began to head to the Pokemon League to challenge the Elite Four. Before he ever set foot there however, he received a call from his mother, she was crying. His father had just had a heart attack and died. Rather than continue onward to the challenge he had set before himself, he used one of his pokemon to fly back to Castellia City. The next year he opened up the sweet shop as the new owner. He hates to admit it, but he thought his battling days were mostly done and all but gave up on that part of his life. That is, until the year he turned twenty and the previous Gym Leader asked him for a battle one day out of the blue. When the dust had settled, Zarin was the new owner of the gym and the old one retired.
